  1. I'm really sorry Semih didn't get the visa! You must be really disappointed. The U.S. views the visa as a privilege. It's an invitation extended by the U.S., not by a citizen.

    All the best -

:( Today was Semih's interview and he was denied for the B2 Visa. It was very short one she denied him on being and intending immigrant. So of course I had to research what this meant and the thing that I don't understand is how can she say he is an intending immigrant when he was only requesting 2 weeks in the US for engagement purposes only. When I looked up what intending immigrant meant it stated that it is a person who is planing to stay in the US permently and that we would need an affidavid of support. In which we purposely didn't submit b/c we didn't want to give the wrong impression. Yes, eventually he is planning to stay here but we were applying for a tourist visa for 2 weeks, since I can't get to Turkey to make our engagement official. She also stated that it is against US law to give him the visa b/c he has intent to stay. He then tried to explain that "he just misses me" and she proceeded to tell him that she has a finance in Bolgaria and that he should just accept it and wait until his K1 visa is approved. I personally think her statement was unescessary.

We knew it was a slim chance for approval, but is it really against the law to approve this B2 visa? We were honest and did everything by the book and just feel like she "knocked the wind out of our sail"

Also we were told that his passport should've been stamped denied is this true?

Semih wants to apply again, b/c we heard that sometimes it depends on the person interviewing. What do you think?

  2. Dear WK -

You did it! You got "it." You got him. And you left. You've taken care of your kids and yourself.

I hope your back is straight when you walk out the door each day, and you look people right in the eye. You've shown both strength and depth. Thank you for sharing this story with us! Someone you don't know will read this post one day, and be helped by what you've shared.

    God bless -

Hi ladies i am a member here but not that active on VJ. I am here today because a few of my dear friends found something very disturbing here and i am grateful they did. I found out that my fiancé had another woman as his fiancé at same time as me. Apparently he used or shall i say used myself for $$, relationship and gifts as well as using her for same. This is a very hard thing for me to do but feel she needs to know as i do. i was with him for over 2 years and i had no clue until recently what he is capable of. I caution ALL ladies to visit many times as you can to really know what you are facing. Listen to your friends i should have listened closer but i did listen before it was tooo late. This man can become abusive as i came to find out my last trip to Marco. Please be careful. He hurt my kids and my self. He has lied and used. I really loved him despite the craziness of our ages (which i found out a yr later he lied about) for he never acted his age at all he acted a lot older than my self but i will NEVER do that again. Much valued and learned experience. I could HATE him for having me to love him and his family but i do not. I have tooo much love in my heart to have my hatred for him tear me up. I know now he wanted easy entry into the USA and that is all, no matter the consequences. Be careful means do not file for your guy till you have visited him a few times first and ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR instincts. If you know the woman in this pic on my page, plz let her know. Inchalla he has not hurt anyone else. Thank you for listening.

    The former Wigena Koukouch

    Hi to all,

I havent posted for a while, but we sent in our packet 3 papers about a month and a half ago, and a week and a half ago I sent an email to Ciudad Juarez...which they never responded to. So I sent another email today...and they wrote back that OUR APPOINTMENT IS SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 11!!!! I can hardly breathe because I am so excited! :):):):D

    Now, a couple of questions.

Has anyone gone through the process when their visa a previously denied due to previous drug use? (sorry if that sounds redundant!) What exactly do we need to take? My husband is going to a psychologist and will have blood tests done. Can anyone think of anything else we should do? (He has not used for more than 3 years now.)

Since we applied for the CR-1/IR-1 visa (sorry, i cant remember what the difference is right now), will they give him the green card and everything at the visa interview? We have been married for more than 2 years, so that restriction won't be a problem.

Will he be able to travel freely? (We want to be home for my sister's December wedding, but its very likely my husband will have to travel back to Mexico in Jan to finish some business here.)

Thanks so much for any help! I hope everyone's visa process is much faster than ours, but that everyone hears good news soon!

    Cindy

I finally sent in my petition today! Woo hoo! I Quadruple checked everything but I am still nervous I forgot something. It feels my life is now in someone else's hands. Side note, a year ago today was when I left the US to visit her for the first time.

  7. My fiance did the same thing. His photos were too small and we received an RFE. When I visited him in June, my first day there ... we went to a photographer and had new passport photos taken of each of us. The photographer was wonderful, as I was a crazy woman: "TWO inches by TWO inches." We go by centimeters, miss. I DON'T CARE if you go by horse hooves. I need photos that are TWO INCHES by TWO INCHES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MS was patient and calm - translating what I was saying to Turkish. But the photographer saw my expression and knew he had a crazy women in his shop. (LOL) I brought a sample cardboard measuring 2"x2" as I was not going to take any chances with conversion errors. I guarded those stupid photos with my life while on vacation in Turkey.

When I got back, I bought two passport photo cards from Mailboxes, Etc. for the RFE Reply. In two weeks, we received the NOA2.

If you can, get the photos enlarged to 2"x2". If you can't, have her take passport photos again which are cut to 2"x2".

    Much good luck!

    MM and MS

I just got a package of everything I need from my fiancee. Unfortunately, she and the place where she got her photos taken must not have understood what I meant when I said 2 inches by 2 inches. I told her 5.5 centimeters by 5.5 centimeters. The photo appears really small. It is 3.5 cm right to left and 4.5 centimeters up and down. What should I do? Can I get the pictures blown up at a walgreens or CVC? Or should she retake them. I think it might be better if I just send the thing in the way it is. What do you guys recommend? 2) Also, her hair is gelled back. Is this OK?

Add another APPROVED to the list!!! Well he just got out and had no problems. They said he'd have his visa in hand by Friday because we had to get the quicker shipping due to his Monday plane ticket. I'll get the full recount when he gets home. Thanks to everyone for their encouragement. We couldn't have done this without the lovely people of visajourney

Boy, I'm glad that's over with, lol :D

  9. :dance::dance: CONGRATULATIONS !!!!! :dance::dance:

Hello May filers, I just could not handle the torture any longer so this morning I decided to call USCIS using the RFE trick. A nice Hispanic lady took my call and she immediately requested for my receipt # and asked what type of application I had submitted. Then she confirmed my name and home address. To my surprise, she said the magic word...... “approval notice was sent on September 4th 2007”. I quickly asked her what date the petition was approved and she replied August 31st. So my 08/31st touch resulted in NOA-2. USCIS website still says our case is still in “received and pending” status. We did not receive any email notification too. Thank God this part of the journey is behind us. What an angonishing painful wait! I would advice other filers that have been waiting (at least 120 days) and did experience a touch to call USCIS to check perhaps their petition has already been approved. For those that are still waiting, hold tight your good news is on the way. Oh yes....This is going to be a good weekend. Cheers!!!:dance::dance:

BTW, VJ projected NOA-2 date was 09/22/07

    NOA-2 Approved !!!!!

  10. :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!! :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

    Hi everybody!!

I had my interview yesterday in Madrid (Spain), so I thought about posting my experience there, here it goes:

We (my USC husband and me) arrived in Madrid on Sunday. I had my medical check on monday morning which it took about 3 hours because the X-ray had to be done somewhere else. Since I did not have any records for vaccinations they gave me two vaccines: tetanus (I am not sure of the spelling) and the triple-vir that includes mumps, measles and rubeola (all together in one). That went well and on-schedule, even the lady at the medical told me that this process is more burocracy for the embassy than a real medical check. The next day I picked up the results. And, finally, yesterday I had my interview at the embassy. I was schedule for 9 am, but had to wait about half-an-hour. The lady (the same one she had talked to us at the time of the I-130 application) took all our documents required in packet 4. We had only one problem: apparently my pictures were too small, I blame the spanish photo-machines, they claim to be for ID but apparently they do not meet the requirements, avoid them if you can! Anyway, fortunately, they had a photo-machine at the embassy, so I took them there, no problem. Then we waited for almost 1 hour and a half to get the final interview; the embassy was busy. At the interview, he asked me when I had met my husband, what did I do during my 3 years of J-1 visa in the US (that was from 2000 to 2003, he was curious about that one), where I was going in the US and not many questions more after all, took less than 10 minutes in total. And finally he said the phamous words "your visa has been approved"!!! I could not believe it first. He told me I should get my passport in the mail in about 1 week, I will anxiously wait for it!! I do not plan to enter the US till November, so I will keep you posted about my next experience at the POE then.

I sincerely want to thank all the people that help me answering my concerns and questions during my visa journey, and of course, all the ones that make possible such a great site like this one. You guys do a terrific and great job and should be proud of it. This is the best forum site I have ever visited and I enjoyed it a lot, it is amazing how much information you can get from it. Thanks a lot!!!!

  11. :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!! :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

    Hi all,

I had my interview in Vancouver on Aug. 23, and praise the Lord, everything went very well. I had everything in order so they didn't make me do anything over, and they asked me a few questions about me and my fiance, what we did, how we met, etc. and that was it. I picked up my visa the next day! The guards and the interviewer were all very friendly to me, which I very much appreciated. The day before, Aug. 22, I had my medical exam with Dr. Ian Morgan, and that went very well too. Not that I had anything to worry about, but they were very pleasant and proffessional. We stayed at the Days Inn for 3 nights, just a couple of blocks away from the consulate. From the hotel to the Dr. was quite a walk, but easily done. We did take a taxi there because it was so early in the morning, but then we walked back afterwards, and then walked there again to pick up the results in the afternoon. Anyway, it's a great hotel to stay at. Our room was small but clean. It has good security, and the staff were friendly and provided very good service. In between appointments we had plenty of time to explore the city and do some shopping. Thankfully it's a really nice part of the city, with lots of restaurants, shops, and interesting stuff to see within walking distance.

The thing I was most nervous about was that I have conscientious objections to immunization. I 've never been immunized in my life, and I was really worried they'd make a fuss about that. So when I phoned for my medical exam and explained that I didn't immunize, Laura, the secretary, told me to bring a letter from my family doctor to confirm. My doctor willingly wrote a letter saying that I had moral objections to vaccines and that I was very healthy. I gave Laura that letter in place of immunization records and they accepted it. During the exam, Dr. Morgan asked me all about my family and my religious background, but didn't pressure me or disrespect my beliefs in any way. Of course, I never got to see the results because I wasn't supposed to open the envelope, but at the interview the next day, the man didn't even mention immunization. Whew!

My main reason for writing is let all you VJ'ers know how thankful I am for this forum and how much I appreciate your help. We've been able to find so many helpful tips on here and elsewhere on the net about various procedures, forms, etc. that would have been very hard to figure out on our own. When we went to Vancouver we already knew a little of what to expect. Looking back, it wasn't nearly as hard as I was afraid it would be.

    Thanks again everyone,

    Mopsie

  13. <snip> Almost everyone gets at least 1 drunk driving. <snip>

Good grief! Most people do not drive drunk - nor dismiss their own drunk driving convictions so readily. You may have much a bigger problem on your hands than filling out a form.

    Like I said to you

    I never had a DWI

but I did have more than 3, a few more, and by a few, we will say a few more drinking and marijuana possesions than 3, and I did not submit anything, just ignored it. and I was approved. But that was my individual case only. and did not include a DWI

FYI : A drunk driving is not a felony in the state of Michigan and I highly doubt it is in Wisconsin. If driving drunk was a felon, then 30% of the US would be felons. Almost everyone gets at least 1 drunk driving. The first one means nothing and is very easy probation, the second one is where it gets to be really difficult, expensive, and annoying, and the third drunk driving, you will be screwed for at least 3 years straight with probation and fines.

"The various versions of "driving under the influence" generally constitute a misdemeanor (punishable by up to one year in jail) . However, the offense may be elevated to a felony (punishable by a longer term in state prison) if the incident caused serious injury (felony DUI), death (vehicular manslaughter or vehicular homicide), or extensive property damage (a state specified dollar amount) or if the defendant has a designated number of prior DUI convictions within a given time period (commonly, 3 prior convictions within 7 years). California, which is being followed by a growing number of states, now charges second-degree murder where the legal state of mind of malice exists -- that is, where the defendant exhibited a reckless indifference to the lives of others [7]."

  14. <snip> Do I have to really check that box? <snip>

    Yes.

<snip> Even if I do check the box, I will not be able to locate the court documents regarding each individual case. The courts will not have them on file. What should I do? <snip>

There are police arrest records on file.

<snip> When sending out my first package, do I need to send in any pictures of my girlfriend (I have plenty) or a copy of every page of her passport? <snip>

Send photos of you two together and include the date/place each photo was taken. Include date stamps on either/each passport which show that you both were in the same city/country at the same time.

<snip> Do I have to list every job I have worked at in the past 5 years? <snip>

Fill out the paperwork as instructed. Add a second sheet if necessary. Because the boxes were too small, I filled them in as best I could, and attached a second sheet, typing (landscape format) all the relevant info for each question.

I am 23 years and 4 months old. I am getting ready to send out the first package. However, in 2005 I got a drunk driving and in 2002 I got into a few minor cases regarding alcohol and marijuana. All separate cases. One paraphernalia for marijuana. One minor in possession of alcohol. One minor in possession of marijuana. Do I have to really check that box? I honestly do not think 3 will show. I believe that only the drunk driving will show. Even if I do check the box, I will not be able to locate the court documents regarding each individual case. The courts will not have them on file. What should I do? ALSO.............When sending out my first package, do I need to send in any pictures of my girlfriend (I have plenty) or a copy of every page of her passport? Is does not say anywhere that I need to do that. LAST QUESTION...... Do I have to list every job I have worked at in the past 5 years? I mean, I can list the last 3 or maybe 4, but I cannot think that far back and I do not want to attach additional papers if it is more than what will fit! Thanks for the answers
  15. Easy does it there. It's easy to trip over one's own hubris, instructing others not to discuss topics which you readily discuss. Further, demanding that others stop scaring VJers as you note consulates grilling beneficiaries to tears (and providing a litany of outcomes).

<snip> For pity sake people, stop talking about red flags and other nonsense ...

Red flags at one consulate are boring details in another. CO's at some consulates spend 30 seconds asking questions about the bonafide nature of the relationship - some consulates grill the beneficiaries to tears. Some consulates put every beneficiary on Administrative Review and some hardly ever do. Some consulates frown on financial co-sponsorship of the beneficary - some could care less.

Stop trying to scare the be-jesus out of people. <snip>

  16. Please know that 99.9% of us on VJ don't mean to make anyone feel bad (with the exception of liars and trolls). This is a stressful, awful process. Most of us try to provide information that assists ... without spoon-feeding information which VJers can find on their own. And at the risk of p#!&ing you off, I wonder if VJers aren't PM'ing you privately so that you don't feel ridiculed in the public forum.

What raised some flags - for a good reason or not - is that you have a co-sponsor while you're not in school and you're not working. The CO will be evaluating that. Additionallly, you'll be visiting your fiancee in November (?) rather than getting a job. I'm not passing judgement. Yet, these decisions are considered along with everything else in your K-1. The CO has to make a subjective decision - some COs are reasonable, while others are by the book. I suspect that's why it was suggested that you consider finding work. Getting a job will strengthen your petition. And who doesn't want to push the odds in their favor? Good luck with everything moving forward!
