  1. We sent in the paperwork and money order on Feb 16th, yesterday March 24 was his biometrics (no interview)...and was told he will have his 10 yr GC in a week or 2.

I don't think that's correct..You have to wait for the formal notice or email alert that your case is approve and that there's card production on the way. That's the only time they'll issue you the 10yr card..Please update your timeline..Thanks and Goodluck!

  3. I just had my interview today and I was given the form with "Congratulations! Your application has been recommended for aproval."

I feel enormously relieved and happy! Thank you to all great people on this board for the advice, help and good wishing! I will post my experience later tonight or tomorrow! :dancing::jest:

Congratulations!!! you have to wait for a month or so for your oath letter to arrive and a couple of weeks again for your ceremony..but at least you're almost done!:dance::dance:

  4. i am now on the process for my citizenship, and as soon as it is done i will apply to petition my mother.....my BIG problem is...on my birth certificate her name is misspelled....the last letter of her name SHOULD BE E, but is shows A....just a typo error...when i submit my I-130, do i need to submit other proofs? all her docs like her marriage cert, her birth cert, her ID, my baptismal cert, all these docs has the correct spelling of her name....pls advise me what to do! thanks in advance.

Send in an affidavit that shows this & that person are the same and belong to one person, your mom.

  5. I have filed for naturalization on the basis of 5 years permanent residence. I am divorced and did not remarry after that. My original divorce certificate was lost in a car theft while moving along with many other documents. I got a certified copy of the divorce decree from the county clerk's office of the state where I got divorced. I sent a copy of this decree with the N-400 form.

Only the front page of this divorce decree is certified and notarized. My question is if this is sufficient or do I have to contact the county clerk's office of that state again and request them to send one with all pages notarized? There are 14 pages in total.

I can also apply to get a duplicate of the divorce certificate but it's costing about $50 and will come in 3-4 weeks time which will cut close to my interview date and also I am short on money and don't really want to waste 50 bucks if I can be fine without it.

I sent my decree when i filed but it was returned during my interview as it was not needed when filing for 5 yrs according to the AO. So when you go to your interview, just bring that copy you have. You're filing for 5yrs residency so i don't see any problem. If you wanna petition for name change, the AO will provide you a form that you will sign and this will be put onto your certificate. That petition for name change will be stapled on your certificate.

  6. yes u r right i think i should wait for some time. but plsss pray for me. i'll keep u informed about my case. thanks for ur sincere advice.

did you have a written contract about how he will handle your case? Or if he will be there if you ever gets called for an interview? Some lawyers charge lesser than that and do their homework..The lawyer would have received a copy of your RFE and informed you, did he? I suggest you inform him that you sent the RFE to prevent any confusions later. And yeah, case online don't change everytime and it's pretty normal to see that message there. And you probably hired a bad lawyer but you know be careful next time. best of luck!

  7. i took my oath on Friday. everything went well. thank you everybody for your guidance and support. good luck to everybody still waiting.

    congratulations vega!!! :dance::thumbs::dance::thumbs:

    Congrats vega!

Mooninlove, yes, they made us sign along the picture and also in the signature place on the certificate.

I updated my SSN and made an appointment at the post office to apply for the passport end of next week.

It feels great to be done!

DEFINITELY!! I'll sign the right corner of my photo and the signature line on the certificate. Gee, i am practicing my full signature, i'm soo used to my "JDOE" instead of JANEDOE" signature! Did you have to fill-up the SSA form, same form we use to apply one? I wonder how the other Sep filers are doing..Have not heard much of them lately.. B)

  8. hello everyone,,,

i am separated i lived my own apartment with my daughter. the reason i left in the house because my husband he used his hand on me theirs police report says abuse fv. he filed devorce against me, He keep saying me lets work out the marrieds for the sake of the baby. then i'll seen him with other woman. i have pending devorce now? he is U.S army

    my question

    1. what are the requirements if ever i filed for abuse? and what are the waiver they need?

    2. The police report says abuse fv are considered battered in my case?

    3. Do i qualify for this case battered and what are the requirements for this?

    4. Does he need to signature the 1-751 form in order i can submit to USCIS.

    5. if ever he sign the form what the requirements are they same as on the form

please give answer and i need guide how i sign this form thanks

    jarl

When you file for the waiver, it's still the same I-751 form but on part 2, you have to check the e as basis of your petition. You have to provide them all docs pertaining to your abuse waiver. But before you can apply for the waiver (form I-751), you must file it with your divorce decree & other evidences. You can't file until you have the final decree. He does not need to sign if you're filing on your own.. I believe he only sign if you're filing jointly but on your case, his signature is not needed. So sorry to read about the abuse. Best of luck to you.

  9. congratulations to both of you!, especially mooninlove. You've come a loooooooooooong way on your journey!.

Thanks to all fo you here! It was really a looooong journey for me. Glad I'm done for now. I just have a question to all of you, did you sign the right side of your photo on your certificate or just the area where you sign your full name?? I'm gonna make a copy of it so i wanna know before I do it.. Thanks!

  10. I was not called for an interview when I filed my waiver. And the fact I was late filing it due to my lengthy divorce proceedings, it did not post any problem but it was brought up when I had my Naturalization interview. When I mailed back the RFE, I got the Card Production notice after 2 weeks. So interviews I believe would be case to case basis or merely quality control or perhaps if one's case raises a red flag that they want to check you for an interview. If called for an interview, it's not something to be afraid of. Just be yourself and present your self well. Goodluck!

  11. Hi guys i was wondering how long it take to hear an answer after you send the RFE? is the waivers sometime get approved without interview ? cuz i had sent a lot of evidence what we had shared together!! i'm just curious thanks.

Received my Card Production email 2 weeks after sending the RFE. And yeah waivers/joint filers rarely gets interview notice. I have not seen anything lately..Best of luck!

  12. Hi all,

After all, I decided to send I751 waiver after the denial of new I485 under my current husband and my conditional resident status got extended for 1 year.

So, now I am no longer out of status ;-)

If you are in the similar situation (got divorced and remarried before GC is expired), I strongly recommend that you will file for I751waiver, not new I475 & I130 under new spouse. If you file new I485 & I130, you will become out of status for a long time and not sure how long. If you file I751 waiver, you can secure your status until they make a final decision, so you can work and travel.

I will update my info if something new comes up.

    makidesuu

That's good to know your pr is extended for another year and decided to pursue the I-751 waiver..i did the same thing before (waiver), now happily to say i'm a USC as of yesterday. Best of luck to you and let us know how it went..

  13. I had my oath ceremony today, on the oath letter it was for 10 am but they didn't get us in the court room till 10:30 am & the judge showed up at 11 am and it was 35 mins total. There was 49 of us from 30 different countries. But am sooooooooooo happy it's all done. Thanks to everyone on visa journey for all the help.

    Congratulations! Now you're all done!

I remembered that you posted before about your nephew shredded you LRP GC, did they give you any trouble?

Please share detail experience later when you have time. Thanks!

About my GC, they took the shredded pieces and told me to make sure my nephew doesn't get his hands on my citizenship certificate.

Good thing that was sorted out! Congratulations bimmerboy!

  14. I'm done too!

Now what is better to do next - order the passport or social security update first?

Congratulations!!:dance: we're done!! i have not signed my certificate :D .i looked at my hubby's Nat Cert and he signed on his photo, are we suppose to do that too?? well, i'm gonna update the SSA nxt week then apply for my passport.. right now, i'm chillin'...

  15. Actually, there were 3 ceremonies for the day, so we were right behind you! My wife had her Oath Ceremony at 1:00 pm (2ish really) in Montebello. In case any of you are wondering, the Oath ceremony is all about lines. From the time we arrived, we could already see the zoo of cars, and we immediately got into a line of about 1000 people-

I walked with her all the way up the hill to be told once I got almost to the doorway that visitors had to go to the other side of the building. So, I walk to the other side of the building and get in the back of an equally long line and waited again. They let all of the new citizens in first. So then we stand in the autotorium-

If you look really close in the middle of the picture you can see my wife looking at the camera in the white jacket.

Then a couple speakers, national anthem, long oath pledge, "proud to be an american" video, dozens of loudly screaming babies and bada-bing, bada-bang-citizen!

Then all of the visitors have to go outside - BUT NOT IN THE STREET! and wait for the long line of new citizens to exit.

We went and applied for the Passport which again is a long line. This was cool, because one line is checks and the other is cash, but they didn't tell me the line I was in was cash until I got almost to the front, at which point I was sent to the back of the checks line. :crying:

But-finally- it is done!

You were there too??! wow congratulations to your wife! It was posted in the building that there was 8 & 10:30. Didn't know there was 1 more ceremony. Btw, yeah the line going to the court was LOOONG starting from the entrance. And the parking fee was $10 yet it's hard to find one. We were instructed that guests will be separated from the citizens so when we get there we already know what's going on.. Did not apply for a passport yet..

Well Dalegg Congratulations!! woohoo we're done!:dance:

  16. Ok i really dont know how this work... Came here as a fiancee back in 12/02 got married & even had a child together. been a PR since of April 2004 & will expire on 8/16. But i filed for divorce last 5/2007 & got a final decree last 2/08.The thing is my ex got all the copy of my paper works & told me he dont have it anymore. All i got is my 10 yr PRC

    My question is:

when & would i be able to apply for citizenship even though i dont have any copy of my papers?

as haole said 90 days before the 5yrs anniv of your pr card. you only submit the n400 form, fee and passport photos. no need of the decree. did that but was returned to me on my interview..

  17. So I went to my Oath ceremony this morning @ 10:30 in Montebello Ca. As usual traffic along LA but we get there around 9:45. There's a long line already, about a mile. There were 2 ceremonies that day, one is for 8am. They ushered the guests to a different area as we went up to the building & proceeded to a room where they checked the notice, labeled ok with table # on it where we will get our certificate later. He took my PR card and handed me my notice.. We went to the function room, gave us a flag with "made in USA" printed on it and I seated couple of rows from the stage. It was 11am and there were 908 would be citizens. All the guests were seated at the back. There were no mentions of our former nationalities..

When everyone was seated, the guy on the stage informed us what to do from SSA-passport and we filled-up the voter's registration form except the signature line. Then the judge asked all of the would be citizens to raise our right hand and recite the Naturalization Oath. After which he congratulated us as a newly minted US Citizens! We raised all our tiny flags while they're taking video of us all..

We seated again and watched a video. Then after that we recited our Pledge of Allegiance and we're done! The ceremony is over by 11:30. Then we fall in line again to get our certificates. I went to the table#10 that was written on my oath notice. I gave it to the lady, check it one more time then gave me my precious certificate. She told me that when I get home that I sign it and make a copy before I apply for my passport. Stapled at the back of my Naturalization Certificate is my Petition for Name Change which I signed during my interview.

Whew! I'm over with USCIS for now. My 5 yrs. old daughter even encouraged me to recite the Pledge of Allegiance the night before the ceremony which I obliged to her excitement! Thanks to all of you VJers..:dance::dance:

  18. Hi Alawi...

We are both in similar situation (divorce / waiver)... I had an RFE like you, but my case status was never updated... Still says "received and pending, etc"... Almost 4 weeks since USCIS received the RFE info that I mailed to them and still no update.

I know how it feels to be waiting..I waited couple of weeks too after sending the RFE back. Lots of prayers on my part but I waited patiently.. I hope you get your approval email soon! Best of luck! Btw, tomorrow is my Oath already so i'm super excited right now!
