Is there any “expiry” date on the pc that the embassy accepts, rule of thumb is 6 months? Can anyone who knows clarify?

    Thanks

After October interviews the embassy was booked out they released February dates in November March in December and April in January. My case number didn’t get to me until the 27th of December so I had no choice but to wait until April. The police clearance is valid up to 6 months after it was issued

The longest wait for us was the Unabridged BC and Police Clearance...  The next wait is scheduling the interview, they seem to get taken up quickly..

We applied for the unabridged and police clearance back in October but there was a 3 month wait for an interview

What was the longest hold up through your process? The petition approval wait?

Absolutely we sent our petition last year feb keep in mind we had no rfe it was just a delayed approval. That’s why I was stressing after the interview I was praying it wouldn’t take weeks to get his passport back. We have had so many problems even with getting our daughters birth certificate and both her SA passport and US passport

Interview booked for 13th June at Jhb consulate!! 🙌🙏😃 Note: we did the DHL-tracking trick to see when it arrived in Jhb, then called the consulate - they pick up pretty quick when you call (even answered when I called after 3pm). Asked me to wait for email with instructions, which I got the next morning. As I had already completed the DS-160 beforehand, all I had to do was make payment, and then booked first available interview date -> 13th June.

How do you get them to answer

    Hello to everyone

with regards to the proof of relationship, the photos/pictures. All of my pictures were taken on my cellphone , would I still need to have them printed out as actual photos or would it be alright to just put all my pictures in a word document and  print them out on paper with the date, place etc under the picture?

    Thanks in advance 🌸

I put them in a word doc 4 per page with date explanation and place

    Oh awesome! Thank you!

What did you put in the letters of support from family and the thank you letter. We had though about this but weren't exactly sure what would be good to include in this.

The family just basically attested to the real ness of our relationship and how I am a part of the family and talked about our time spent together

Hi there, hope you are well.

sorry to worry you. My fiancé and I have a son together who has dual citizenship and has a USA passport so we aren’t applying for a k2 for obvious reasons. I will take his birth certificate and passports to the interview, but was wondering whether it would be compulsory for him to attend the interview with me?

My fiancé our daughter and I all attended the interview. From what I heard it looks good our daughter also has dual citizenship and they kept our crba copy so I guess it was needed

Does anyone have a list of the things they took to the embassy interview?

At this point I'm so paranoid I'm going to be too focused on the additional things that I'm going to forget something important and wondered if anyone had some sort of checklist for everything they took!

I brought a lot of additional things but here is my checklist:

    -unabridged birth certificate

    -2 passport photos

    -police clearance

-birth certificate of any children (we have a child together)

    2nd pile of paperwork:

    i-134 affidavit

    -W2 last 3 years

    -employment verification letter

    -paystub

you will need the same thing if you have a joint sponsor

    3rd pile of paperwork

    - proof of relationship

    -pictures

    -flight info

    -messages

    -letters of support from family

    -thank you letter

  9. So here’s what happened I’m the petition btw

we got to the embassy my fiancé our daughter and I around 12:15 sat and waited until one we were first in line. There was a protest going on so we had to use a different entrance. A lady came out and checked everyone in as well as looked at everyone’s passport photos to make sure they were okay. We went in they let us go before a lot of people because we had a baby. We went through security sat down and waited for our number to be called. When it was we handed in all of our documents (we were very organized I mean very we were complemented by everyone on our organization). So in one binder clip we had proof of payment ds160, passport photos, birth certificate, police clearance, our daughters US citizenship and her birth certificate. Then in the next clip we had all financial information from my joint sponsor and I. We handed in birth certificate, I-134, W2, pay stubs, employment letter. In the next clip we had all of our proof of relationship pictures letters of intent, flights, WhatsApp messages, letters of relationship support from my mother, my sister, his brother (his mom and dad are both deceased) a letter from me the petitioner expressing the dynamic of our relationship, and a thank you letter. She was like wow you just made my job super easy we sat down waited about 20 minutes and a young guy called us to be interviewed. He was very obsessed with our daughter and my fiancé’s language. He speaks xhosa and kept attempting to talk to him in Xhosa. He really didn’t ask us anything he basically just asked where are we going to live what do I do for work and when did we meet. He then just but everything back in our file and said congratulations you’re approved. I hope you make more beautiful babies. And we left. Please make sure you over prepare. Only two of us got approved others were completely missing documents and filling out forms incorrectly. I mean people who were married to their petitioner were denied and we all know how long it takes when you are married
