Hi Jane88! Any luck in contacting uscis?
Hi Tyssa! I did e request online, supposedly should hear back by May 16th. So I’m just waiting. My lawyer said e request should do the job, but once everything opens up and If by then I don’t hear back from them I will make an Infopass appointment...this is frustrating

Hi! So nice to hear from you. Mine took about 60 days. Do you have a tracking number?
Hi Tyssa!! So nice to hear from you too! I only have IOE number from when I paid the fee, But when I check status on USCIS it says ‘immigrant visa fee received in November’. Been saying same thing for the past 4 months already.

Hi guys! Hope everyone is safe and sound during these difficult times. For those of you who already interviewed overseas and came back to the US, how long did it take for your green card to arrive? It’s getting close to 120 day mark for me and I’m wondering if I should start contacting USCIS regarding the delay.

Oh, wow. I hope they let me speak in English b/c I cannot express myself in Ukrainian very well. I came here in 1999 and I only communicate in English including w/my husband and all my friends. Regarding Police Certificate - I had a relative getting one for me (in Ukraine with power of attorney) dated Sep. 11, 2019. It should be good for 6 month to upload but I have to give to the lawyer a copy to upload (cannot give her original so she would lose it). She told me copy is enough even though I don't trust what she's saying. She charged $$ for waiver and NVC at the same time so I am stuck with her. DS-260 I will fill out myself.
You will have to bring ALL of the ORIGINALS to the interview, including Original copy of police certificate. Copy is only good to be uploaded to CEAC, that’s about it.

Thank you so much for all the information and welcome back! I feel very lucky to have a chance to hear your experience and advise. I will be going through embassy in Kyiv, I know they are strict but I will be prepared.
So same embassy!!! Yay! Don’t be worried, just be prepared, and don’t forget to upload the ORIGINAL POLICE CERTIFICATE to CEAC when you receive it in Ukraine. I forgot to upload it and they gave me hard time, saying they have to do my job for me...Even tho I had uploaded original police certificate that I got from the Ukrainian Embassy here in the USA. I did notice most of COs nowadays are Ukrainians in the Embassy, I have gone thru that embassy 4 times in my past and all the times COs were Americans. The POE officer was really nice tho! Good luck, and update us on your journey

I came here on K1 visa too, sorry to ask so many questions but what Q. did they ask about previous petitioner? Like his DOB or workplace? Thank you so much.
Which embassy will you be going through? I had a feeling they would be asking about previous petitioner, and they did indeed. But every embassy is different. She asked the full name of a previous petitioner, also asked how long we stayed together and when we split, like the actual month, and who initiated the split...CO also asked why I never returned home after we broke up... Good luck at your interview, just be honest and try not to be nervous. Today, I entered the US with IR1 visa and they also asked me few questions about my past K1 at the POE, so just be ready

Hi Jane88. Congratulations on your journey. What type of visa did you have and how did you respond to the officer for your overstay?
I had previously come on a K1 visa but never married the petitioner, even though have spent 4 years in the US with him. I just explained the situation, CO asked few more questions about him and that was it. I also said that I was too young to understand the consequences of my overstay at that time. I was 20 years old when I came here on K1

Congrats on visa approval !!!
Whats the time frame , in your case , after 601A approval till interview in Ukraine ?
How does it all work after approval?
260 , NVC , appointment day in consulate , police certificate , medical
Would really appreciate some info
I got approved w 601A and only then realized that my passport expired , had to fly to San Francisco Ukranian consulate, now waiting hopefully till the mid January to file 260 w new passport .
Thanks in advance
I also had to get a new passport at the consulate in Washington D.C., but my lawyer warned me at the beginning of the process that I would be required a new unexpired passport at NVC stage, so I was lucky to get it well in advance. But it only took about 1.5 months to receive it. So I’m sure you will get yours soon

Thank you! And congratulations to you as well! You are very close to the end of this journey! Regarding NVC stage, most of my documents were submitted back in February, before my I 601A even was approved. Once my Waiver was approved ( I believe it was mid May) my lawyer submitted the last doc that was missing ( if I remember it correctly it was tax transcripts and tax returns for 2018) and then it took about a month or so for NVC to send me an email with scheduled interview date. I had close to a month and a half from receiving NVC email to an actual interview date, so it gave me plenty of time to prepare and book a flight. I’m not sure where and how long you will be staying in Ukraine before the interview, but if you are tight on time, I would request police clearance certificate while you are still in the US. You may contact pretty much any licensed translation bureau or agency and they will be able to get it for you and mail it to any address in Ukraine or you can pick it up yourself. I believe I paid like $50 and once they received the certificate they mailed it to my parents house. If you are planning to get it yourself while in Ukraine, mind that it takes up to 30 days to get one. Most of agencies will claim that they can get it for you in few business days, but I would be cautious about that. I paid to receive my certificate in 4 days but it took close to 20 days for them to actually receive it. So prepare accordingly and make sure you have plenty of time to get one. Medical is easy, nothing to worry about there

Hi Jane88, could you share how was your interview and what questions you were asked? How long did you stay inside embassy? Also, if you have a friend with you, can this person come inside medical clinic to wait for you or she has to wait outside? Thank you in advance.
Hi, nata38! Medical was super quick, I was scheduled for 8 am and was out of the clinic at about 10:30am. I attended my medical alone, but I’ve seen quite few ppl having a friend or a family member with them. The clinic I had my medical in was huge so there was plenty of waiting areas. I don’t see why you would have an issue bringing someone to the medical with you. The interview Itself was about 5-10 mins long, it took about an hour and a half from the moment I got in to the embassy till the time I got out. I was asked when and where I met my husband; when we first moved in together, when we got married; she asked about our child, when the baby was born; asked where my husband is from and if he is currently with me in my home country ( we are both same nationality). As she was asking me those questions she was typing constantly on her computer, so I feel like that made the interview a bit longer . She questioned me about my overstay, what visa was my last entry to the US and why I didn’t come back home whenever I had a chance earlier...

Things in Ghana take a long time smh. So it can take between 2-5 weeks to get the visa.
I can’t tell for Ukraine, I just hope it won’t be long

My interview was at Accra on 31st October. Case was reviewed and changed from AP to ready on 12/11/2019. Please any idea on when I can expect my visa to be issued? It was approved at the interview and I was given the GSS distribution sheet to create an account which I have done.

Thank you! My interview was at 7am I was let in after showing my appointment letter. When I got inside I was instructed to put the papers on a specific order with copies behind the originals. After that I was called for a pre interview which is just to make sure you have all the necessary paperwork. After that I waited for about 30min until I was called for the interview where I was asked about my previous trips to the US and why I decided to stay after my last entry. Besides that the questions were about my job (I was there for an employment-based visa) and just to confirm the info on my DS260. Following my lawyers advice I only gave short answers. No need to be nervous, you are going there to personally present your waiver and answer what you already answered on your DS260. Have copies of everything. My lawyer prepared 3 envelopes for me, one for the medical appointment, fingerprints and interview with all the necessary paperwork. Good luck with your interview, keep us updated!!!! 🙏🏻
Thank you so much Tyssa. Will update you guys next week on what happens

Hi guys! I just got back from my home country! Everything went well and I should receive my green card in a few weeks!
No need to be nervous or anxious about the consulate interview! Be prepared to answer questions confirming the information on your DS260 and you will be okay. Don’t be discouraged if you haven’t got your approval yet or if you got an RFE I know it’s hard and that things are taking a lot longer on this administration but your day will come too and it will be all so worth it! Let’s keep informing and lifting each other on this thread! 🙏🏻
Congratulations Tyssa! What a relief for you! Can you share a little bit more how your interview went and what other questions did CO ask you? We would greatly appreciate that! I just got to my home country and my interview is next week! Super nervous!

After POE still no green card?
in General Immigration-Related Discussion

I am in the same boat, entered on December 24th 2019 on IR1 visa- still no green card in hand. My 120 day mark just passed a week ago...I already did E-request online, supposedly should here something back from them by May 16th. I’ve read on forums that it happens a lot... Apparently when CBP officer stamps the passport it doesn’t always appear in the system of the Service Center assigned to produce the card. I’ve also read best thing to do is to schedule Infopass appointment, that’s what I’m planning to do when offices actually open up again (unless my GC arrives by that time). Please keep us updated
