2018JNJ got a reaction from Dashinka in Trump administration blocks states from using Medicaid to respond to coronavirus crisis
ahh..Politifact. seriously? Politifact? What's next, WikiPedia??
From your "facts"...how long was it before the previous administration declared it a national emergency?
And how many people died as a result of inaction on that "man's?" part?
I don't recall everything being canceled for that.
But it's ok..we all know why that is.
In the end, it won't matter.
DJ Trump will still be President of the USA.
Hillary Clinton will never be.
And I'm better for it.
🙂

2018JNJ got a reaction from TBoneTX in Trump administration blocks states from using Medicaid to respond to coronavirus crisis
How many months did it take the previous administration to respond to the outbreak in 2009?
How many innocent people died before "he?" decided to decided to declare an emergency?
I'm sure you were similarly outraged then and tried to vote him out the following election...right??

2018JNJ got a reaction from Talako in Trying to get appointment Affidavit in Lieu of a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage
In Cebu, there is no appointment. You just show up on the days this service is offered. Be prepared to be there early to get a number.
Once you get a number, you stand outside a bit. Then you go inside. And sit for a bit. They bring a paper form to fill out. Then you sit a bit more.
Once your number is called, you go in a little room with a window. Bring any divorce decrees with you. You swear to the consular that you are free to marry. Then sit a little more. Finally, you are called to collect the notarized affidavit. The fee is paid at some point in this process.
It took us less than 3 hours..mostly just waiting and listening to the troubles of others.
I know God doesn't make mistakes, but there are surely some American (removed) in PH. 🙂

2018JNJ reacted to SalishSea in New Healthcare Requirements for US Immigrants
Huh? Reactionary much? No one is saying that. Hell, I support single payer medicare for all!
Health care and the cost to retire in the United States are HUGELY expensive. So much so that it sometimes keeps me awake at night, and I have excellent health care and I'm ahead of the retirement game for my age. I am fully aware of my own white privilege; I realize I'm lucky to have had the resources I've had, and that as a result, my husband is much better off than many immigrants.
I simply think that since those costs are large, and impact the public charge issue maybe more than any other, US citizens and LPRs who want to sponsor immigrants should be required to plan accordingly.
Obviously, it won't be as much of an issue for working-age adults. The larger impact is for those bringing elderly parents over.

Rephrased:
Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me (with health insurance),
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

2018JNJ reacted to Amal93 in Travel Ban Support Group
well it favors those that are well off. So much for "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.." and its ridiculous to require immigrants to obtain insurance within such a short amount of time (30 days). It takes at least half that time to just obtain the green card and social security card.

2018JNJ reacted to HKS in Workload transfer, when?
Yes. It appears we are at the mercy of the USCIS.
I keep worrying that the current administration will stop immigration all together.
I have contacted my senator about processing times and the imbalances. But, alas nothing has come of it.

To update this story/thread..
To marry in the Philippines required 2 trips.
First trip..US Consulate visit, CENOMAR for both, engagement, 4 hr church marriage counseling, 8 hr govt. pre-marriage seminar, application for marriage license.
That took a full work week.
3 weeks later..
Second trip..Wedding, honeymoon...That took a full work week. 😛
Took 2 weeks to get PSA copy of Marriage Certificate.
Added wife to Medical Insurance.
Submitted I130/a on July 23, 2019.
USCIS received on July 25, 2019.
Got an IOE receipt at Potomac SC in VA.

Lol..one thing I learned about the previous and this experience is that there are many "experts" on Filipino immigration.
People spending thousands of dollars on "lawyers" just to review simple petitions when "lawyers" are even less informed.
Don't get me started on Filipino folklore, misconceptions, conspiracies, and things that are just plain cute in a childlike way.
I enjoy being there, as it's so different than the high-paced, high-stressed way of life here.

Complete Part 4., Item Numbers 45. - 50., as applicable, if the beneficiary relative used a passport or travel document to travel to the United States ..

Fill out the I-130 with the old (current) info. Get the new passport while waiting and then either use it at the DS-260 stage or at the interview.
Last July after I filed our I-130 Mary went to Mexico City Embassy to get the NBI clearance and new passport. We actually got the passport back before the NBI slip. We updated at the interview. Very easy!

When you get married your wife's married name will be; GIVEN NAME, PREVIOUS SURNAME is now middle name, HUSBAND'S SURNAME is now her surname.
You will want to complete the I-130 in her married name so that her green card will be in her married name, thus she will need her passport in her married name. If your wife does not get her passport in her married name you will have to file the I-130 in her maiden name, and her green card will be in her maiden name as well .... but the marriage certificate will be in her married name.
K.I.S.S. New passport in married name. (she will attend CFO to get this done so that will be handled )

Get the new passport there. It is cheap to do. Cheaper than getting a new Green Card in the US. If not she can carry a copy of her marriage license around.
It will not affect the process if she gets it while thing are pending. Make the change when doing the DS-260 or at the interview.

I left 3 days after our Manila wedding. No issues at all.

2018JNJ reacted to carmel34 in K1 Fiance' Not Stay
Make sure new passport name matches marriage certificate name matches I-130 name, DS-260 name, etc. exactly. My husband and I ran into some issues because of very slight differences, we're hoping everything can be worked out at his interview in 2 weeks. All the best and good luck this time around! Our process was 11 months from filing the I-130 to interview.

2018JNJ got a reaction from Matrix13 in Cebu to Florida flight options
Korean Air from Cebu to Incheon SK to Atlanta is a good flight with a good plane with good stewardesses. I flew that route many times. Only hick-em-up will be immigration in Atlanta..it is slow..so expect an hour or so for her to clear...and Atlanta traffic.
She's not going to want to travel anymore once she lands..so I would see about getting a hotel outside the city so she can get some rest. I don't think she will be up to the drive to Jacksonville after traveling 20+ hours.

One of my all time favorite movies!!!!!
We will get through this but the fact that they say everything is complete for Aira but they don't know why they haven't issued Case Closed is what has me baffled.
Tuition is due on Friday (36,000 php downpayment) and that was why they expedited us. They have to be set for school just in case. Oh well. I shouldn't complain. Our K-1 took 10 months at USCIS. Our CR-1 was only 4. Always look on the bright side of life! (for you Python fans)
