I used the credit card option and it worked just fine.  I think it is a relative new option.

    Good morning everyone,

Yesterday Tuesday December 3rd, I had my interview at Federal Plaza on 7th floor. My wife and I got there pretty early, almost 1 1/2 ahead of interview schedule. I did not foresee that there as a significant wait time just to check in to get your biometrics done picture/fingerprint. We waited in line for over an hour and over another hour and a half just waiting to get called in. We literally did not get called in for the interview until 2 hours after scheduled interview time.

Anyways interview went well, it literally took 5 mins. We got called in, this is exactly what he asked
Where we got married and asked for pics Gave our wedding Album Asked for financial Documents Joint Tax return Copy of purchase offer for house Asked for our birth certificate Asked if we worked Interviewing officer was  very neutral, not rude but not smiling either. At the end of the interview he got up he said everything looks great and that I should be getting the card in the mail within the month.

My wife and I were starving so we decided to eat around the are. Literally 2 hours after the interview checked the app and status said that card is ordered to be produced!!

My suggestion, if possible please please please arrive 3 hours earlier than interview.

    Good luck everyone!

Guys, yesterday I saw on my Informed Delivery that I was getting something from USCIS. I was disappointed after I was able to (barely) make out the text on the first line as being ”application for employment authorization and advanced”. They’re just sending me another combo card.

However, today my I-485 status was updated to Card/Document Production. And when I track it I can see that the card will be here Tuesday! I feel incredibly relieved. And ready to be done with USCIS for another year and nine months. I’m going to renew my expired ID, get my driver’s license, book travel, and respond to requests from work about my expiring work authorization extension

It took them seven weeks post interview to approve so everyone who’s stuck should not give up hope for a good result despite delays.

Hello everyone, very glad to find this thread on here with my fellow new yorkers. I just want to give people some news. My PD is May 24, 2018 and I am very happy to just received my appointment notice in the mail. My interview will be at Federal Plaza downtown on Feb 13th. It has been a long wait but here comes the most important (probably nerve-wracking) step in this whole process. Getting ready to prep for this very soon!

Wishing everyone a smooth timeline and don't lose hope. I am very happy that my case has about 8.5 months wait. I was expecting much longer to be honest.

Hi, my wife is an October 2017 Brooklyn filer (still awaiting interview). Not sure if there's a better place to share this experience, but my wife and I (I'm a USC) decided to travel with her AP document over the holidays. Coming back at JFK we were put into separate lines (her in the "visitor" line) which is different than what I've read elsewhere. Her processing of course took longer (the non-citizen line was about an hour) and when she talked to the border agent he took her into the additional screening room. After reviewing her AP document she wasn't questioned any further and they stamped the document with "PAROLED". Everyone was polite.

I know traveling with an AP is a risk (we were anxious) so just wanted to share in case others have decided to travel despite the possibility of it complicating the AOS process. At least in our case it was very smooth coming back through the border.

So sorry to hear about his mother. Hope you guys are doing well.

We're flying out to Sweden from JFK this afternoon, coming back in January on combo, I don't really have any worries other than losing my combo card while in Sweden.

Anyone here have any news on their GCs?

Hey guys! Hope everyone's been doing well  I've been absent mostly because nothing's really happening with my GC but I'm excited to catch up on what's going on for everyone!

We're traveling to Sweden today, coming back on combo card (I never lose things but I'm so obnoxious about losing it while there for some reason). I'm super excited to get to spend the holidays with my family & friends back in Sweden. But I'm also excited about coming back to New York next year and continue to try and integrate myself here. It's been going a bit slower than I thought, which is fine, but I just can't wait till I'm completely settled.

Ok so here’s a little update. My card was supposed to be delivered on monday 12/17/18 and for some ridiculous reason the post office didn’t. After many frustrating calls and visits, they just delivered my card, my ssn i got it on Wednesday, they hadn’t even delivered mail to the entire building for 5 days, that’s why the whole system went upside down and don’t get me started with usps and their customer service ethics which are None existent BUT I FINALLY AM DONE WITH THIS PART OMG!!!! I literally cried you guys 😭😭😭😭😭😭 what an exhausting and anxiety driven journey but it’s done for now omg!!!!

My husband reentered (JFK ) with is EAD/AP combo card, per him they just asked him why he visited Jamaica (his mom funeral) and then verified somethings in the computer, stamped his passport and sent him on his way.

So basically at AOS we are talking about 3 forms you send in. (2 are not mandatory)
All the forms go to Chicago if I remember correctly, but then they send it to NBC at Lee's Summit in MO (close to Kansas City) where they process it.
For the EAD and AP they stay there and get processed mostly in order like the K1. (Still not 100% in order because of RFEs, background checks, and maybe just because some ppl work faster/harder then the others plus they don't finish a month completely but start to work on a new months which is weird to me too, but not unheard of)
For AOS after they process it and no RFE it gets sent to your local office (Ready to be scheduled to an interview). AND there are HUGE differences in wait time. As you probably know there are more desired states to move, more desired cities etc so the offices are not scaled up hence you get a backlog.... So there is no conspiracy in that.... You can move to North Carolina any time to get faster AOS. Nobody is stopping you from doing that...

And for why they are damn slow... We can have conspiracy theories there... The USCIS is self funded, but the other agencies they work with are not and I don't want to do politics here, but that's what somebody told me who knows a lot about USCIS and immigration processes that since the other agencies have "other priorities assigned by the government" the background checks are slowed down a bit and since 2016 the application numbers are skyrocketed and here you have to think about that it's not just you waiting for AOS, EAD. There are a bunch of other visa types, naturalization applications, work visas, etc So that contributes a lot of the slowdown....

Clearly you guys need to take a chill pill, this forum is honestly filled with so much hate. I said that what bothered me was the fact that it would take another 2 months, when my interview was already scheduled. As a republican myself I understand what happened and I'm not complaining about that.

Most foreign people don't get why this mouring day is important or even who was GWB. For some, this closing day has an impact in their plans, I have a friend in Colombia traveling to a different city for her K1 interview and they told her in the embassy door that they will be rescheduling the appointment due to this.

I would be mad too if I had invested in plane tickets, hotel reservations, and had the agony of the previous hours to the interview just for nothing. But I also understand it's out of everyone's hands...

    It goes both ways:
Stop taking everything personal, he's not disrespecting anyone and it's a legit frustration.
Stop taking everything personal, the world doesn't go around your interview date.

JA is not going to focus on pics and whats app.  They want proof of relationship, focus on how u met, started a relationship, and continued the relationship until he proposed.  Also, how are u continuing the relationship.  You stated you were concerned of him getting a one year ban.

FYI, did the Visa Coach warn you about terms of endearment in your conversations will get your K-1 denied.

No one is judging that you went to a Visa Coach, some people hire lawyers, its the same.  Just make sure you are receing sound judgement.  Cause whomever gave you the concept that JA is a high fraud country is wrong.

Jamaica is not a high fraud country. Date/time stamps are good and can also be written but keep in mind photos are secondary evidence, as well as WhatsApp or text messages. Also, the conversation is equally important. The embassy wants to know you are a bonafide couple so conversations about everyday life matters are important versus just saying I love you and can’t wait to see you, especially important if you don’t have longevity. A simple search of this website could’ve told you 1-4 and saved you $200. This process really isn’t hard unless you have a complicated case. Focus on submitting primary evidence... evidence that shows plenty of FaceTime such as boarding passes, copies of passport stamps, receipts with both of your names and also maybe if you have any joint accounts submit that. We went through a few years ago and I also know other people who came from Jamaica. If the relationship and evidence are solid, you’re good to go! Good luck!😉

It's hard to say what I think here. I agree not to get married, but you have a lot of responsibility.

She predicated her actions on the fact that you signed a document stating that you wanted to marry her.

You got cold feet for whatever reason, but chose not to contact USCIS and cancel the Visa.

If it was me, I would give her a plane ticket, a few months lost pay, some extra money for expenses while she is in USA.
I'd look at it that I would rather pay too much for my mistake, than f...k someone over because I was clueless.

But then I pride myself on being responsible and honorable.

aaaaalright - we are back - and APPROVED!

well it was very interesting to start this off...

first of all, we had to show our ID's and verify it's really us, and then he started going through the K1 application and verified
information i filled out there (such as my mom's name, birthdate, city i was born, my job back home etc) and then asked things
about my hubby (also job, divorce verification, etc) and then said ok let's talk about the GC now since you are here for that.
and so he started of saying "so i see you guys got married may 12th, do you have any pictures of the wedding?" so i handed him
the pile i printed out (which was about 20 pictures in total, 4 of the wedding, the rest of our meetings in within the last 1.5 years that i
have not showed or shared with uscis yet). with the pictures he asked us if we had a reception or why our family wasn't there.
we explained to him that we are planning on a big wedding for oct 2019, as we postponed our oct 2018 wedd to make sure all
my family/friends can fly in. he then asked us how we met, where we met the first time, how we continued our relationship.
he was amazed how many times we were able to visit each other as he said they get a lot of couples that are not as fortunate.
then he asked me how many times i have been to the US, if i had a visa before (yes F1 student visa), and asked mostly questions from
the form and verified that i knew the answers.

that was basically it he said it would take about 30-45 days to get the GC in the mail and that we'd have to make sure to let
them know if we move and have a new address as it'd be a struggle to re-send the card and all that! so yep, that was it.
at 11:15 we were out and it took us literally 30 min in total.

also, as it couldn't get any better, i got my first temporary job starting on monday  wohoooo!!!! it is not my dream job, but
will do to get out the house for now!
