C32 got a reaction from HF & HB in Dr Cheema review
Just wanted to post this for anyone stressing over medical exams (because I certainly was!)

Dr Cheema in Surrey was fantastic. I had a later appointment (11AM) so they were a little backed up when I got there and had to wait 20-25 minutes before being seen.

The staff was super helpful. I’d taken a test last week to verify my immunities for the vaccination requirements and hadn’t gotten the results back in time, so they called the lab on my behalf for the results. I needed an MMR shot, and was able to get this in office for a fee.

The actual exam exam was super quick. Less than 10 minutes, and he was super friendly and helpful.

(The X-rays and lab tests significantly added to my time, but those took place in a separate location, and it was noon so everyone was getting their labs done over the lunch hour 🤷🏻‍♀️)

    very quick and painless 😊

I did a paper filing because the online form would not allow for a non-canadian address even with the appropriate place marked.

There used to be a part on the front of the Cdn tax forms that asked when you ceased to be a Cdn resident....I put the day down that I crossed the border into the USA on my CR-1 visa....but that was in 2004......

Oh my gosh you guys!! My visa is going to be here soon! I woke up to the email from the consulate this morning. Best way ever to wake up 😊

It felt like it took an eternity and was never going to happen for us. I’d never even heard of another Canadian being asked to fill out DS-5535 and everyone I did come across was waiting up to almost two years for their visa. It was highly anxiety-inducing. Our process stretched from initial petition sent in January 2018 to issued today.

But we made it! And I’ll finally be home soon with my love.

I think you understood that post wrong. That person said they should come back with the ead to change their name easily instead of trying to get the ssn in the married name.

    Approved ☺️

Probably have more questions than that peace feeling of being approved but I’ll believe it when I get that passport back ☺️

Nice! My fiancee's interview is this coming Wednesday the 27th in the morning. I cannot wait for it as well! We are hoping for a March POE to the USA if all goes well. What a journey for us Jan. 2018 petitioners  LOL! I will also keep everyone posted as well. I heard it might be a harder interview in a third world country like my Fiancee's (Laos), finger's cross for us....

    Hello everyone,

I am here to share the good news. My husband's visa got issued today exactly 17 months after his interview date.
I hope this journey ends for everyone who is waiting. This waiting journey was really frustrating and emotionally draining for me, and I am sure it is the same for everyone who is going through this. But thank God, it came to an end.
I am on cloud 9 today. I am very grateful and thankful for this day. I hope everyone waiting gets to see this day soon.

    Thanks

As of today, it’s been three weeks since my creation date changed and I flipped from “immigrant status” to “nonimmigrant”. I’ve had 6 updates since then and I’m still in AP.

I know I’m getting closer, but I find it so hard not to be discouraged. All I’ve heard is how it’s only a matter of days before the visa is issued once the creation date has changed. But that’s not happening for me. And it feels like it’s never ending 😢

Thank you everyone for the responses, much appreciated! We booked an interview date, and we might just keep it and hope what we need done gets done within the 6 month visa validity, you know, assuming we get the visa 😂🤞

Still in AP. And going a little crazy.

My case was updated two days in a row last week and I got excited that this was a good sign. There’s been nothing this week.

I doubt that would do it. If he tried to cross after being denied entrance, maybe. But if he was cooperative, that works in his favour.

It might just be that Montreal is backed up in processing applications. It’s just hard to say with real certainty what it could be.

I know it’s a very anxious time, but try to think positively. Your love will be with you shortly

I think Montreal is being cautious with applicants. The same happened to me. I was told I was approved. They took my passport, and then two days later sent me a questionnaire for DS-5535 and I’ve been in AP since.

Good news is that most AP cases in Montreal get wrapped up in 60 days, more or less. Mine is likely one of the more complicated/lengthy cases as DS-5535 is a very new form and takes a long time to process. I just passed 60 days and I’m seeing signs of getting close to the end (🤞🏻).

If they kept your fiancé’s passport, that’s a very good sign that they’ll want to push through AP in reasonable time.

Sounds like you’re still in administrative processing, which is normal and happens to every case. Processing times vary, but you can keep checking status updates on the CEAC website to see if you’re getting closer to an issuer visa.

Must be different in different countries then, because I had proof of every vaccination I have ever had (from newborn to present) and the medical doctor didn't run any tests at all regarding the vaccinations. He just looked at my records and saw there which vaccinations I have had and ticked the boxes on the DS-3025. Including the shot I mentioned earlier.

So no, no duplication of tests or extra shots. No shots at all actually, since I had taken care of that in advance. Much cheaper and easier.

What's with people fearing of the local doctor? It is the cheaper and most times smarter option.

Go to Local doctor, but first learn about which vaccines you need cause for example pneumonia is probably not needed unless fiance is 65 years old. so first learn what vaccines really needed (for most people its only 5 or 6 of them depending on the season). Get proof of vaccination, this part is important. and take that to your medical appointment with the doctor specified by the embassy. This is it.

    Yup.

All the panel physician will care about is proof of vaccinations. If there’s no proof, the shot will be given (at added expense). A panel physician will not give shots again where proof is provided.

A titers test counts as proof. As does documentation from your doctor who gave you the shot. Or, in the case of varicella, verbal confirmation of immunity will be sufficient.

But yeah. The shots do not have to be administered by a panel physician.
