  1. No I should have though, I didn't realize that would have been a good idea, so I was done, but held on to it... I can send it to Vancouver ASAP though.. I'm going to ask when I call tomorrow!

It might end up being quicker for you this way anyway. From my understanding(someone correct me if I'm wrong), you can fax the checklist/DS-230 to Vancouver, so when you call you could ask if you can do this.

Yeah, Vancouver (when I called today at time and number you advised) they said I could fax it in to them... Is this the fax number I want to use "604-685-7175"

    Thanks!

Yup, that's the one! :) I have a copy of the OF-167 form if you need it, it's the one form that Vancouver has that Montreal doesn't. They emailed it to me today, and I've posted it in the Foreign Embassy section of the board, here.

    PERFECT! Thanks AGAIN!

  2. I only included Major trips (all where I visited my Fiancee) Than I explained that due to my closeness to the border I was never required to obtain a visa. And made many short day and weekend trips which I have no record of.

I was told to do so by others who did

  4. You're very welcome :) I remember how anxious I felt when I was in that in between zone, not knowing if my case was there or lost or what. I don't know if they'll be able to schedule you an appointment until they get the hard copy of your case, but you can call and request a date before that and they can make a note of it. They mailed me my appointment letter a week after my transfer request. Did you send Montreal packet 3 back? If so, you'll probably be scheduled an appointment right away too.

  5. I did this and didn't get a response to any of my emails(I emailed every day starting a couple days after the transfer) until 8 days after I requested the transfer, but on the plus side the email had my interview date. However, I recommend calling them(be prepared to wait though); the nice guy I talked to a couple times told me that Montreal transfers the case electronically and also by mail, so they will have you in their computer system pretty much right away. The phone number is (604)685-4311 x235 and you can call between 2-4pm Vancouver time. Good luck!

THANK YOU!!!! You have NO IDEA how much that helps, I've been trying to get that information .. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! You have given me hope!!! :D

  6. So I WAS in Montreal, but reaquested a transfer to Vancouver... On Monday.. Tuesday I e-mailed Vancouver to see if they received my case... I havn't received a response yet... I hope soon? I have my package done, accept anything that's different between Montreal and Vancouver.. and really really really really really really really want an interview the last week of November, first 2 of December, although end of December would work... We'll SEE!!!!

  7. Can someone give me information on Affidavit of Support forms, etc for Montreal. Do they use the I-134. Where can I get instructions for it? How do I know who's qualified to fill it out for me? Does it have to be the petitioner, what if he didn't make enough.

Jimmy, the affidavit will arrive when you get package 3 from Montreal I think. I can't remember because my fiance has mine in Quebec right now. But as for who can fill it out, if the petitioner does not make enough then he/she can get a co-supporter to help. There is a lot of information that is required to support someone but none of it is difficult to get. A person supporting you does not need to make alot of money, they just need to make the required minimum but I don't remember what that is. I know someone who brought her fiance here from Russia and she did not make enough so her mother filled out the affidavit. If I can find the website, I will send it to you but there is aplce that tells you how much a person has to make and what is required in order to sponsor someone. Does anyone else here know how he can find this out?

Thanks, I posted this question twice in two seperate forums and received several responses thanks!

  8. A lot of questions!
    • First the instructions are included with the form. I-134
    • To determine if you make enough look at the poverty Guidelines I-864P I-864P
    • Yes The petitioner have to file it. If petitioner dosnt make the 125% poverty level in I-864P then get a co sponsor like a parent.
    • Yes they use I-134 for K-1 visa.

What does the co-sponser fill out?

    Thank you.

  10. I'm currently still working on getting my K-1, but once I do receive my green card and am in the US, I have a question about how this could work.

My husband may have a job offer with a US based company to go work for them on a deal in Kuwait. He's move there for 18 months.

How would I go about being able to go with him? Can I do that when living in the US on a Green Card??

    Thanks!!

  11. So, after seeing some successful cases here, I just emailed the Vancouver consulate to see if transferring of our case would be possible. I noted that Craig will be staying with family in Vancouver during the time prior and surrounding his interview (which would be true if we got transferred) and would like to use their address. We'll see if it works. Hopefully I can get a response from Vancouver and Montreal soon and catch the case at the NVC before they send it on. Heck, even if it gets forwarded to Montreal and then gets sent to Vancouver it'll still be a thousand times easier.

Aside from the faster processing, I'd be so excited to get to go up and visit with Craig's family and see Vancouver!

    Wish me luck!

This actually seems like a question that would be better to call the NVC and ask, or e-mail them. Since they would be the ones actually doing the transfer for you. :)

    Just a thought.

  12. What Does the experation date on an I-129F really mean?

It means that you need to have the visa issued prior to that date. If in the event that the consulate is slow and cannot issue such visa in that time frame an extention of time of 4mos can be approved. It is not an automatic item and if you find yourself approaching that date then you should request such an extension. A sample request form is located in the sample forms section

Thank you, 2 rather different answers!
