Do you know how many typhoons they have a year?? Around 20. That's 2-3 a month during typhoon season. Are you ready to pay for 20 roof a year?
Hahahaha my God she is good
Have her show you his head with the stitches when you are in a video call without telling her first. He will be out, trust me.
Pretty easy to get in the Philippines. Any Filipino on FB probably sees several pics like that in a week.

Haha they know how to play foreigners. She will make you feel guilty for even accusing her. She will say don't worry I don't need you to send me any money. A week later she will have another emergency.

I have been in a relationship with my wife for 10 years. To this day she has never asked me for money. She was working 3 jobs when we met. For the amount she was making I said quit 2 jobs so you will have time to see me and I will send you xxx every 2 weeks. That was my choice and it was less than the cost of a coffee drink per day in America. I was willing to do that so we had more time to get to know each other. I told her there will be no emergencies. She needed to put 1k pesos in the bank each time I sent money so she would have a savings if she had an emergency.

I already knew the scammer game and they are in constant crisis. Always one emergency after another. Always emergencies like you described. I wanted to make sure that my (now wife) was not one of those. Thank God she wasn't. There are lots of scammers there but there are diamonds also. You need to be careful where you look and know the scammer game so you do not fall prey.

100% being scammed. You need to understand you are dealing with a professional. She does this for a living and will outsmart you at every turn. How do I know? I know people that do this. She will suck as much money from you that she can and when you stop sending she will not care because those pictures that she is sending you is also sending others or she is finding more guys to take your place. Knowing their script I can tell you how she will respond to any question that you ask. Trust me, you are in the little league playing with a pro. RO_AH got a reaction from Skyman in 9(a) Visa
As some of you know I filed for an EED and 9(a) visa about 2 months ago. Well since the EED was no longer needed I reached out to the Consulate again about my visa. They sent me the requirements for the visa which were pretty much the same as the EED so I sent them again via email. They asked me to get the visa application notarized and email them a copy. Next they sent me an email to send all of it to the consulate along with my passport and prepaid return envelope and a money order for $30.00. They will notify me when they send me my visa.

    Here were the requirements:
Copy of passport of applicant (valid at least 6 months from return date)
Travel Itinerary (duration of stay in the Philippines)
Proof of Financial Capacity (photocopy of latest bank statement and an employment certificate from the employer indicating position and salary, or affidavit of support), for Tourist Visa (for pleasure only).
Additional documents for Foreign spouse and parent of Filipino nationals:
          -   Proof of Marriage - PSA-issued Marriage Contract, for Philippines-issued documents or apostilled/authenticated, for documents issued by foreign governments
          -   Proof of the citizenship of the Filipino spouse (copy of Philippine passport or dual citizenship documents)
          -   Proof that the Filipino spouse is living and currently in the Philippines (e.g. barangay certificate)
          -   Proof of parentage to the Filipino child - PSA-issued Birth Certificate, for Philippines-issued documents, or apostilled /authenticated, for documents issued by foreign governments
          -   Proof of the citizenship of the Filipino child (copy of Philippine passport or dual citizenship documents)
          -   Proof that the Filipino child is living and currently in the Philippines (e.g. barangay certificate)

They called me today. They said the visa will be good for 90 days and recommended that I wait to get it since I am not leaving until October. According to her I must leave the Philippines before it expires. I said, no I would like to have it now. I will be leaving the Philippines before November so I would rather have it now. They sent it out and I should receive it tomorrow..

She went to the market and got the fixins for chicken soup... Loaded up on the standard medications for a cold and locked herself in for three days of Netflix on a Shared Screen to Binge watch Star Trek... That was last month... She is better now... We are just waiting... and waiting..

It is a tough situation but almost certainly the best thing she can do is self quarantine at home, monitor her condition and let it run it's course. The kids got better, she will almost certainly follow the same course.  Getting tested and having a positive swab result would not provide any new information or suggest a better course of action than what you already know.  Getting caught up in the whole COVID bureaucracy can end up being worse than the disease.

Please understand that this sounds at face value extremely unusual if not unbelievable. I am not saying you are being scammed, and most times when you warn someone that they are or may be getting scammed they go straight into defense mode. I just ask that you think about it. Do some digging, and most of all do not except excuses if you ask. Also do not be made to feel guilty for asking hard questions.

To be blunt, the context would be a story to get money out of someone who is not there to witness what is happening and would help pay to get you out of what they believed was a bad situation

Yes correct.  However that would only be if you forced your way out.  I mentioned before when my fiance had her passport stolen and we needed a new one, she had to go up to Tuguegarao as that was the only place we could get an immediate appointment.  Upon arrival at the van terminal, she had a police escort to DFA who couldnt help her that date, so she then received a police escort to the hotel she had to quarantine at.  Police sat in the lobby making sure everyone was "compliant."

Even when I arrived at the end of November last year, at my quarantine hotel, the Coast Guard sat in the lobby making sure everyone followed the rules.  However that was still when you would do a PCR test on arrival at the airport and within 24 hours you could leave quarantine with a negative test.  I stayed a few more days at that hotel and had to make it known that I was disease free, otherwise I would not have been allowed to walk out.

But everyone was extremely helpful and polite during my process as well as hers.  She waited outside of DFA for several hours and the police officer who escorted her went and bought Jollibee as she had not ate.

My wife is begging me to take her to a NASCAR race.  I have absolutely no idea where that is coming from.  Secondly, I'm a Gonzaga grad, and I have to keep a 10 foot buffer around her when we watch their basketball games on TV.  The jumping and flailing around is a sight to behold.  Dangerous but amusing in a scary way.

I concur with both of these statements.  Its best to try and avoid voluntarily getting tested for Covid.  Essentially you are "arrested."  The only time I have seen a reprieve from this is if the quarantine facilities are full, occasionally they will be sent home, but monitored daily, sometimes multiple times a day.

Exactly.  She keeps looking at the leaves very closely   Asking all kinds of questions on trees, flowers, plants, etc.  I had to tell her Im not a botanist.  We do have an elaborate garden though.  First time in my life I had one of those.

Probably your wife stops in the middle of the road as she knows people have the right away here, unlike in the Philippines where you constantly have to dodge traffic.

The best one for me is my wife absolutely loves baseball.  I never knew this living in the Philippines as there hardly is any baseball.  She has favorite teams (basically any of the good ones) and will yell at the TV when someone makes a mistake, etc.  Basically a fanatic.  Ive had to tell her to chill out.  They play 162 games a season, they ARE going to lose some.  Its not life or death.  If they lose one its not the end of the season.

I also agree that this is excellent advice. 2 days is an extremely short period of time to expect to be paid back the money, whether by PH or US standards. I have never heard of someone in the PH being put in jail after a 2 day delay in payment. Usually the two parties try to work it out between themselves, then escalate the dispute to the barangay, and ONLY if they do not get a resolution at the barangay level do they seek legal advice from an attorney and file a case.

Depending on where the girlfriend is, just the initial attorney fees could be more expensive than the cost of the funeral.

I also mean no disrespect, but you should be asking the hard questions as mentioned by the other posters.

Excellent advice given. Doubtful she would be held for this initially. Things like this are usually handled at the barangay level. I would be wary of a sick caribou in your future. As I recall you have been to the Philippines before and went through the process. You should know the score.
