I go to Vietnam all the time and never had a problem. You get you visa on line before you go. I also pay $25.00 and I get visa processed in 5 min. They understand the tourist dollars are the best. You could also buy a flex date ticket.
flex date ticket? how that works? how to purchase?

purchase 3 one-way tickets at the same time, 1 for you to get to Viet Nam, 2 for you and spouse to exit Viet Nam, you then satisfy the requirement for a visa to enter and exit Viet Nam and have seats together for your return
can you explain more? sound interesting. why 3 one way tickets and not a round-trip for me and one way for her?

Strict? Not really - pretty lax IMHO. I’ve been traveling in/out for almost a decade.
Vietnam is more capitalist then communist these days - chasing the $$$$$.
You could be exiting overland so r/t not necessary. Once you have a valid visa you are good to go unless you go past the number of days your visa is good for.
wow! thanks. this was the answer i was looking for. i feel more relax now. i was about to book wrong kind of ticket. yeah it makes more sense your way. thanks a lot!!!!!

Buy tickets two tickets together at same time pick your seats together.
thanks cyclone for your response. vietnam requires 30 days visa even for US citizens. Do you think buying one way ticket is safe? vietnam communist government could be very strict. Any problem entry/exit with one way ticket?

well you shouldn't book anything before VOH. that's the rule.
you can buy yours with possibility changing date. once she got her visa then you book her and you could change yours to her ticket date.
or you buy flight back ticket with estimation time round her visa will be received then you buy her flight the same time like yours.
edit : the best go to travel agent if booking online is too complicated.
thanks. that is what i'm talking about it's complicated. we want to come together same flight.

J US-Citizen bought ( obviously) round trip, well we made an arrangement so that we have the same date on the flight back to US. it should be doable.
DID YOU BOTH CAME ON THE SAME FLIGHT? IF SO, HOW CAN I DO THIS? I THINK IS GONNA BE SOLD OUT CAUSE YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE VISA TO BOOK FLIGHT. HOW CAN WE COORDINATE TO COME ON THE SAME FLIGHT?

WHAT ABOUT YOUR SPONSOR. DID HE/SHE BUY A ONE WAY TICKET FROM USA TO THE BENEFICIARY'S COUNTRY? WERE YOU ABLE TO COME BACK TO USA TOGETHER IN THE SAME FLIGHT?
