Yes you can! My husband got his passport in one day las December for our trip to our home country for Christmas. You just call and make an appointment. Must bring proof of travel like an itinerary and that is it.

Updated my status. Passed my interview today. Officer was really nice. Asked me where I was from, and recommended me for approval. I applied under the 3 year rule, but when I applied I was already here for 5 years, so she told me I would be eligible under the 5 year rule . So I didn’t have to submit all the paperwork being under the 3 year rule. She checked my drivers license, green card. asked me on the leader of the executive branch, the name of the president, etc. got all 6 questions right . Wrote a sentence in English and had to read one . was in all a great experience. Now just waiting for the oath letter, and date. End is in sight, and the oath will be in Nashville, and not in Memphis so I wont have to drive 4 hours. To to all my fellow visajourners. hang in there. I understand...I applied in May 2017 and it's been a long road since my initial K1 visa back in Feb 2013.
 
I got my oath letter by the way, happy it came so that I can plan my travel around it! 

I got my interview after 10 months, So if you are within a year or just over a year, be optimistic. I always think positive and that helps a lot.
Try to be busy and you will get soon interview. That's what I can say. I was very sad and depressed but believe me that did not help me. I am hopeful that you guys will get the interview soon. I saw that ppl are getting interview more now in Miami area. 
 

The IO only asked me for the last 3 years.
she said 3 years is good enough.
