  1. Sorry if this is a repeat... You can check into purchasing a system that picks up free-to-air channels, including a slew of Arabic ones. I don't know how many, if any, are Egyptian channels, though. Legal, and no monthly charge or contract; just the price of the system. Standard disclaimer applies; I haven't used this and I have no affiliation with the company, but this is what I'm researching now for when my fiancé arrives. The stationary FTA system should do it just for the Arabic channels; if you want the free-to-air American ones and some others as well, you'll need the motorized system. This should give you the list of Arabic channels:

  2. Zena, I hope the ar is very short. I see u filed CR-1/IR-1. It is a shame that it takes longer for them to get approved. Best wishes.

Apparently the petition is being returned to USCIS; not a security check. It's the "bad" 221(g) and it makes no sense. Hope the senator's office can do something to turn things around before the petition leaves Casa. Chi, I know you'll have good advice for them.

    Bless you both (F)

  3. It is not good news I am afraid, he got the 221g petition is being returned to the US, I have already contacted the sentators office, and I am going to try to go back to the embassy to try and talk to someone. He had the blond haired lady, he said she denied eveyone except one old lady for a visitor visa. She interviewed him for 30 minutes hard questioning but he answered them all and showed her the proof, plus she knew I was there. We really don't know he was not approved.

    I will post more later.

    Zena and Rachid

Oh Zena, I can't believe this. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I know you're all over it, and I pray things turn around quickly.

  4. Zena will have better things to do now than to read a VJ forum...like jumping over the clouds to her man...but I'm starting to pace already, so I can't begin to imagine what it's like for them. 42 HOURS TO GO! Best wishes to you both. Bring that hubby home, lady! (F)(F)(F)

Good luck Zena! And love the henna pic cateyes! I'm so sad that the henna on my nails from the engagement party is growing out! Just a little bit on the thumbs! :( I still have the henna on my toe nails though! (for some reason, I use "henna growth" as a measure of time. If I still have the henna when he's here, that means it wasn't too long of a wait!) :luv:

Thank you Liz! Hoping you won't need this henna measure much longer

    Ohhh Jamal (L)(L)(L)(F)(F)(F):blush::luv:

  5. Hicham doesn't have a middle name

every man has a middle name. it's "yes dear"

well, besides that one he doesn't have one hahaha

I told him his middle name is "accident" cause he is always tripping or dropping something!

hey actually that could be my middle name, as i'm a diaphram baby :P

Guess Nessa's glad that diaphragm was a dud :D

  6. That's wonderful news. Congratulations!!!!

How incredibly wonderful for you both! Congratulations and best wishes! (F)

  7. Ok so I called him again and interrogated him :P It appears to me that we were approved.

So apparently he was #2 in line. He interviewed first with an arabic guy who he said was a jerk. The guy asked him:

    What is her name?

    Where does she live?

    How did you meet?

When did she come to Jordan?

    When did she leave Jordan?

    When did you get engaged?

    Where do you live?

    Where do you work?

He was then asked to sit down after verifying some information and to wait. He was then called to another window by an American lady who he said was extremely nice and very helpful.

She told him that she assumed his english was good and she would conduct the interview in english but if he had any trouble understanding anything that she also spoke fluent arabic and would be happy to explain more to him.

The first thing she asked was:

What do you plan to do with JP :P when you get to America? He said I plan on marrying her and starting our family.

    How did you meet?

    When did she come?

Why didnt you get married? 1 year is a long time for an engagement. He responded and said that we tried but the church refused. She then said ohh yes I read that in your letters of intent and apologized for asking the question again.

She then asked to see pictures and asked who everyone was in the photos. She asked about the priest, who he was and how we knew him.

She asked him if he had any immediate family in the USA

She asked him what he planned to do for our wedding in the USA, he said we were getting married in a church and then a reception after.

She then said who are going to be the guests? He said mostly from her side, her parents, family friends.

She said are your parents going to be there? He laughed and said if you give them a visa, she laughed and made some notes in the computer.

After that she said ok Mr. JP :P you paperwork really looks very good and you are qualified to recieve a visa. We will need to do some additional processing and this paper says 4-6 weeks but it never takes that long and in cases like yours its about 2 weeks. (thats when she crossed it out) She also reminded him that he should count the holidays because Eid is right around the corner. She said I'm not going to take your passport right now incase you need to use it. Then she stapled a card with a number on it in his passport and said to send it to her attention via aramex when he gets the call from the embassy.

Then he asked so Did I get the visa? She said everything is fine and you will have the visa after we finish processing. Congratuluations Sir, I hope you and your fiance have a wonderlife and beautiful children together.

Sounds to me like he got it.....

He was out of there by 10am, and in hindsight he said if he ever interviewed again he would want it to be with the same lady because she was so nice, helpful, and patient.

So can I congratulate you two NOW??? Please??? :D This does sound really good. I know you won't relax until he has it in his hand, but now that you've had a chance to talk with him more, I don't see anything negative here. Best wishes to you both, and I'll dance when he has it in hand! (F)

  8. I knew not to drink the water in Morocco. I tasted it anyway. It was spring water, and it tasted so good! It was blazing hot in July, and I just got careless, plus I usually don't have tummy trouble so I let myself think I was immune. Nothing for five days, and then it got me. No western toilet either. Next time, I'm packing water purification tablets just in case (the site Charles posted has them; so do backpacking stores). I will drink bottled water with a sealed cap or boiled (15 minutes) tap water. Also, taking regular doses of Pepto before going and while traveling can prevent a lot of the usual stuff (I neglected that last time). My fiance's family brought me Imodium, but I'm packing my own next time. I don't think I had food poisoning; I think it was just unfamiliar microbes. I'm definitely being more careful next time. But the food there is amazing, so I'll use common sense, but I will also EAT! :D

  9. As far as requiring a SSN to get married, I am under the impression that you can get it a few weeks after arriving. At least according to the flowchart it says that: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...amp;page=k1flow

And if all goes well, it should take a few weeks to get the number. So maybe you won't be able to be married immediately, it seems like it's still doable in the 3 month time frame?

Thank you. This helps. We'll have a Plan B just in case the card doesn't come through in time.

  10. I am always wondering why for the most part it seems like the women here who marry men from the ME/NA are much older than the men. Did anyone else notice this?

This is just a question, I guess some people prefer younger men which is just a question of preference. I hope no one takes this the wrong way.

I am 16 years older than my fiance. This is the first time I have ever been involved with anyone younger than myself. If anything, his age made me cautious, and it was the same for him, although he has uncles with older wives in strong marriages. If we had met first in person, we may not have hooked up. But the friendship was established first with almost no visuals; he wouldn't even let me turn on my cam until he had one of his own, so we talked for weeks without eye contact. Now we are best friends. The communication and trust between us are very strong. If it were not, we wouldn't make it. Of course, I find him very attractive on the outside also, but that's not where it started. He reminds me of my dad in some ways, actually. Have fun with that one :)

There is no question that a lack of self-confidence, especially in the older partner, can cause big problems. I have seen that first-hand. A clingy, insecure older partner seems so much older, and the younger partner will eventually feel trapped; at least that is my experience. I'm not going try to dress or act his age; I do whatever is natural for me. We share so many common interests and values that I truly don't feel an age difference, and he tells me it is the same for him. I believe him.

It may be a matter of preference in some cases. In our case, we didn't look for it or want it, but this is just where we happened to find our other half. We know it will raise eyebrows, but it's right for us.

By the way, greetings, ME/NA folks. I'm an old guest, new member. We just filed the I-129F through TSC. My fiance is in Morocco. I think the timeline is linked but I'll make sure. Best wishes to all.
