mc962 got a reaction from OldUser in I-751 Joint Tax Returns - what to add?
If you go to the IRS.gov website and navigate to where the tax documents are, there is a question about what kind of document you want.

One of the options is "Immigration", and if you select that I believe it will give you the Tax Return Transcript for the years you select.

This is different than other documents the IRS provides such as the the Tax Account Transcript, which while might be OK for some stages of immigration (the embassy for the K-1 visa might allow it), this will not have all the information that they want to see. I didn't realize that originally and so we got an RFIE for submitting the wrong tax documents for the I-485 😅.

So in summary, download the Tax Return Transcripts for the years needed for your I-751 (at least 3 years of whatever has been filed if I remember correctly). While you could submit the actual return packet that you filed, the IRS documents are much more concise and easier to just print out and submit.

I'd often check it weekly from my phone 😅, but you probably don't need to do it that much. Every two weeks, or even maybe once a month would probably be OK as well.

While we always got the notices in the mail within a week or two of any online updates, I agree that stuff can get lost in the mail. Therefore it's a lot better to be aware of things that have happened and know when to follow up if things don't arrive than to miss some mail and several months later be in a worse situation with USCIS because they thought they mailed something to you and you never got it.

I-751 can be tracked with the https://my.uscis.gov/ site, with the number given on your Notice Of Action after they receive your case (which I think is what you were saying above). You can add it to the account and it will be tracked.

I never quite understood what the USCIS Account Number was for and never put it on the form and they didn't seem to have a problem with it. From what I understood, the USCIS Account Number is not the same thing as the Notice of Action number, but I could never find a straight answer explaining how to get one.

I thought they just opened up for tourists again at the beginning of the month? It's not entirely clear to me how strict your itinerary needs to be, but I think you can come as long as you go through a travel agency (and get a proper tourist visa instead of visa exemption).

Before Pandemic at least, I felt Tokyo was fairly quick/efficient. Not the quickest, but it didn't take as long as some others had taken from what I remember.

mc962 got a reaction from Dongbei in Need to resubmit the same evidence in our I-751 application?
Theoretically USCIS would have everything submitted with the I-751, but it can't hurt to resubmit some stuff, especially if it's all online anyway. I've read some people submit everything from full I-751/everything from arrival, to just any updates since the I-751 was submitted.

We went with the advice to submit an abbreviated version of the I-751 stuff. So for example joint bank statements were submitted, but less of them / larger intervals in between, less of various bills and other extra "proof of relationship" documents (but making sure to submit some stuff from after I-751 was submitted).

My understanding with the 3-year N-400 is that they basically want you to be a permanent resident for 3 years, married to your spouse, and living with them in the same place in the U.S. (along with the other requirements), and so the documents that you submit should give the Immigration Officer a good sense of "yes, this person fulfills those requirements".

mc962 got a reaction from IanD in K1 entry - Time with US Customs officer
As mentioned, you should factor in the rest of the factors for Port of Entry (e.g., connecting at Atlanta, GA might just require more time to deal with distance/difficulties with the airport itself compared to a less-busy Port of Entry) .

I'd also just make sure you have enough time, in case there are a lot of people that need extra processing (K1 or otherwise), or they just decide to take longer for whatever reason. And of course, flights do get delayed at times, which could shorten your connection window.

I think 4 hours was a common recommendation in the past for a safe amount of connection time at most airports. Maybe add another hour for Covid (I haven't done international flights since then, but I imagine leaving some time for any new procedures around it wouldn't hurt). And if you plan to travel around the holidays (especially Christmas/New Year), then I'd take that into consideration as well.

So in conclusion, I think 9 hours should be enough time. But in the worst-case scenario, you just need to book another domestic flight/have the airline move you to a later flight.

They're likely exposed to more kinds of stuff on the way to and inside the hospital than what they give you from a handful of vaccines.

(I am not a/your doctor, and not counting specific side-effects/allergies unique to the person getting vaccinated vs. the general reaction of most of the population that gets them. Maybe it's worth chatting with the country's equivalent of Primary Care Provider, if they have one and you are still concerned.)

Sometimes I think they can also do a Titer Test to see if you've been vaccinated for stuff before (for some things at least), depending on what is offered there.

As a personal anecdote: I believe I got 3 (first dose at least, and it was a few years ago so it might have been 2) on the same day at my local U.S. Travel Clinic before I went to Vietnam for the first time, with no side effects aside from the expected arm soreness. 🤷‍♂️

Did you mean 10 years or 1 year?

Regarding GC affecting tourist visa status, I think that would be the benefit of the I-407. If you officially say that you abandon your GC status, then they wouldn't feel like you might try to stay as a Permanent Resident on the old card. instead of a tourist.

IRS recommends the Return Transcript, if you tell them you want information for Immigration when getting the transcripts from the online account.

I believe we sent the Account Transcript initially with AoS, which led to a RFIE.

If you look at both, I think the Return Transcript is basically the complete IRS record for the tax return, with the information that was entered into their system off your Form 1040 + additional forms. The Account Transcript is mostly just a summary of the whole Return, but doesn't show the complete information.

I still had a copy from the I-134 from the K1 Interview, but I just asked my employer to print out a more recently-dated copy for the I-485.

Nothing had really changed in the few months since the K1 interview, and they didn't mind doing it. But I probably didn't need to do it...it was just a pretty easy thing to do.

We sent in the relationship evidence we had by the time we were ready to send in the application.

That included join bank account, join health insurance, and some pictures (along with some stuff that we also had from our K1).

I think it could be helpful to send it, but obviously you can't send what you don't yet have, and at most it just means the officer asks to see it at the interview.

It went well 🎉.He didn't really ask for much in the way of evidence after the questions were finished...I suspect he'd already made up his mind about what to decide towards the end of the questioning period. He did ask if there were any pictures that we had to show him, and he flipped through them quickly, but didn't even collect them...mostly just instructing us how to save good  evidence for the Removal of Conditions in 2 years so we could avoid another interview.

We were probably in and out of the interview in like 15 minutes 😌

^^It reads a little weird, they don't penalize people for having dual citizenship, but there is a paragraph describing how, from what I understand, the government has gone after people in the past for declaring an additional citizenship after reaching adulthood.

^^Might be a good discussion for a lawyer.
