  1. So we get tothe interview, and the interviewer loooks at us, and takes Sa's visa out of her passport, in preperation to grant th Green Card. hoqwever, later, she notices that the fingerprints haven't been completed. Rather than letting us go forhtwith and come back with fingerprints, we have to wait a month for a letter to come by snail mail, and with an appoint for us at the most inconvenient time possible (at least it was in our State, though!)

So thats done. Now I presume we are just waiting and one day the Green Card will show up? or is there action that needs to be taken on our part? thanks!

  2. I didn't make enough money in any case, but when I was making money I was paying taxes locally, so I'm not liable for that, anyway.

You may not be liable for it (e.g. foreign earned income tax credit), but you still must file a tax return.

It clearly said I do not have to file if my income does not meet such and such a level. My income never did, and even if it did, then I paid taxes on it locally ... still don't have to file. I clearly indicated why on the application forms.

( FYI - my wife was pregnant, so I spent my savings taking time off to be with her for a while. Then I had some bad luck with some contracts falling through, all leading to my income being quite low for a couple of years, making an unexpected trip to the US, and the long visa process to send for my wife to come here, necessary. Thems tha breaks. )

  3. Ahhhhh Columbus Day. That explains it.

I certainly stated that I was not required to file - Thats what I filed the boxes in ith, and added the reasons why in parentheses.

I have a co-sponsor, and the USCIS haxs their forms - unless they lost them, in which case that is what the RFE is for. It would not be the first time, reading this forum.

The 1800- number has a line dedicated to the RFE which should help me sort out what I need to send it. The letter itself is more than a little obtuse and obfuscate! There are 5 pages to the RFE, mostly stemming from the fact that they completly misse the fact that we were both overseas.... such as demanding evidence of lawful work for my wife... who was not in the US while working.

  4. The phone menu syas they're closed at 1045AM, Monday, our number isn't in their computers yet. I want to find out what they are asking for - but from what I can tell it is the Income Tax returns that I don't have because I didn't file, because I was overseas (with MY WIFE!) ... this I wrote in big thick black ink on every appropriate page that I sent them.

Their phone menu says call back during regular working hours!!! Are they on lunch? any ideas? thanks

  5. Hey- late June filer (which certainly means I am in a big rush of applications to get through the fee door) - but I still don't have the NOA1 for the EAD yet. We just got the NOA1 for the AOS, (recieved July 31, notice date Sept 5th) but when I tried to input the # into CRIS, CRIS tells me the case number doesn't exist! huh  Any thoughts? thanks!

  6. When she goes into the Embassy monday, when will she get her visa? Will it be monday or tuesday? Wed? I need to rebook another plane ticket....

The 2 day visa thing has very little to do with this. THey pretty much said come in next monday just because. Its a monday and looks good on the paperwork. In reality, they accept docuemnt submissions every day, but they just told her to come monday. they COULD do it sooner if they wanted.... She is going in today(er tomorrow?) to try to get the visa despite what they said about coming in monday, but may not be successful.

Of course, on Sunday, the visa fees go up and I will lose $800 to the new and improved USCIS. Thats money I had planned to spend on my wife traveling a little bit together.

At least I will finally get to see her - that is true ... excpt that is exactly what I was saying last week. I'll be happy when she is in my arms. Not until then...

  7. We will go to a different hospital. Problem is BNH has a bad reputation for doing the same thing already, so the wife is really not looking forward to that. (same thing = holding the medical documents hostage to 'further testing' ) Bumrungrad has already gotten several hundred dollars out of us for this BS. They have a cow they can keep milking, you see...

Bumrungrad has a good reputation, but there are PLENTY of similar stories about it. Search Thaivisa.com to find a few.

They still will not give a copy of the sealed info to my wife. I'll need another copy when she gets herre for the AOS (right?) >.<

    **** *********** *************

What is so hard about forwarding approved papers? she hasn't seen her baby son for 9 months now!!! Her birthday is next week. Why are they doing this? >.<

  8. Bumrungrad is telling my wife that they cannot hand her the medical documents!! They are 'in the mail' (although 'the mail' is apparantly slower than normal somehow) and that the Embassy does not allow her to take the documents herself. :o We know this is NOT the case as everyone at the Embassy had those envelopes with medical information. We don't know what to do!

  9. I don't think the Embassy has a horse in that particular race. That is USCIS, and the Embassy is part of the State Department.

I have my own delays, though. They have not recieved the medical documents from Bumrungrad yet. Bumrungrad said, from looking at the chest XRays, that they thought my wife's lungs were filled with water, and wanted to run 2 more months of tests before they released the papers. The interview went great, pending reciept of said medical docs, which still have not been recieved, despite Bumrungrad clearing her last Friday.

    This is extremely frustrating.

  10. I do ... Kinda hard to describe, though. I walked around for a long time and found this spot, which has given me far better prices. But I don't quite remember the name, and it is not on KSR proper - closer to Phra Athit Rd.

From KSR, head towards the river side, and take a left when you get to the end. Walk through the Israeli Connection (name? its a BIG place with a restaurant, travel agency, etc) Actaully try them, too, because the place I'm thinking of has the same owners. I never did try them because tyhe line was always out the doo to talk to someone whenever I was there. I guess thats a good sign! Anyway, down their back stairs (it is a common route) and into the back alley. Past the Muay Thai place and take your first reasonable left. It will be 3 store fronts down - it is an Israeli hotel/restaurant/internet shop (10 THB flat fee to use the internet) and the name is in Hebrew and in English (I think)

OR... roughly across the street from teh Crystal Dive Shop, there is a skinny alley. go through that to the end, and it will open up right into the place I'm talking about. You will see the other side of the Muay Thai place, but only if it is open.

    Also, check out http://www.12flight.com

And go to www.bookingbuddy.com and use that to search Travel and Trips. I've gotten some good quotes from them, but only if I go through the bookingbuddy site first. Strangely enough.

  11. My wife just took the medical, and she missed her plane because the hospital thought she had fluid filled lungs from the Chest X-Ray. They wanted to keep her for months and do invasive microscopy. They apparently had the right to hold onto the forms until they were satisfied. I guess they were astounded that she was standing, much less in perfect health - with fluid filled lungs and all. Or maybe they thought she was from Waterworld. I dunno.

Anyway, we got them to release the forms and clear her today, but the plane is tomorrow, so we will not be able to get the visa by then. The next plane is Aug 24 :( I may have to buy a new plane ticket

    Thats

  12. OK - she now has cleared the medical portion for the visa...

    BUT

since the US Embassy can't give her a same day visa, we missed our flight. The next available one is Aug 24th. :( And is another 5 weeks and we will have to pay the new fees for AOS :( as well as rent and everythign else for next month.

She's healthy, sop thats good, but we kinda knew that all along! this did not need to happen
