  1. Make sure you 1.) use adobe 2.) use adobe that has been updated to latest version
  2. What kind of friends do you have that will complete the DV lottery application as a joke and not for themselves? I once attempted to complete the application and it took forever to get through the steps and then it timed out and my application was never submitted. Every year, I see people complain about how difficult it is to complete the application because so many people are trying at the same time and the service is overloaded. If you think there are people in your life who might play this “trick” on you… I would shut down your social media. if you need social media for various reasons make sure you watermark your photos and alter them so they cannot be used in a “DV prank”.
  3. Your initial question is: Planning on having a baby between K1 and adjusting status: problems? All the answers are basically outlining potential problems you might have with this plan. The main issue is timing. As you have probably seen, USCIS works on its own timeline. So, you might discover 1.) You never obtain AP before the GC is issued- wife might be stuck in US for 6-18 months. 2.) You might receive AP a few months after you file adjustment but GC interview might be a month or two after AP- wife has to fly back to the US for interview. Might not be able to fly back to the US if she is too pregnant. 3.) You might receive GC without interview. Difficult to send GC to Madagascar after it is mailed. (Easiest issue to solve but costly) 4.) Your immigration journey after AOS is just starting so you need to figure out how to explain why (if this is the plan) you and your wife did not live in the US together after she entered on K1 visa. These are all POTENTIAL PROBLEMS with your plan.
  4. Yes. They asked how much money we had in cash. This is a standard question I've been asked on most of my entries.
  5. You'd be surprised to see how many Canadian LPRs end up moving to the USA. I think I've seen at least 3 on VJ this year. In addition, moving between Canada and the USA is easy. And some people move to Canada to work and study while waiting for a US immigrant visa because it is easier to visit US family while waiting for their interview. They might have flagged you because of the nature of your work. Or because they suspect you want to work in the US.
  6. We entered at DTW. Husband went through CBP first and it was fairly quick. Then I went through CBP second. They asked us how much money we each had. Then we went to secondary and that took some time. Our secondary time wasn't too complicated but we had to wait for them to figure out someone else's situation. I think the entire entry process took about 1 hour. They asked us two questions in secondary (and my husband - the USC- answered both of the questions). So, you don't really have to prepare your wife for anything special if you are traveling with her. You need to check how many other flights land just before your flight arrives and how many flights arrive at the same time as yours. 2.5 hours at DFW might not be enough. A few years ago, I had a 5 hour layover at DFW that become a 2 hour layover at DFW (because our flight was delayed). And I just made my flight in another section of the airport. If you can rebook the second flight, I would do that for insurance. I know a few people who just decided to stay the night in the layover city because they didn't want to deal with connections.
  7. The entire family applying for visas might be an issue… you don’t know if you should or shouldn’t worry about any family member because the totality of circumstances is examined. some embassies won’t even speak to the applicants they’ve decided if they’re going to issue the visa on the strength of the ds160. you might be surprised and discover brother has no issue obtaining his visa while parents have a harder time because they have more of a path to becoming LPRs
  8. Step 1 means both you and your fiancé(e)should look at the entire 129F packet before you submit it. Step 2 means when you finally send your packet to USCIS send a copy to your partner (the one who will interview) at the same time.
  9. Jump=start You answered my question
  10. @Boiler have you been watching since the jump?
  11. What has also changed is his weight. Watching that transition was incredible.
  12. I enjoy watching Hacking and recognizing some posters from VJ. interesting to see how his advice differs and his understanding of timelines differs, too. He has finally come to accepting Utah marriage as an option which has been a fun evolution to watch. A few weeks ago he was debating whether a same sex couple out of Pakistan should pursue K1 or spousal (via Utah). Interesting callers for sure when they aren’t asking how to complete a form.
  13. Which process are you going through? DCF? Inside US or submitting I130 to USCIS for consulate process? No apostle needed for birth certificates. child custody agreement should be translated into English. some say you can do it yourself but others say it shouldn’t be the petitioner or the beneficiary translating documents.
  14. In my opinion, you should see about getting another joint sponsor. Someone who makes enough for all 3 years and this year without using assets. If you cannot get a new joint sponsor soon. Send in the documents you have now- taxes, paystubs and employment verification letters for each I864 (don’t use assets). Additional question, is the joint sponsor married and do they file joint or separate?
  15. I watch to support my dear friend @Rocio0010 who is a valued friend of the show. Last week, I watched for the first time in several months and caught your show… I don’t watch Hacking because since I’ve moved to the US I’ve discovered cable TV and the smorgasbord of streaming options I had no access to in my previous country. 😉
  16. Last week, I made my husband watch Hacking with me and told him all the times our friend was very, very wrong 🤣 Informing someone they needed to get a state police background check for consular spousal visa was my fave…
  17. @harry.st I would call in to Hacking first world problem or no… finding out if changing a typo on a naturalization certificate will delay the oath ceremony is actually something that a lot of people would be interested in finding the answer to… it’s one of those issue that have wide appeal. Doesn’t matter about the specifics of your case.
  18. Ooooh… I was hoping you were a different person. Two annulment people n a short time would have been exciting! Good luck. I hope it is an easy fix at the oath ceremony like @NorthByNorthwest suggests.
  19. A quick Google shows they will reprint certs day of if there is a typo. So, you should be fine. But take the annulment paperwork with you as proof of marital status. I know Hacking had this question about there being no annulment option for naturalization application so he might have an answer on which is correct (for naturalization - divorce or single). Would you be upset if for technical reasons you could never change the certificate from divorced to single?
  20. You’ve been an LPR for 15 years? Is there a big rush now to get citizenship? is a few months waiting for a correction (if it takes a few months) a big deal if that’s what is needed? or is it more important to become a citizen now?
  21. Which forms did you file? What did you say you were adjusting from? This poster made a similar mistake but had their AOS approved
  22. If he is Morocco you don’t have a choice. You have to file I824. The cost is $465 and it takes about a year to process. click on the link @Verrou posted, complete the form, you’ll probably want to plan another visit to your husband in the next 12 months.
  23. Is he in the US on a tourist visa right now or is he in Morocco?
  24. Are you the US Citizen or the Moroccan citizen? Or are you neither but you and your partner are thinking of Morocco as a third country to live in together?
  25. Your fiancée working in Thailand is the beneficiary? As a rule, she does not have to show any assets or proof of work visa unless she the embassy requests to see proof she is legally in the country. So, you might want to take that evidence with you but it might not be necessary. When I interviewed in Korea the only time I had to show my residence card was at the medical- but other countries don’t have that stipulation.
