  1. Hi everyone, wanted to thank all of those who helped me throughout this process with your comments and info. :luv:

My fiance had his interview on April 15 and was approved at the Buenos Aires embassy. His appointment was at 1 pm, he got there at 11 am with a whole bunch of evidence in a carry on--yes...luggage...."just in case" he said lol ...well anyway,,,he said the officer called him in and only asked him a few questions...he first looked at the application and all documentation they already had and made a comment about 'alot of emails",,,my bf added,,yeah and i have alot more here (referring to the 'evidence' ) the officer didnt even ask to see any evidence,,in fact he says he didnt even open the carry-on. The officer asked, how we met, how many times did we meet ....when was the last time we saw each other,,,asked where he was born..etc then he just typed some stuff in the computer, handed him the yellow paper for dhl, placed a sticker on his passport ,,,congratulated him, said his visa was approved and said best wishes for his new life in the US. and that was all.

we are so happy!!! I will be leaving for Buenos Aires on monday and will return together! ... cant wait to see my bf..after over 9 months :dance:

Thanks again,, and best wishes for those on this journey...

Congratulations  and good luck for the next steps to come.

  2. HI everyone, had a question, maybe if someones come across the same prob. My fiance has his interview next week april 15, but I left my job and my last day was last Friday, for the interview my bf has all my previous job info, letter, and check stubs,,

question is ...do you think they will ask him if i currently have a job?? Im nervous about this.

    I appreciate any info.

    Mely

Don't worry. They won't questions the paperwork you gave to him. They will only ask questions about you, and the relationship with you.

    Good luck.

  3. Hello VJ-ers, thought I would share this funny email I got yesterday:

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL *** The last processing action taken on your case Receipt Number: WAC######## Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) Current Status: Approval notice sent. Sincerely, The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

As you can see from my timeline, my fiance has been here for almost two months and we are getting married on Saturday. Gee USCIS, thanks for the email four months later!!! Unbelievable!

They have bigger issues then updating e-mails.... They have problems updating the database also... We had to wait 1 months and a half, and set an Infopass to have the "profile" updated into the central SAVE database... However, the USCIS officer say that; she said: "There si nothing wrong here.... all the info is valid and available... " ... she checked a few boxes there and didn't tell us anything, and the very next day we've got a call from SSN Admin that my fiancee profile sudenly showed up ... If we wouldn't do the Infopass, we were probably still waiting for the SSN to verify the EAD issued by USCIS ... Gee ... Government agencies doesn't trust one another at all ... and they didn't recognize documents full of security things issued by another government agency that they are partner with ...

    It is just amaizing ...

  4. Hi everyone,,,Im desperate!! its been over a month that my bf dropped off papers at the embassy and we have not heard from them, NO interview date yet,, Ive emailed them with no success, they have not responded. Anyone know what could be going on? Ive searched other cases in Argentina and its usually not this long.

    thanks!

    Mely :help:

    Hi,

I'm sorry to hear about the waiting. My fiancee mailed the DS230-I as she was instructed, along with a passport copy,2 passport size pictures, and the checklist. Then she gathered all the other paperwork for the interview, then she called for an appointment for the medical exam. They scheduled the interview on the phone the very next week after she got her medical done. Each embassy has its own procedures and waiting times. Read again the instructions from packet 3 and check if it says anything regarding the appointment for the interview and the steps to be followed. The istructions my fiancee received with DS 230-I had 3 steps: 1-return this form along with a passoprt copy, 2 passport type pictures, and the checklist signed after all the paperwork had been put together, then call for medical exam and interview appointment (they can be scheduled in the same day.)

    Patience and good luck!

  5. Hi Everyone,

We just passed the AOS Interview!!! Whiiiewwww ... The interview took place at USCIS in Portland Oregon. The immigration officer ( a lady) come and picked us up from the waiting room 5 minutes past the interview time. The interview was easy, the officer was friendly and she asked us how did we meet, when, if my wife did meet my parents and when, how did the wedding went, and then she asked several questions from the AOS application (Yes/No questions).

After about 30 minutes she congratulate us for passing the interview. She said that the green card will be in the mail in about 3 weeks.

My wife didn't receive a passport stamp. However, the immigration officer removed the I-94 form from the my wife's passport.

Portland Oregon USCIS Main Office seems to be fine from interview stand point.

    Good luck everyone! :thumbs::yes:

  6. When we changed Claudeth's name on her SSN it took about six weeks for SSA to verify everything with the USCIS

Did it take 6 weeks or that's how long it took from the time the application was submitted until the card was received? Could have been sitting on someone's desk for 5 weeks. Said it I don't know how many times, people can't compare their application time to anyone else. The main thing is to keep after the SSA office to make sure they do what they are supposed to do and follow up when they are supposed to.

    Hi Everyone,

My wife finally received the SSN after 2 months and a half of struggle. After our second unsuccesful visit with SSA, when she learned that she is still not into that SAVE system, we had an Infopass with USCIS to ask what is going on. At her 2nd visit at SSA she was lucky to bump into a romania clerk at the counter there. He listen to her and give us a note to show at the Info pass so they klnow what's wrong. He took our home phone number and he said that he will check again the SAVE system after our infopass and if her profile will be up he will let us know.

We went to USCIS and the lady there was like" Nothing is wrong here... look at these screens, this is what SSA see when they get into SAVE... and she pass really quick through cheking different bokes to pass from one screen to another in that really old DOS based computer program ... She couldn't give us any real advice but to wait because everything seems to be fine.... IT was weird how the very next day, the guy at SSA called us leaving a message that her profile magically showed up and the application is approved. My wife received SSN 6 days later in the mail.... what an adventure...

    Thanks everyone,

    C&V

  7. C&V, if you don't hear back from SSA after 4 weeks, suggest that you go back to the SSA office and follow up on result of manual verification.

It's been 6 weeks since we applied for SSN. About 2 weeks ago (when we reached the 4 weeks since we applied for SSN) we went back to the SSA office, and the same idiot clerk told us the same old story : "The EAD card didn't verify, and until it verifies it is nothing we can do about it! " Crazy people.... I read that Social Security Administration and USCIS have a partnership on a website named "E-verify" where employers can get in there for a fee, and electronically verify the applicants EAD cards.

I don't understand how comes they cannot verify the document their partner issued...

We set an infopass to check on USCIS and ask them why their card is not recognized by SSA...

We will probably go back to SSA soon because it is way out of line....

  8. Hi,

We just received the EAD card on Thursday and we went to SSA office on Friday to apply for SSN. Well... the clerk there wasn't able to verify the EAD card (he said it was too new, just one week old  what? ) so he gave us a receipt saying that the SSN will be issued in no more than 6 weeks... Did anyone had a problem like this?

I've read that most of the people got the SSN in one week or less... Did you let your EAD card to "age" ... get older... so the government computers can exchange the information :reading: ? Or maybe because of the holidays, the computers have some days off and they didn't have enough time to exchange :secret:EAD numbers and information... :jest:

    Thanks.

We went with my husband's green card and we got the same receipt you did - he got his card in 2 weeks. They probably just have to manually verify the info because you may not be in the system, not too big a worry. If a month or so goes by without it, then I'd start to worry.

OK! This is more like it! Yes, that's what the clerk sait that he had to manually verify the information. However, the statement on the receipt that it takes about 6 weeks to resolve kind of upset me.

    We will wait and see!

    Thanks Meow Mix!

A Happy New Year to ALL of you! :jest::jest::goofy::pop:

  9. You don't even need the EAD card, if you came in with a K-1. I lost the useful link that explains this (K-1 is "work authorized" for this purpose, even though you can't work without EAD). Most SSA workers don't know this, though, so you have to print off the rules and point at it for them.

    Hi,

We are 6 months away from the date of entry in the US, do K1 espired 3 months ago. When my fiancee first arrive in the US, based on K1 visa she had the right to work and she could apply for SSN back then. She was authorized to work for the 3 month of K1 validity. However, we didn't do that, we got married and now once we received EAD we applied for SSN.

The purpose of SSN is to pay taxes, and receive benefits, and you cannot do that if are not authorized to work. After K1 expired, my fiancee lost her right to work till EAD approval came through.

Thank you for your insight, but is doen't apply to our case.

  11. Hi Everyone,

My wife went to her biometrics appointment last Thursday November 29th. She took with her her passport with her maiden name, the Biometrics Appointment letter with her married name, and based on the information we read around here, she took all the NOA we received, and the Marriage certificate (original). They didn't ask for anything but her passport and the appointment letter. B)

However, she had to fill up some paperwork where she supposed to write the NOA numbers, but they were to be found on the appointment letter also, so she didn't actually need anything but the appointment letter, and her passport.

I believe that it is safe to have a copy of the marriage certificate with you if you change your name and you do not have any form of picture ID to show your new name.

    Good luck everyone!

  12. USCIS received our packet on 09/30/07 and it took only 46 days for my wife to receive her EAD. We were expecting it to arrive some time in December but to receive it in this time frame and only 20 days after her biometrics was a pleasant surprise.:dance:

We can only hope her AOS is transferred to California and we don't have to have an interview like so many others.

    Good luck to all,

    Charlie

    Cool!!! Congratulations!!!

    Multa rabdare iti doresc!!!Comunicarea ,bat-o vina,e importanta!!!

    Un gand bun,

    Cory
