Why did they give your fiance a 221(g)? What further documents did they require? And have you submitted them?

Since how long you have been in Administrative Processing? My husbands case took 90 days. If they have kept the passport, thats a good sign. The CO took my husbands passport on April 17, 2019 and we got it back on August 1, 2019.

I read that your grandmother has sponsored you & its also taking time because of your step-kids. They are probably doing a thorough security clearance. Its very frustrating, I understand. But the current govt. administration has prolonged cases like ours. Best wishes!

They give me back my passport and gave me 221g to submit joint sponsor.... There was someone who got 221g, passport returned and he submitted the required documents same day and after 3days he was called to drop of passport... We r good! I'm sure soon you'd be called to drop of passport for visa issuance

    They can do either
return the passport as they either need more security checks or documents or expect to deny the petition
if they ask for more documents,  they may say to return the passport with documents
    OR
they can may keep the passport
and how long?    till they are finished with their job (one has been kept a year but that was in Morocco)

What is NVC and what happens there? And once my spouse gets the green card we need to travel immediately?

I came to know on February 20, 2019 that NVC is forwarding all my documents to the Islamabad consulate, and I'll hear from them with my scheduled interview date. I got an email about my interview on March 13 2019 and my husbands interview was scheduled on April 17, 2019.

I'd like to know if I'm just not the only one suffering with a 221(g).
I am the petitioner and have sponsored my husband.

My interview date: April 17, 2019 (The immigration officer asked to submit my tax transcript & proof of domicile) - What was yours? Our interview went great. Submitted required documents: May 18, 2019. They have received it & even confirmed it when I inquired about it a month later. It's JULY 4, 2019 --- I have contacted my local consulate & have even called the NVC, they say the case is in Administrative Processing and the documents have not yet been reviewed.
I have submitted everything they asked for.... Anyone else on the same boat as I am? Whats your experience? They give a standard automatic response to my inquires. Any one out there who's going through the same? We can talk about it....

    Hi Vagner

They are few ways to go about this process.

    1) Apply for I-130 (immigration) from Brazil... you guys can wait it out until you hear back from them... The process generally takes 1.5 years - 2 years.... so if you and your wife can stay Brazil that long... go for it.
    2) Travel to USA on your tourist visa and file from there. In this case, until you dont get your green card, you wont be legally allowed to work there.

If I was you, I'd stick to Plan 1. Its the safest.

No, there is no other way. Just keep checking the case status in CEAC.
I hope it will be resolved quickly!

Very highly likely, the status of your husband’s case will now say “Administrative Processing” and there is no set time limit for this state. So this means (yet another) wait.. It could be another few weeks or even months, nobody knows.
If the medical expires in between that time, he will have to redo the medical (at least as far as I know, fellow VJ members please correct me if I’m wrong)

Take a slow step one at a time. First wait for the I-130 to be approved or denied depends on the relationship and other circumstances, for the I-130 to be approved it takes about a year then USCIS send your case to NVC for visa processing, Before USCIS sends your case to NVC they would let you know that its approved or denid if its approved then USICS will send your case to NVC which would take additionally 1 to 2 months and after that they will send you a welcome package which will contain some documents like invoice number and case number where you will pay your fees will it and NVC will ask you to provide documents regarding your relationship which would take 2 to 3 months and after that they will schedule an interview which would take 1 to 2 more months if they have an available slot in Islamabad Embassy. the whole process take about 1 year and 7 to 9 months. if there is nothing wrong with your case then they will approve it or if they need more documents they will put your case on administrative processing which would take additinal time until you provide them the required documents. If they find any red flags in your case then they can send your case back to USCIS which would take 1 to 2 more year. So be ready and Good luck.

You dont get green card until you are in United States. You only get an immigrant visa and the visa is only valid for 6 months so you would have to travel within 6 months and after that you land im U.S. then they will send you a green card in 2 to 3 months but as I said let the process begin and do your research how to prepare documents and everything.

Case not approved your looking at a 6 month wait. Case once approved will go to NVC and another 3 months from there. in total your looking at 10 months till you get the green card.

Your case wasn't approved. It was accepted and sent to Nebraska Service Center to make a decision regarding your case whether to approve it or deny it. This might take up to a year depending on where you are from and how fast NSC is going.
When we filed I-130 it took us a year and 10 months to get approved. I'm not saying this will happen to you, but I'm telling you to expect everything
