    Finally some news: after more than 9 months waiting for a decision to be made, they finally approved my case and I am in line for oath ceremony.

    I will never know exactly what caused the delay, maybe the A-file was stuck at the FRC, maybe my case was forgotten.  I had just put a second inquiry to my Senator two weeks ago, not sure either if that is what got it updated.  Maybe it was just timing, someone said here once: you just have to be patient, YES, I think I have been.  Each case is different, patience is the key.

    Anyway, this thread in particular has somehow kept me from going insane at a times, so thank you all for your updates and encouragements.  I will keep checking on here and wishing everyone else waiting good luck, you will get there.

    Hey!
    I had my interview in Memphis yesterday. Officer asked me the history and civics questions, stopped after the 6th question since I got them all right. Did the routine what others have described, did the reading and writing, went through the questions, etc.
    Officer was very nice, and I was approved! Now I'm in line for the oath ceremony

    Hi!
    Today I had my citizenship interview, but haven’t received a final decision yet.
    I applied under the 3-year rule (by marriage to a US citizen). Unfortunately, they weren’t prepared for the interview and didn’t check all the evidence I submitted. The officer was young African-American lady, absolutely unemotional, like a robot.  But the good thing she was a native speaker and spoke without any accent, absolutely clear.
    After 6 questions, reading and writing tests (easiest I’ve ever had), we went through the application. I wanted to change my first name (remove one letter), but I was told they have new rules and this is impossible anymore (only through the court). The officer asked me most of the Part 12 questions. She rephrased the question about the tax return, so listen carefully.  No definitions, no additional documents (except  ID, Green Card & Passport).
    The interview lasted about half an hour, we spent another 30 min in the waiting room and 30 min in line to enter the building.  My husband was allowed to be with me all the time except for the interview itself.

    As soon as anything changes in my case, I’ll update the information.
    If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.

    My timeline:
    10/18/2021 - submitted my application online;
    12/17/2021 - the interview was scheduled;
    01/24/2022, 7:45 am - interview (a decision cannot be made yet).

    What resources or interview prep question lists do you all recommend for her to prepare? She is hitting the studying hard now.

    Haven't posted on VJ in 2 years. I did my marriage based GC in 2016, ROC in 2018 (got approved in 2019 took exactly 1 year) after that I chose to take a break from this and did not apply for citizenship based on the 3 year rule. i finally stopped procrastinating and applied for Citizenship last September on the 23rd based on the 5 year GC rule. Here go my timeline so far:

    USCIS received application September 23rd.
    Notice sent September 28th, biometrics reused.
    October 18th, Interview Scheduled for December 7th 2021.

    My field office is in Bedford, New Hampshire.

    Not as fast as a few folks posted here before but still faster than i thought (lawyer said 4-6 months), Now i have about 44 days to study and get this done.

    Finally ended my journey the 14th. Went in for n400 test. Passed 6 in a row then reading and writing. All checked out, immigration officer was cool I was confident going in. In 2013 I got a dui. It was a long struggle but here I am a week out from my birthday feeling grateful. Oath ceremony same day about 30mins later. Now a proud citizen!

    This is misleading. They can actually interview you and approve your case anytime after you submit the application, assuming you meet all the criteria and have been / is still married to the US Citizen. Due to timing and delays, your application will most likely not be approved within the 90 days window. USCIS  does not  have to wait until your 5th year Greencard anniversary to interview/approve your case.

    straight out of DHS https://www.dhs.gov/publication/uscis-processing-concurrently-pending-forms-n-400-and-forms-i-751
    “All the rights and privileges that apply to lawful permanent residents, however, apply to conditional residents, including the right to apply for naturalization. Also, pursuant to Section 319(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, the spouse of a citizen may naturalize after residing in the United States for 3 years after becoming a lawful permanent resident, rather than 5 years as generally required. Lawful permanent residents who are eligible to naturalize under this provision of law may file their N-400 applications up to 90 calendar days before they complete their 3-year permanent residence requirement. All the other requirements for naturalization must be met on the day of filing the application. Due to the lengthening of processing times for I-751 petitions, both a request to remove the conditional status and an application for naturalization may be pending at the same time, which creates operational and adjudication issues at USCIS”

    That’s a tough one.
    You mentioned that  you “didn’t find about your son until recently”, how long were you guys separated? Clearly it was more than 6 mo. Or are you referring to you having another son with a different woman?
    Sounds like you two have never lived together.
    your best chance is to tell the whole truth to the officer and hoping for the best. You and your attorney need to come up with a game plan for the worst case scenario : like starting from scratch.
