Hey all, it's been a while since I've posted on here but the summer flew by, October got here suddenly, and I went out to my mailbox yesterday and unexpectedly found a letter from USCIS, and it was my NOA2!!!  Notice Date Oct. 11, and my NOA 1 Received Date was April 16... I can't believe it was less than 6 months! I had prepared myself for it to come hopefully by early November, and was not optimistic about being able to go with my fiance to Bogota with her for her interview, but now I think we will be able to go before Thanksgiving when I'm in Colombia next. Best of all, I think we can now realistically be on track for her to move here at the first of the New Year, as we had hoped for under our best-case scenario!!

Needless to say, we are very happy , but I know there's still work to do and hopefully things will keep going smoothly. Hopefully more and more April filers will keep receiving good news!

    Best wishes, everyone!

That's really cool that we have the same date, and also engaged to a Colombian!  My fiancee is from just outside of Medellin also - from Barbosa, Antioquia.  Small world, isn't it!?  I love Medellin and even before I met Kelly I could have definitely seen myself retiring there some day way far away. But now we are making plans to have an apartment or home there and I would certainly not be opposed to spending time between Colombia and Las Vegas going forward after a few years of building up my work and future here. I really love the weeks I spend down there, not just for the time I get with my fiancee of course, but also it's just a wonderful place to live and work, great people, great community, I love the culture and the city.

I haven't looked at the police clearance yet, but when I'm there the week of May 19th (yay!) we are going to look into that and I'll share here whatever I find out.  Buena suerte!

Hey everyone!  Glad to be in the April filers thread with you all!

I just mailed off my I-129F form along with EVERYTHING... excepttttt I totally spaced it and forgot to send the optional e-notification form (G-1145).  So if I forgot that, does anyone know how will I find out when they accept my filing?  Ugh, I knew I'd forget something but at least it wasn't anything critical that would slow down the review of my documents.  Does anyone know if there's a way to send this form in still so that it can get added to my file and I receive future notifications?

Excited to finally have everything submitted... I had seen my fiancee several times since last fall, but only recently decided we were going to apply for a K-1 visa, so on my last trip to Colombia (where she lives), I made sure to get really solid evidence of us being together and submitted everything in a very complete and organized manner. Hopefully things will go smoothly because we are hoping that she can get here to the States by the first of 2019.  I realize that's pushing it at around 8 months out, but from what I've seen...maybe it's possible. Good luck everyone with the wait!

I'm sure you and many others here are like me -- becoming experts at finding the best possible airfare and being creative with travel times and ways to try to spend time with your future spouse!  I have alerts on a few different travel sites, and have racked up frequent flyer miles, haha.

Oh wow, that is true love right there to deal with that commute!  Haha, but of course we would all do it for our loved ones too  Glad you at least got a visit paid for, that's great!

My only good travel story is that Aeromexico bumped me up to first class on my last flight back from Medellin to Mexico City - first time I've ever gotten that, I think they saw how many flights I've been taking and had lots of space available so they picked the one guy who flies that route nearly month, haha. (I usually fly Aeromexico from Vegas to Mex. City, then Mex. City to Medellin - it's only about a 4.5 hour flight from Vegas to Mexico, then another 4 hours from Mexico to Colombia).  The flights are not bad - the entire trip can be as short as 9-10 hours if I fly through Panama on Copa Airlines, and usually no more than 12-13 if I have a long layover in Mexico.  And I have a nice little 15-20 minute ride to the airport in Vegas. I'm so spoiled, sorry everyone!

OP here -- I'm going to respond directly to a few posts above, but first of all I just wanted to say THANK YOU so much to everyone who has chimed in, shared their insight and experiences, and offered their thoughts. So glad I found this forum! When talking to friends and family about the trade-offs and difficulty of the choices/process, I think after hearing a few sentences they just kind of stare at you blankly and the terms mean nothing to them -- it's so great to interact with so many people who have been through or are going through the process. So, thanks!

Many of the comments have really gotten right to the crux of the issue for us -- while we do want her to get to the US as soon as possible... we might be willing to wait a couple extra months on her arrival in order to save the extra fees and avoid the extra waiting period for the work permit and eventually the green card.  However, if the K-1 visa got her here faster it wouldn't be terrible for her to wait the 4 months to get a work permit. I do a lot of my work from home, and have a flexible schedule as the owner of my own law practice, so she wouldn't be stranded alone all day like some of the comments mention. So we are lucky there.  So I guess what we really need to decide is whether we want to go through the hassle of getting married in Colombia when I'm there in 3 weeks from now, or just go ahead right now and submit the K-1 papers. (As one poster mentioned, the civil marriage process in Colombia is a little complicated - I'd need to start getting certified copies of my birth certificate and divorce decreed translated into Spanish by an official translator and get the documents apostilled right now; kind of a pain and some expense there....then get the marriage certificate translated into English by an official translator too), so realistically we probably could not apply for the CR-1 until more like May 1.  More than anything we really just want to be able to live together ASAP, and as soon after the new year as possible.  So I think from what I'm hearing we are probably going to stick with the K-1 process and hope for the best in terms of processing times, and we can get married in the civil courts here in Vegas very quickly (fortunately for us, Las Vegas has kind of perfected the super fast marriage thing down to a science, haha - we'd have our certificate the day we get married and could immediately apply for the green card)....  I just hope I don't end up in some never ending unkown waiting period of a year for the K-1. That would really suck.

THANKS!!!  Haha, I'm very impatient as well, as is my fiancee.  So it's cool to have this forum to get to know people who are also going through this journey at the same time - and it was helpful in the beginning to get ideas and thoughts to make sure we selected the right process and submitted everything properly.

By the way, I sort of copied your signature for the events/dates, I liked the way you put it together but I didn't want to totally appropriate everything you did with the happy emojis and dancing emoji at the end - but I wanted to say that was a really nice touch, I like it!  I will be that dancing emoji hopefully before the end of this year! LOL

Hi everyone! Just checking in.  So my packet was delivered to Texas lockbox on 4/16. I don't know if it was accepted yet (because, like an idiot, I forgot to submit the form authorizing electronic notifications -- I was so focused on getting everything correct that I left out the one thing that is optional), and I was hoping to get hard copy of the NOA1 possibly today. I know, I know, it's only been 8 days haha. But of course I'm going to be paranoid every day until that thing arrives in the mail.

Here's a thought I'll throw out there -- I'm in Vegas, so what better place to bring your foreign fiance(e)s at the start of the new year once everyone is in the country!? In case you hadn't heard, it's pretty easy to get married here too  I'd love to host a get together and I can even help with discounts on hotels and experiences here because I have plenty of friends in the hospitality industry, plus as a local I can get things at significant discounts anyway... just a thought y'all!

It was received at the Lewisville Texas location on 4/16, and the Notice date is 4/19, so I'm pleasantly surprised at how quickly they turned it around.  I didn't know it had been received because I forgot to submit the authorization for electronic notices, so I had no idea if I was going to get a good or bad letter, so it's a happy day for us!!
