If your embassy asks for submission of I-134, it is best to follow its instructions.   In the section documenting supporting evidence, supply the evidence they request as appropriate that demonstrate you clearly meet the Poverty Guideline Requirement.   Apparently some Embassies are satisfied with meeting the 100% requirement (see form I-864P) , some, such as mine (Bangkok) specifically instruct the need to meet 125%.

If you are self employed (section C) and income noted on the last income tax return clearly meet the necessary Poverty Guideline, then that should be all that is necessary.   But documenting liquid assets (Section A and D) may paint a better picture if assets are significant.   Documenting a $1000 checking account is probably not worth the effort.

if you are employed, then the evidence listed in section B should be included.

If income from employment or self-employment falls short or very close to the poverty guideline, liquid assets held in a financial institution (section A) or bonds (section D) can be documented as described in these sections.   Do note that if employment income falls short (for example due to low wages or retirement), assets meeting the difference and 3x or 5x of the poverty guideline will be expected.   (Some embassies will expect 5x, but some will be satisfied with 3x).

For example, if income falls short by $1000, then showing liquid assets of $3000 or $5000 would be necessary.

If the petitioner is not able to meet the financial requirements, some embassies allow a 3rd party sponsor (someone other than the actual petitioner).

Not that this helps anyone still waiting... but thought I'd share...

Somewhere along this journey I read that IF you have a common name (Smith, Jones, Brown, etc... you get the idea), or a name the same as someone that has committed a crime or drawn red flags at some point - that your background checks and security clearance will take longer than the average amount of time. Just to rule out someone that could/would be a threat. No idea how much or how accurate this is? But thought I'd share... just in case.

(I have read so much during my 228 day wait for NOA2, that I can't actually remember where I read this now...)

The long wait truly does stinks...we recently found out after NOA2 (which we thought was THE wait) we still have 2 to 4 months wait for our embassy (Abu Dhabi) to send us packet 3 (which is required to move forward).

I'm praying for each of you still waiting ❤ Hang in there guys!

Let it rain approvals already. I want early December Filers to get before us!!!!!! Let it rain approvals!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

No Updates Today (2 days in a row)

We are looking at the very real possibility that the old website has been or will be phased out of use. I will continue checking for a few more days, but this could be the end of our scan capabilities and usefulness of the 'old' website.

I did try a couple of times. I sent the UAE US Embassy a numerous emails requesting for the packet3 as it worked for others in the past. However, all I received was an automated reply. I tried to proceed with the interview without it thinking that it has been two months already since they’ve received it but they turned me away 😔. It took them 2 1/2 months to send us the packet3.

Quick question @Greenbaum Since my fiance is going through the Abu Dhabi embassy I've been researching and trying to read everything I can.  Based on what I've read on VJ and a couple of Facebook groups...it looks like it's taking 2 to 4 months for the Abu Dhabi embassy to email out packet 3 (they are incredibly SLOW) and they are not accepting interviews before that, and they are actually turning people away if they try to interview before receiving their packet 3 email.

So my question is... when exactly is a good/safe time for my fiance to request his police clearance? He will need 2, one from India and one from Dubai.  But it's required to request the Dubai one first before he can request the Indian Police clearance.  Dubai one takes 24 to 48 hours, Indian one takes 5 to 7 days (best we can tell at least). Dubai police clearance is good for 3 months only and we don't want them to expire before use and waste that money (200 dirhams/$55usd approx for Dubai one).

So we were thinking to wait 2 months from NOA2, which would be about 1.5 months from getting our NVC number (of course depending on if that takes 2 to 4 weeks... give or take). Does this sound reasonable? Or we've missed something?

If anyone else has personal experience or knowledge on this,  feel free to chime in.  Thanks in advance!

Thanks @x_driven_x Yeah, I saw those.  It just looks like most of the comments or links are from last year. There might he one or two new ones. And several aren't filling their timeline... so I've no idea how long they've been waiting or what stage their at (kind of frustrating). Really wish there was a blog or link where they detailed what's happening next. 5 to 6 months wait time from NVC sounds REALLY long to me 😕 Can that actually be right? I'm hoping not... we've already waited almost 8 months just for our NOA2.

Thanks @Greenbaum When I click that link it just takes me back to the state.gov website... which has mostly generic info - nothing detailed and no time lines given.  I guess I was looking for new information.  Maybe what I'm looking for isn't out there yet?

Go up to the top, at the blue ribbon, select "portals" and scroll down the left side till you get to VJ Abu Dhabi Timelines. Select it and out populates a chart of all those who are in the process for a visa at AD. Try and connect with one of them that have been on recently. You should be able to get some help from one of them.  The instructions are out there, I personally haven't found someone who can share a copy with me. If you get one PM and I will give you my personal email so you can send me a scanned copy to use for the next applicate for AD.

@Rocko20 I think @x_driven_x will have to explain most of this.

The scans come from the "old site" where they pull our numbers.  I'll link x_driven_x's previous explanation here:
    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/655791-i-129f-december-2017-filers/?do=findComment&comment=9242348

Also, I believe the approved & RFE/Update numbers are taken from the "Received" column.  I don't believe it's the total for that day, as that number has gradually reduced at each scan. I'll let him clarify that for you.

    Hope this helps some.

All stats are from old site from doing scans. Green is approved, pink rfe, orange cases received.
Statistics show that there is about 30% silent approvals which are not factored into the graph.

Correct. @Rocko20 The caption indicates the status that applications are at. Theoretically when all applications have been either approved or sent an RFE, the "received" row would be zero. If you add up the 3 numbers for any given day, that's how many total applications were received on that day.

Virgin's remaining is another term for those that are in the received line. They haven't yet been updated to approved or RFE (or other).

The silent benchmark is there because there are more and more approvals that are coming through on the new website and not the old website, which is where the scans are run. The current estimate is that 30% of applications are not reflected on the old site. So if you look at 11/14 it's estimated that there are only 54 applications that haven't yet been adjudicated. Unfortunately yours looks to be one of them.

    Hope that helps!

I think the others answered most of it, but just to summarize... the counts are based on "current known status" and get updated each night after I run my scan for the day. The data is taken from the "old" site, (https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do)

So, for 11/14, 30 cases with a a received date of 11/14 have been approved, 45 more are in either an RFE status or have been updated in some way, and then 77 are still in the initial "Case Has Been Received" status, which means they have never been touched since USCIS received the case back on 11/14/2017. This chart does not show rejected / denied cases either, only the above groupings of statuses.

The "Virgin" terminology is just another way to say "Cases that are still in 'Received' status"

The 30% silent reference is because we know the old website is not always updated when the case is actually worked, and from historical charts and analysis we determined that percentage to be about 30%, though we suspect it could be higher these days since the new website has rolled out - but we can't prove anything until USCIS releases 2018 Q2 numbers and then go back and compare how many they say they approved vs how many we "see" approved.

    Hope that helps!
