  1. Hello all need some help.

We are nearing the 90days of my wifes fiancee visa we have now been married for 2 months now. My question is I am still recovering from the trip to the Philippines financial wise. Must we file the papers within the 90days. I earn over the 125% needed to support but do not have the $500 yet to file the papers. We have the papers ready just waiting for a little extra to send them. What happens if we do not get the papers in before the 90days?

  2. Our interview is Feb 13 and we're still waiting for the packet (in Cagayan de Oro). We could have a problem because we plan to do the medical the week of Jan 8 and we need the interview letter.

you can have an early medical even without the appointment letter. bring a copy of you I129-F NOA2 (showing your petition has been approved)...call ahead the local numbers @ USE and St. Lukes and to let them know you're picking up a copy of the packet since you haven't received it yet. anyway, you still have about 3 weeks to wait for the packet.

You may also print out your medical and interview schedule from the website and show that to the guard.

For contents of packet 4, you can always download all of them from uling's signature. Receiving packet 4 is not really a big deal since there are other ways to get them.

I have some general questions regarding the forms for packet 4 for anyone, especially those who've already had their interview:

    1. Filling out the forms with hand writing vs. typing them - Is this a choice for all the forms? For example, DS-156 says it can filled out online and filed electronically - has anyone done it this way? For consistency, I thought it'd be best for Jinky to fill them out by hand.

    2. Affidavit of Support (I-134) - the sample form provided here on VJ shows blanks for, 'amount in savings', 'total property', 'stocks', etc... and only lists annual salary. If my salary is well over the limit requirement, should I leave the other parts blank or should I have them all filled out? Is a bank statement then necessary if I leave out any list of savings?

    3. Income tax returns - I have my w-2 for 2005 tax year. If it the entire tax return isn't required, I'd rather just give them my w-2 unless somebody here can tell me if the Manila Embassy looks at anything additional that I would include.

    ........

    Additional questions...

    4. Regarding Jinky's 5 year old son - has anyone here also had a child go through the medical? Because he is so young I worry about the day long process and how Jinky can tend to his needs when she is also going through examination?

    5. On the embassy website, it recommends that you not make any travel plans before the interview, yet I have read where many people buy their plane tickets in advance for the cheaper airfare. Has anyone ever been asked during the interview whether they purchased airfare ahead of time and will that reflect negatively?

    ....

Sorry to throw so many questions out here, but I don't have internet access at home right now and it's difficult for me to find the time to read through all the posts while I'm at work. I'm at a computer lab right now typing this.

Thanks again, PW, for keeping that list and to everyone here for all the valuable information! I was so excited after Jinky got her interview date, I didn't sleep at all last night! :star:

I know that the DS156 must be filled out electronically. From what i have read that should not even be an option to fill that form out by hand.

  3. Well just noticed on the letter from the Embassy, meaning my copy informing me that packet was sent to Liza. I for some reason just noticing at the bottom where it says "traveling applicants" it shows her bday as mar05 when it is in fact the 15th somewhere a 1 became a 0. we have put correct bday on her forms. With all the talk of names being mispelled and problems that can present. Will this cause us a problem? her birth record states the 15th. Thanks

  4. Hey all saw our interview date on the manila embassey website so we know we have that secured. How long before she should recieve the packet. Been 10 days now. Thanks

Looks like most folks with Jan interview dates have been receiving packets this week. If the typhoon does not interfere hopefull you will get it next week as I am sure the Embassy is closed for Bonafacio Day 30 Nov and 1 Dec. She can also go to the K-1 Guidelines on this site as well as the US Embassy site and download all the requirements and forms for Packet 4 without waiting. Good luck, Payato

Worked out just like I had hoped. Figured if I posted this message that maybe would end up getting it today. Hahaha got home from work had email from my Zee and she said packet has arrived. Now we wait till Jan.

  5. Sasha's interview has been scheduled for 8:30 am on Thursday the 30th! She is so excited and nervous! I'm just happy that I can be here with her for everything :)

Although, for those of you going through the consulate here in Kiev, don't expect much help if you try to phone them for information. They are rude to me, and VERY rude to Sasha, and they always just direct us to read the instructions on the website.

Despite that, we are hoping for the ultimate good news by the end of the week! Wish us luck!

And thanks for everyone's support, Sash and I appreciate it, and we wish everybody a smooth visa journey!

Good luck hope all goes well. Good things come to those who wait!!

  6. I'm using a co-sponsor just in case. I was also a college student in the past 3 years, so my taxes filed were for work study jobs that did not pay as much. Although I have a good job now that pays above the poverty guidelines, it is still a probationary job since I have not been there for a full year (I started to work here in Feb.) I just didn't want to risk anything and have my dad as my co-sponsor.

Not 100% sure but I do not belive you can use a co-sponser if obtaining K-1 through the Philippines. Can anyone else verify that.

  7. Hey guys, Really good news today....My fiance got her visa from Delbros today out of the blue! She didn't get a text or anything saying they were sending it. I called them the same day it was release and they said there wasn't any news. I was planning on bugging the Congressman's office next week again :P We are so relieved and happy at this point. A pretty good suprise for Thanksgiving! WOW, is this finally happening?? :help: Anyways, i thought i would say thank you to the people who prayed for us, gave us help and encouragement. We thank God that our prayers were finally answered, maybe not in our time but God's time. ;)

    Congrats to both of you!!!

  8. Hello everyone. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Anyone still stuffed?

I started a new Thanksgiving tradition. Since I couldn't spend the holiday with Jennie....that will come next year....and all of my family lives in other parts of the US, I decided to have a Pinoy Thanksgiving!

Well, if you can call it that. I basically did nothing all day but watch football and eat Longanisa and rice.

Anyway. Can you please change our Manila Received date on the list from 11/7/06 to 11/2/06?

    Thank you. Ingat ka everyone.

    Mike and Jennie

Nice Mike glad to see I wasn't the only one to follow that plan. My kids were 800 miles away others elsewhere so we took advantage of my day off and had nice online chat after that. Football and that 70's show marathon. As for the main course cereal and toast.

  9. OMG....We didn't know about a cenomar! It amazes me that I have an atorney and he has said nothing of this! Where does she get a cenomar?

When my wife went for her interview at the U.S. Embassy in Manila they had already acquired a CENOMAR. She was a K3 visa applicant, already married.

So, just because you are already married does not guarantee that a CENOMAR is not necessary.

Also, don't waste your time or money getting a CENOMAR: the U.S. Embassy only accepts the CENOMARS they order.

This was true in 2003 and from what I'm reading has not changed.

    Hope this helps!

We have already gotten our CENOMAR can any one validate whether or not this will do? Does the embassey have it ready when you get to the interview?

  10. :dance::dance::dance: Got my medica and interview date...yyahoooooooooooooooo.....Medical: January 4,2007 Interview: January 11, 2007..

  11. I know we are sure hoping to be on the list in a few days. left NVC sept 18th what you guys think. Right on the edge maybe. This is torture no other way to say it.

Most probably you are since you were affected by the IMBRA!!!! Don't worry you will have the January interview;-) Can feel it in the air!!!heheheh!!!

thanks for the karma!! sure need as much as we can get. :)

  12. I know we are sure hoping to be on the list in a few days. left NVC sept 18th what you guys think. Right on the edge maybe. This is torture no other way to say it.

In my opinion the torture doesn't stop once you get a date. The interview date only ampted-up the stress as I started to obsess and fret over the details for the interview and all that surrounds it. Torture won't end until she clears immigration and customs in Detroit and is on her way to Pennsylvania.

For sure the torture started the second I had to leave her. Each little part of this as the site says VisaJourney is just a new form of it. Just different things to have to worry about. I hope your interview goes well.

  13. Our petition has been approved and just waiting for interview date. My question is this. I am not considered a full-time employee where I work. However I clearly make far above the 125% I have letter from employer stating salary and stuff. Pay stubs as well clealy showing my earnings. Will this be a problem any help appreciated?

  14. Well I agree with many of you. There is no way around it and I think for most of us we realize its just part of the process. Lets face it in any relationship you are not talking all the time. Some days it may be just small talk. For sure chatting for hours everyday will make it even harder to find things to talk about. You are apart so you don't talk about things like we need groceries, car fixed, etc. the day to day things of living together. We have found that we try and have only one really long chat day and that is sunday. We both work 6 day weeks and with 13hr time difference one of us always at work. What we make sure of is that we at least send a short email to the other to let them know you are thinking of them. Also found text messaging I can text from yahoo IM to her CP and works great. We actually work as each others alarm clocks in the morning. We found this to be a great idea. When she gets to the office we text for a little and before I go to work same thing. So maybe just try not spending so much time online or phone.

One mans opinion and we all know about opinons

  15. What have people experienced as far as how long it takes to get through customs once you arrive in the US. We would be coming into Detroit.

It should not take that long to get through customs. I think the real question you want to ask is how long to get through immigration.

As with any POE it is really time of day dependant on how many other international flights are being processed at the same time as your flight. The more concurrent flights the longer the ques. DTW is a big airport but I do not believe they handle that many international flights.

Yeah I guess thats what I really meant to say, immigration. Thanks
