I am in the same boat!!! I met my husband through mutual friends in the US. We were married in June and in August We applied for the EAD i-130 and i-485. Well guess what???? Besides doing the biometric appointment, the next notice we received was to go on the interview. I PANICKED BIG TIME.....
Unfortunately, we live in a post 9-11 world, I was unable to put my husband on ANYTHING without a social security number or a driver's license. I live in NY and of course the catch 22 is no social security number, no license. So I'm hoping that pictures and that our relationship will show. I am also bring documentation that I can not put him on anything until he gets his social security number (including adding him to my cable bill). I also don't have joint tax returns because we were just married this year.....
By the way, my husband received notice earlier in the month with approval for his EAD. We received the EAD and RAN to the Social Security Office to apply for his card. We received notice that will take four weeks because he wasn't in the system as of that date. We received a notice on Saturday stating his application was approved and we should receive his card in the mail in the next two weeks. I am bringing this as proof as well.
Please say a little prayer as we are so nervous!! On top of this stress, I think the stork will be bringing us a little gift in nine months (I won't know more about that until Thursday or Friday)......

I am a little confused about traveling outside the US and what my husband will need.
Is it true that once he gets his greencard he can travel outside the US without applying for advanced parole? Please help me out because my girlfriend told me that he won't be able to travel anywhere until he gets his full greencard two years down the road.
Is this true? Should I apply for advanced parole? We would like to go to Hungary next summer to visit his family and I would like to know what I need to do.
Thanks~

Don't need much to get married here in Vegas, the passport will due. You will have to wait a day or two to get the marriage certificate at the courthouse though so marry first, then stick around a day or two to pick it up before you leave. Good luck.
No problem Philly to Miami.
Although at Miami check in they wanted to See Anna's I-94 - so don't forget it.
HAVE FUN!
Ye I-94 is stapled in the passport either way, but thanks everyone!
I was going to say make sure the I-94 is stapled to the passport...Me and my husband ended up driving to Florida over the holidays because he lost the I-94 and his NY Drivers LIcense expired. But we got good news yesterday that his I765 is in card production.
Just wanted to double check that this means once he gets his card he can go get a social security number?

We had our interview in San Francisco yesterday, January 4, 2007.
I was a bit nervous because I don't have a SSN yet so our evidence were limited. We managed to open a joint bank account at our bank, Bank of America. Anyone who has this problem may try them. Based on my passport and visa they opened a joint account. Then we had the lease contract, pictures and some proof we traveled together. Cards from family and friends, emails, etc. The officer asked us a lot of questions, but he was nice. He asked for pics from the wedding and he asked to see " the rock on my hand"
We had a problem in receiving mail from them. They kept on cutting short our home address so I missed 2 biometric appointments ... so he helped us do the biometric the same day and he also promised he will take care of the address problem. He told us we were approved but without the biometrics he could not do it officially. He just gave us a letter of how the official letter will look like.
I would say it was a lot of stress but it wasn't for nothing. He saw we came prepared and i think it mattered.
We wish everybody good luck with their AOS!
We are in the same boat, my husband does not have his social security number and our interview is at the end of the month BUT we got word yesterday that his I765 is in "card production". So as of today, besides pictures, I have nothing to show for with joint evidence. Bank of America is my bank and the branch said unless he has a social security number they can't add him to my account. I live in the NY/NJ area and I dunno if it is a backlash of 9-11 but even the freaken cable company requires a social security number to be added to the account.
I am so nervous for the interview as I am worried the interviewer is going to think this is a farce. Any other suggestions????
Take photos of you two together, letters between the two of you, cards, emails, anything to show your relationship. It literally can be ANYTHING... take it along. If you don't get asked for it, it doesn't matter Pictures of the wedding are good.
As for the joint bills and stuff, explain the situation to the officer. They're only human. If you have time, perhaps you could ask the various companies for a written explanation as to why they won't add him to your account. I don't know if they'll do it, but if you explain your situation, they might help. You could perhaps also try and get a letter from your landlord explaining that you've been renting together.
Hope that helps.
~James.
I own my home outright so the landlord thing won't work. The pictures are not a problem at all. We really don't have cards or anything because we met here through friends.....
I have a feeling they will call us back for a second interview, which I don't think is the end of the world.....

Wow Anna, If everyone was as prepared as you, then no one would have a problem.
Relax. You have everything that you sent in plus stuff they want to see. Remember this, they are looking to see if you have a true marriage. Since you have so much joint things already that will probably proof enough. The tickets and photos visiting in laws is great.
Just be calm, they will ask you to swear to tell the truth, etc. and then proceed with their questions. Show them that you are a loving and devoted couple with plans for the future and how much everyone recognizes you are a couple. It will be fine.
Most of my readings have shown that these agents of the USCIS are the best. They deal with the people face to face unlike the faceless ones in the regional service centers.
When my wife and I attended the interview we did not have anything held jointly because she didn't have a social security number yet. But the photos of our trip to visit my daughter and new granddaughter were good enough proof. It is up to you and hubby to show your love of each other. I haven't heard of them asking intimate details.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR RESPONSE!!!! I just got my notice for me and my husbands interview and we don't have anything jointly yet cuz he doesnt have his social security number!!!!! I have been chain smoking for the last 3 hours scouring the web for info. What should I bring to my interview? We are driving to florida to spend xmas with my parents. I have lots of pictures but thats about it right now and am very nervous.....
Help We Had Our Interview Today
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas

We had our Interview today in the NYC office in Federal Plaza. We got there around 9:15am for our 9:45 appointment. We were called in around 11 and it was over by 1130 but no approval....
I was a nervous wreck at first!!! We were sworn in and the officer asked for birth certificates, passports and marriage license. The first question she asked was for Peters full name and address. Then she asked me for Peter's birthday and I blanked out. I don't know why but I blanked....but i said it stumbling through....
She asked a bunch of questions, how we met, who initiated the relationship, what do we like to do on the weekends, about each others parents (names, have we both met the other's parents, etc.). She even asked Peter what was my address prior to our current one, he couldn't remember the address itself but the city and described the location. When did we have our last fight, what was the first thing I noticed about Peter. She looked at pictures and asked Peter who one of the girls was and he got that right. She then asked me about a picture of Peter with one of his friends. She also took two pictures of us (one from the wedding and one from NYE). She asked Peter about the picture from NYE. She also asked Peter where was the last time I went out of the country and where. He answered the location right but missed on the year.
Then here is where it got a little hairy...She asked Peter what did I do for a living and he didn't know the name of the company......Well I was unemployed for a lil bit and I have my own consulting company. I just got a job at a dance studio and started last week (so no paystubs or letter from employer). I did however bring all my W-2s and paystubs for my company... She didn't say whether or not she needed anything else.
Then she asked for proof of joint documents. Peter has no driver's license or Social Security number. He was just approved for the EAD 3 1/2 weeks ago and once we received the card we went straight to the SS Office to get his card. Social security said that would take 4 weeks. I own a Co-Op and I can't put him on my deed or my monthly maintaince bill because they have to do a credit check on him. The bank told me no ID or Social Security Number no joint account, even Cablevision requires a social security number or Driver's License to add him to my account. The only thing I was able to put Peter on was my credit card. I explained this to the officer and backed it up with documentation showing what was required to add him to my accounts.
She took Peter's passport and wrote I-485 still pending and said she had to review the file before she can make a decision. IS THIS REALLY BAD???? I am so scared that we are going to be denied. If we are denied can we appeal???
Thanks,
Debs
