My interview at Boston for AOS from a K1 Visa went well.

We had the interview in the morning.
We were very nervous, so we decided to arrive very early but they didnt let us to check in until 30 minutes before the fixed time for the interview.
We went to the cafeteria upstairs and had a nice cup of tea ...

The USCIS  officer asked the petitioner (my husband) to come first for the interview and he asked my husband to handle all the new documents to him.
I waited ten minutes in the waiting room.
I noticed the officers were asking the beneficiary to come before the beneficiary to the office.
Then my husband left the office. Then the officer asked me to come in. I was in his office no more than 10 minutes.
He asked 3 questions to us: 1. where did we meet? (I met my husband in Boston). 2. how did you decided to married? (he proposed in Boston and I told our story), 3. Who made coffee this morning? (He did). I noticed he was checking my answers with my husband´s answers.
Then, he proceeded to ask me all the I485 questions. I made a joke to him.. He asked me: have you kidnapped someone? I said Yes: my husband´s heart. He laugh.
After that, I was very comfortable. He told me on the spot: I will aprove your Green card, and he explained to me about the two conditonal-year and  that I must apply 90 days before the two years deadline for removing conditions.

I was so happy that after I left the officer office I told my husband WE GOT THE GREEN CARD and we kissed and had a hug ....in front of everybody
After that we went to the restaurant where we had our first date, engagement dinner and marriage celebration.

    Oh WAIT....
He did ask my husband whether he had a new document to handle, we did provided our joint financial documents etc.

    And GUESS what!
He never asked me about the vaccination update.

I just realize that after leaving the building, so I had to return and handle the sealed envelopwith the vaccination information to him and he said never mind.

    And GUESS what!
He did ask about current job situation of the petitionary and we explained the situation and he didnt put a lot of weight on that.

While we were walking to our favourite restaurant my husband almost cried.

    What a journey!

I checked the USCIS website after leaving the interview, and it said: Card Being Produced.

    Relieved! 💞

We both have learnt a lot from this journey indeed.

Still scared and I wont belive it until I have the green card in Hand.

Let's take a step back and relax.  Inhale, exhale.  What we have ALL learned is the immigration process is far from clear.  At times it can seem so frustrating and unfair.

Calendula:  If it is ANY consolation at all, we feel your pain.  Really.  We're all trying to reach the same finish line.  If you want to vent, vent.  Some may not want to hear it.  You're welcome here.  I hope things happen very quickly for you going forward.  Regrettably I cannot wave some magic wand and solve your situation.  I sure wish I could.  Good luck and stay strong.  Eventually you will get there.

Yu Q:  I have to agree with Calendula on one particular item.  This is a forum and people are going to vent.  Not everyone is going to write happy thoughts.  There are many different personalities on this forum.  Sometimes people are just going to spew.  So let them spew.  If you find certain contributors are not to your liking, you can choose not to read their stuff anymore.  When things take a turn for the better, I suspect Calendula will be doing cartwheels all over this forum.

All:  Hang in there and happy new year.

Calendula:  I heard you. I dont know much about your personal situation but please take a break. Sometimes we need a break from a website, from the visa process, from USCIS.... it will help you to feel fine when you receive your EAD and proceed with the interviews to get a job. I send a hug.

I was not throwing shade at Cata - I also have the right to be frustrated like everyone else here who's in a stupid situation because of some incompetent mistake.
I'm still happy for everyone here whose case has been approved and I'm celebrating your achievements. I don't think that's being toxic.
I thought this was a place where we could also share the reality of our frustrations, but apparently support stops at some point. Message received.

Just had my interview this morning and here’s my experience:

we had a 10:00 appointment and was called into her office at 10:10. The IO was very professional and kind and that helped my nervousness. In the beginning she said if there’s anything I’d like to show that’s not in the original file, so I gave her bunch of photos (around 70 and she took them all) and life insurance stuff.

    As for questions:
She first asked my husband questions: what’s your spouse name, DOB, parents name, have we had any children, or romantically with anyone after marriage.

Then she turned to me asked: Spouse’s information, have I met his parents, their names. She then asked my have I ever been kicked out of school (I was on f1 visa). Next she went over some yes or no questions, and that was it.

In the end, she said “I’ll look over the stuff you brought today and if everything looks good, you should expect your green card next month”.

She did not give us an answer right away, nor did she give us a 120-day paper either.

i just hope everything went well because I thought if you don’t get approved on spot, you’ll get a 120-day paper.

I really don’t understand it! Especially when people have already been approved. I knew it was gonna be a long wait but I just panicked reading everyone’s success stories. Happy for them, but nervous for me lol so I’m happy that someone else is in the same position and it’s not just me. I was gonna phone but I don’t know who to phone and what to say. It does say on the website the processing time is 10.5to 23 months. But someone said they received ssn and ead. For me it still says “case recieved” for the ead

Well after the whole debacle of USCIS losing my change of address, they’ve gone ahead and cancelled my interview in Charleston SC, despite me confirming with a tier 2 rep that I would indeed like to attend this interview even though I’m now out of state.

Feels like we just took a step backward, but I’m trying to forget about it and get into the Christmas spirit. Hope all of my fellow August filers have a very merry and safe Christmas.

Had my interview 10:30 this morning  at Kansas city. The IO was really nice and made us feel real comfortable very quickly. We felt at ease, so the nerves went away. He only asked us how we met? and asked me the yes/no questions on i-485...that's it! Didn't even ask for any originals or passport...which I thought was kinda odd. He just asked for my medical. At the end he said I don't have to worry anymore because he is recommending me for approval! 3:00pm my status changed to "New card is being produced".!!! 😊

Wife was just approved at her interview at the Des Moines office.  Interview took about 30 minutes.  The Officer pretty much just went straight down the I-485 questionnaire and had wife confirm the answers.  Asked a few questions about where we got married, etc. but it was a minimal amount.  We provided plenty of documentation.  Officer appreciated the print outs of Facebook posts.  Should have the card in the mail in 3 to 4 weeks.

So happy for you and your husband! I'm glad us August filers are starting to get interviews. Where are you thinking to go on your honeymoon?

We also had our interview today, but it was a lot different from yours.
It didn't seem like the IO really even looked at our file before calling us in, it was as if it was her first time seeing it once we were already in the room. She barely looked at our bona fide marriage evidence, including the pictures.
We also were not separated, we were in the room together. She mostly just confirmed what was in our petition, with minimal questions about our marriage.
Then we got on the topic of knowing one anothers' language, she wanted me (USC) to say something to my husband in Korean, I guess to prove that I know how to speak it?
And that was pretty much it.

Anyway, I don't know the backend of how USCIS operates, but she ended up handing us a piece of paper that said they have all of our documentation but have yet to make a final decision... She did say that the case "looks approvable", though. I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what that means -- was she not the final authority on if it gets approved? I can only consider two possibilities - she did not really look through our file prior to interviewing us and wanted to review the paperwork further, or she had to get approval from another IO due to some "yes" answers to the inadmissibility questions. Korean men all have to serve in the military so he had to answer "yes" to the weapons training and foreign military questions.

To top it off, the USCIS website has been down all day so I can't obsessively check our case status LOL

Me and my husband had our interview today, Boston office. This is our experience:

    1. Everybody was super helpful and nice while we waited to be called. Do not arrive more than 30 mins before your assigned time, you can only check in 30 mins prior.

    2. They had the office at 80 degrees!!! I don’t know why the hell they do this but we were melting there (30 degrees outside)

    3. We got called separately, I was expecting this because we are an interracial couple and observing the other couples, everybody seemed to be from the same country. I have also travel A LOT! Lived in London and Dubai at some point of my life, I always get double questions for it.

    4. My husband (the petitioner) got picked first in a very intimidating way. That’s when I felt like it was 100 degrees inside 😂😂😂.

    5. I got called second. First comment: “YOU TRAVEL A LOT” hahha. Then proceed to ask me about first date, personal details, husband’s parents names... when did we get married... if my husband dances... random stuff. Then summarised all the Yes No questions.

    6. The interview finished with him joking about how his coworker goes to the place we went to on our first date. Then asked for the financial info.  He APPROVED our case there.

    7. My husband jumped of happiness and gave me a kiss in front of him😂😂😂😂.

Overall it was fine, I actually got a bit emotional remembering when we first met cause we haven’t separated since then.

no lawyers, no interpreters (I understand not everybody can do this) but for a process we worked ourself I’m quite pleased.

5 months later and I can finally plan our honeymoon!!!!!❤️
