Get on the internet and find out which airline is offering the cheapest flight home.
Sorry for what you are going through.

I'm in a situation where my husband retires in 2 1/2 years and hasn't been giving me an answer when I ask him if he would consider retiring to my old country so I can help my aging parents and be there for my granddaughter who is currently 19 months old. He has no kids from a previous marriage, his mother is 79 years old (not in great shape) and he's not close to his brothers or nieces. Decisions decisions.
I'd bet he'd be more open to the idea if Canada didn't tax his retirement income and social security. Taxes are kinda punitive up there.
Actually that didn't enter into it. I think it's more "fear of change."

Back in June 2002, I brought my then 11 1/2 year old son to the interview. I figured if he was going to be part of the immigration process he would come along and see what it was all about. We travelled for 5 hours from southern Ontario to Montreal, stayed in a hotel for the night, walked around the city checking things out, then attended the interview the next day. The interviewing Consulate officer was really nice and asked my son questions too. Later that afternoon my son and I were on the train headed home again.
As far as a letter from his father authorizing permission for our son to immigrate to the U.S., we had a letter drawn up by a lawyer I was using as my son's father and I were never married and there were never any legal papers set in place when our son was born. My lawyer signed, his lawyer signed and that was fine with the Consulate.

Divorce or Annulment?
I would appreciate any help here. My husband has just received his conditional residence papers in February. We will be married one year in May and things have gone downhill in a hurry. The adjustment has been too much for him and he has involved way too many people in our relationship. IE ex wife, ex sister in law, ex female coworker and has been very inappropriate with email and Skype with them. We have been seeing a counselor since September and he simply refuses to take ownership for what this has all done to me. I have also lost close friends here due to his behavior.
Where are we in the process - what will be next with the K-1? Should I file for divorce or an anullment? Doesn't he have to yet prove a relationship? He really can't because he has nothing here in our name and he still uses his UK address when he orders things through the mail. He has accounts overseas, a house in the UK that he paid cash for and also retirement accounts that I know nothing about. Will they deport him with not enough proof?
Now, he wants to fly to Vancouver to spend some time with his son. I need to protect myself and my two children. I don't want him to leave me with nothing. Help me please. I'm at the end of my rope.

Here's my story:
I married my husband in the summer of 2002. The first trip I made back to Canada was in the summer of 2004 for my sister's 40th birthday. She lives up in Vancouver; we are in Idaho. My son and I were gone for a week (drove up). My husband didn't want to go.
Second trip back was in the summer of 2005. My son and I drove from the west of the U.S. to the east side of Canada (Ontario) and we were gone for a month. Husband couldn't get that amount of time off to go.
Third trip back was in the fall of 2007 when my first grandchild was born. I went myself, flew and was gone three weeks.
Fourth trip back was this past Christmas - my son and I flew and were gone for two weeks.
When we'll be back again, I have no idea.
While my husband was not exactly thrilled about the "month" long trip in the summer of 2005 saying he'd really miss us, he on the other hand didn't beg us to stay home and did understand the need for us to go back and see family and friends.
Send your husband off to Canada with a smile on your face and tell him to have a good time while he's gone.

Depends on how many hot flashes I get plagued by in a night.....

My son (18) just had the outline of a Canadian maple leaf tattooed on his left side over his ribs (ouch) about three weeks ago. Yesterday he had it shaded in red. The thing has to be about 8" tall by 8" wide. Artist asked him if he was from Canada and he said "yup". Artist said, "that's cool."
We received our U.S. citizenship last October.

Well let's see, our Governor is proposing to cut state workers' wages by 3% so that $13 almost makes up for what he loses.

He is smarter but I have more common sense.

We used to have my husband's two family members (husband and wife team) constantly go on and on about their daughter and her soccer accomplishments. We would sit there and say, "Oh yeah, good", etc etc. Haven't heard the bragging anymore. I guess because we weren't being part of putting this girl on a pedestal like her parents were, the novelty of bragging died out.
Don't get me wrong, it was great about what the girl was achieving, we just didn't need to hear it over and over again at every family event. My son even picked up that this girl was embarrassed by the way her parents were behaving.
Reminds me of
LOL

Sorry if i'm blunt but I would be on the first plane back to my home country. This case sounds vey much like what went on in my first marriage. I felt like I was walking around on eggshells anytime I was near my husband. We went for counselling; he said the Counsellor was taking sides with me and refused to go back or to even see another Counsellor. I walked and it was such a great relief the day I walked out.
To this day 21 years later, he still has the anger issues and going to anger management hasn't helped him.
Good luck to you.

He pays about $100 a month for three of us - $350 deductible each before any coverage which is then 80% covered. He says his employer pays $9,000 a year.
Hubby was hospitalized for 3 days for a mini stroke. Here are the costs so far. We haven't received any bills yet for what we have to pay out of pocket:
Hospital (including tests, MRI, catscans, EKG, physical therapy) - $21, 187.19
Ambulance (2 rides) - $1050.50
1 Doctor's visit - $113
He figures he saw at least 6 doctors including 2 neurologists so we haven't seen their bills yet via the Blue Cross statement.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your fiancee.

My son's is 1 1/4" wide by 1 3/4" in length. Yup so is mine.
I'm surprised both photos were accepted. My son looks like he has an orange face and I have an orange face with some orange shading on the white background.

I'm sorry to hear what happened to you.
One lesson to be learned - don't sell anything or give up anything until you have Visa in hand.
Back in 2002 when my Visa was approved I had my adult kids and parents take my furniture, other stuff I got rid of that I had no use for anyhow. Luckily the job I worked at also allowed any employee to take a one year leave of absence for whatever reason. Even though my heart told me that things would work out, I still went for the one year leave of absence. I actually didn't inform my place of employment that I wouldn't be back until 9 months after I had moved to the U.S. My husband to be was all for what I had done.
