It is snowing here in Texas. Cold 26 degrees. Whats the weather like where you are?

Yeah, I saw it on TV!! DId you get a lot of ice too? That's worse than snow. It's cold here too - but it's always cold in Michigan in January It's about 15 degrees at night and highs in the mid-20's to low 30's.

We are so not used to the super cold here. People cant drive, schools shut down. Ridiculous. We are suppose to get another spurt of your temps tonight too.

I am impatient, I know and my husband isn't as antsy about it as I am, but I cannot get the consulate to respond to ANY of my emails... It's as if they are ignoring them... When I call they say "just email and we'll respond" but they never have and I've given them days time to answer. In fact when I called last Friday, I spoke with a girl and she checked the email while I was on the phone... I'm just anxious and the waiting is annoying to me... They've had my case for going on a month next week, it hasn't taken anyone else that long to get a date.

Seems like many of us are in the same time frame. I am K-1 though. My Approval notice expires 3/13. Does anyone know what happens if the Embassy doesnt interview by that date?

I have sent packet #3 to my fiancee thru DHL, it got there yesturday but they haven't contacted him to come pick it up yet.

I am hoping he goes to get it today, I want him to drop off the DS230 tomorrow when he goes to get packet #3. I am trying to save him the trip of having to go back to Kingston to drop it off. I guess I'm gonna have to put some fire under his feet to make him put a move on it

Sonshyne, why are these guys in a non urgent pace? I noticed that with my sweetie too. I keep telling him to send me cards or whatever for proof of evidence - relationship & he is taking his sweet time!!! He keeps saying, you being here will be proof enough. They dont understand how detailed we have to be & how much stuff we have to have to even get close to an approval. Gosh!!!!!

well we had to emaill them to find out what to do to turn in the ds230 they emailed us back a bout a week later with a jan 18 date to pick up a duplicate they think we didnt get the ds230 but we did so i hope we can turn it in.

OK, I see. You will just need to drop it off. They do require you to have an appt. to drop off. Someone said before that they are trying to make it harder for people to do these types of Visas, I have to agree. & if that is not the case, then they really need to get better management & organization. I was doing some searching. I noticed that in Haiti it takes about a full year to get a K-1 approved. Thank God we didnt fall in love in Haiti. Id lose my mind.

Rachelle-Thanks so much for posting your interview info. I am K-1 but still feel that your K-3 interview can be of great use.

I received an email from the Embassy over the weekend. They said that we do not have an interview date yet, confirmed my mailing address for fiancee in Jamaica & told me that once an interview is scheduled we can set an appt. date & time for him to pick up a duplicate interview letter. They encouraged me to communicate via email. (That was nice). Oh well, at least I know they are alive. Keep fingers crossed for some news soon. I keep looking at the air tickets & the price keeps rising with every day!!! I wish they could understand the cost.

i would like to be sure that it actually takes about two months to get an interview for a CR-1 visa in jamaica because i gave up a job oppurtunity just yesterday. i need to be sure.

Honestly I'd say since they moved last month nothing is as it used to be. I don't think anyone has any current info.

Ok, of course Im getting close to my interview & now I am worrying about anything & everything. Tell me about the co sponsor & tax info.

I have current paystubs for this year 2006 well over minimum requirements.

I am slightly above level for 2005 on my taxes, although my income was far over , (I had adjustments made for business credits)

2004 I am below level (same thing, had adjustments made for business credits).

If they go by W-2s Im over by at least 10-20k each year.

If they go by tax statements because of the loss & deductions I have a problem in 2004.

SO MY QUESTION IS....DO THEY ONLY WANT LAST YEAR TAX STATEMENTS? (2005) OR DO THEY SCRUTINIZE ALL YEARS?

Yes it is Line 22 as total Income.. not line 37 which is Adjusted Gross Income..

and not Line 7 Gross Income from Schedule c that number is too high..

What they will look at is Line 22 after all business deductions are claimed.

You guys are great. That puts a slight damper on my tax creativity. Now, are they considering all 3 years or the most recent year?

In my case my interview will not be until Feb or Mar this year. Will they look @ my W-2s from 2006 & review over 2005 & 2004 tax statement?

My side job is real estate. Does the embassy know how to read the 1040 & 1040 schedule c. Are they looking at the total income overall? Or losses etc? Just wondering.

Everyone above is 100% correct. Detail your packet on your cover letter. If you have a passport you can add copies of it to reflect your travel to your sweeties country.

Dont leave any room for error. Put in complete copies of both passport, birth Cert & your name change documentation. It is worth the extra copies to not have an RFE & be delayed up to 3 weeks.

Man, how about the fact that they are only avail to answer questions on Mon or Friday??? I wonder regarding Monday being MLK day they, will in turn open ques. on Tues?

I have a question too.... I plan to fill out the DS230 and the rest of the forms and send them. Can I mail the DS230 directly to the Embassy or does it have to be hand delivered? Also does his signature have to be hand written or can it be typed in?

I am also wondering about the mailing issue, I am going to send it through DHL. Being that they don't have housing addresses there, does that mean that we can't send the package to the local post office where they receive the mail?

I know these questions were already addressed.... But I am still not quite clear on how to go about it.

Wherever you mail the DS 230 from he will need to sign it (an original needs to be mailed). It does not have to be hand delivered. Just write really big on the envelope your case #. Signature must me signed (not typed) original signature. Track it if you can for your reference. He can drop it off if you dont want to mail it---he'll probably need an appt to do so.

He will get the mail. Just make sure you put his contact telephone # on the DHL envelope. They will call him when it arrives & he will likely have to go get it at a nearby dhl location. Trust me Ive done it many times.

OK guys, I know things have changed so much lately at the Embassy, but I have to ask. How fast after you turned in your DS 230 did it take for them to get you an interview date?

Hello all. Its a pretty day here.

Sorry I bailed out again. Too many happy people here for my situation. I spent the majority of the 8 months in Jamaica with my wife. I'm about ready to try for the third time, if I can ever get past the madness in Kingston. My wife's 3 years is up. This time it should only be fresh photos and another interview, if we can ever get ahold of someone to reopen the case.

I have some interesting information for those who have high phone bills calling Jamaica. Check out http://www.flowjamaica.com I have spoken with their office and they will have a VOIP phone available that we can get for use in the US, that would have a Jamaica phone number. This would also include free calls to/from MiPhone Cell phones. Of course we are still looking at $0.15 cents a minute to a digicel phone, but landline phones cost will be equivilent to normal land line to land line costs in JA.

I was told this would become available next month.

It's good to be back in the US again, hopefully other than the interview it will be close to permanant.

I GOT THIS NEWS FROM MY FRIEND IN KINGSTON I DONT KNOW HOW ACCURATE IT IS SINCE SHE IS NOT A COMPUTER UNDERSTANDING PERSON. Fiancee drove to pick up Police Record today. Other than that Im at a stand still. Whats new with you?
