  1. Well according to Frankie and Grace or is that Grace and Frankie( TV show) You go get arrested.
  2. This is an IR1/CR1 thread and spreadsheet. Your parents fall under IR5. Check out this forum to see if there is one https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/111-bringing-family-members-of-us-citizens-to-america/ Here is one in our own Canada forum, but it's not very active. https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/752211-any-ir-5-montreal-here/
  3. ~~Related threads merged. PLease do not start more than one thread for similar or related questions~~
  4. ~~Hijack post split of another member's thread. Please do not post questions about your own case in other member's threads.~~
  5. You're welcome. I only know what Gary did and posted about. I wish I could help more. Maybe read more what he did, although his situation was different as K2 kids need Advance Parole to be able to come back to the US without abandoning everything. He had to do an emergency AP so the oldest can get back to school quickly. But he may have discussed more what the steps are. If the re-entry permit must get biometrics done before she leaves you might be able to squeak in a walk in for the biometrics. I really don't know if they allow that anymore but it sure would not hurt to look into it.
  6. ~~15 posts have been split off to their own thread as they were derailing the OP's main question(s) in her other thread.~~
  7. ~~Now the official mod warning about derailing this thread. PLease stick to answering the OP's questions. No further discussion on the EB3 in this thread, EB3 discussion is split off to its own post.~~
  8. Re-entry permit is exactly what your daughter will need. I saw you read Gary post follow his guide. He sent two boys back to do UNI in one of the RUB countries. They did their school graduated and came back to the US. Just make sure your daughter is listed with the school after she endorses the visa as a non resident student. She will be able to return to the US on breaks/summer and return to school to finish her program. Just make sure she understands re-entry can only be renew once for a max of 4 years total. As for her boyfriend, he definitely needs to look into the Jay treaty. In order for him to get a GC from that he must meet certain requirements or he can just not get a CG and just use his treaty card. He has options if he meets the minimum requirements.
  9. I have always read that the re-entry permit can only be renewed once. So tops 4 years outside the US. Re-entry will not get you 6 years.
  10. ~~Moved to US Citizenship General Discussion, from General Immigration DIscussion~~
  11. I wish I could hug you. So much going on and the helpless feeling through it all. I truly do wish you the best.
  12. Ah there we go. You're a doctor you have that need to help and fix things. Sadly she is the only one who can fix or help with this.
  13. I feel for you I truly do. I wish with all my heart she gets to be strong enough to get the help she needs. With all the police reports, she is probably listed in medical and police records of being a suicide, medical crisis risk. I wish I could say for certain that she would be found out during the medical or during the interview. I just don't know, but you do need to know what you are getting into. Your safety and mental health are also at risk. Have you thought about moving in with her and staying in Canada so you can get her help and find out more? Maybe away from the family as they keep covering things up.
  14. She will have to disclose it. They will want medical records. If she lies and somehow the doctors don't know everything going on (they most likely do not) then she very well may get through. Another Canadian member years ago had to be evaluated due to depression. She had to be assessed if you're lucky they may require it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. When she ended up in the hospital, how did she get there? Police if so they may have a record of it and then it will be disclosed. Not as a crime but something that may come out at the interview. I can tell you though with my experience with my ex with mental illness. It will not get better unless she admits it and actively gets help.
  15. I would be worried about the comment "persistent danger of hurting others". The PI has before denied a visa due to a possible risk to the immigrant. I would be very careful.

  18. ~~Thread locked to further replies. As this thread started out as a member's experience and guide for others it has become derailed and difficult to follow. Most recents posts have been split off to their own thread to help members get more feedback as older threads tend to have less traffic.~~ This thread is an excellent breakdown of the steps and as such will be pinned at the top of the forum. Please start your own thread if you have questions.

  21. A going away party should be fine. The issue with any type of celebration that can look like a wedding reception. Don't wear anything that can look like wedding attire, don't have decorations that look like wedding decor. Have a big Bon Voyage sign, farewell whatever type of stuff and you should be fine.
  22. ~~MOved to IR1/CR1 P&P, from Bringing Family of US- as the OP will be petitioning his wife and spousal and IR1&2/CR1&2 are discussed here.~~
