stech786 got a reaction from SalishSea in Contact Doha Qatar police some threatening me
Number is blocked. I know that person as extended family. So blocking isn’t going to help.
I know Dubai & Qatar has strict rules for criminal activities. My local police isn’t going to do anything as it’s outside their boundaries
I was thinking to contact my local congressman office to send a note to US embassy in Doha to void his visa?

You surrender your Green Card when you take the oath, not when you interview.

stech786 reacted to OldUser in Can I travel after filing N400
You likely won't get interview letter within a month of filing. It will take 3-12 months depending on field office.
You can take short trips while N-400 is pending, it's totally fine.

stech786 reacted to OldUser in 3 yr period if left USA for 30 days
No, it doesn't mean no intermational trips. It means how many days collectively you were in the US in the last 3 years. If you only went for one trip of 30 days, you probably have 35 months of US physical presence. You need at least 18.

stech786 reacted to TBoneTX in Visit visa from Pakistan
This -- a good travel history -- is most important. Your father-in-law must show a pattern, preferably recent, of leaving Pakistan (to any other country) and returning. If he can make a short trip to any other country before applying for the U.S. tourist visa, he'll have a better chance of being granted the U.S. visa. He must also convince the U.S. consul that he has good reason to return to Pakistan. No particular documents are called for, but he should bring some documents verifying his business-ownership and the necessity that he return to his duties.
In Pakistan, most tourist visas may be refused, so neither you nor he should be disappointed. If it's refused this time, he should travel to other countries and reapply in perhaps a year.

This is what's written on the instructions https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-864instr-pc.pdf:
"For purposes of this affidavit, the line for Total Income on IRS Forms 1040 and 1040A will be considered when determining income. For persons filing IRS Form 1040 EZ, the line for adjusted gross income will be considered."

stech786 got a reaction from Mtu Mzuri in Biden's Plans for US Immigration (Big Changes)
Yea I know. This would mean all cases would go in extensive background checks after interview. (Not just few days in AP) Yet many are still given visa on hand. I’m talking about ds5535 which is always after interview
DS-5535 didn’t occur in previous admin.
USCIS also does background checks on petitioner too.

stech786 got a reaction from Mtu Mzuri in Biden's Plans for US Immigration (Big Changes)
What will happen to DS-5535? My understanding is that US govt already does background check at USCIS stage & not nessacarily after interview. This ds5535 was endorsed by Trump via State department. Just wondering what will happen or how can I find out?

stech786 reacted to Ikhan in Approved!!! (CR-1 Islamabad embassy)
You haven't given me the source. Each case is different and from what lawyers have said most WoM are successful. A lawyer will tell you the success rate of a WoM, they usually wont even file it if they know it'll likely fail. It tarnishes their reputation.
Like i've said multiple times, 99% of background checks take less than 3 months. I've worked for a background check firm. WoM is not a big gamble if you have a good lawyer and a good background. Most people know if their background is good or bad. Most people know if they have done things that are criminal.
Also, please stop putting words in my mouth. I never said WoM forces them to approve your case.
Bottom line is, if an applicant who has a good background is waiting more than ~10 months in AP should consult a lawyer and look at their options (which include WoM)
