Finally recovering from last weekend.  We were in the Keys with my daughter and son in law and two of their friends for lobstering.  Florida spiny lobsters.  Picture from the first half day out on the water.  They did get more the next few days.  As usual I am the only one not in the photo!  WOW, the water temp was way up there making it extra difficult to find the " bugs ".  93+ degrees.

Think I mentioned before that my daughter is having twins in December so she didn't do any diving.  My daughter was a little unhappy with her husband.  He has been buying items for the coming babies.  Cribs, car seats, strollers, etc.  My daughter pays the bills and noticed a charge for noise cancelling headphones.  She asked him why...he said he didn't want the babies waking him up in the middle of the night!

Mrs. T-B. found the one box dedicated solely to the [censored] Guayaquil consulate, and said, "I didn't realize that you had to go through all that."

The chief of the IV Unit there is now retired from the Foreign Service and is writing anti-immigrant pieces for a think-tank.  I have this mind-movie of plastering the contents of that box all over him with use of SuperGlue, then soaking him in honey and staking him in a field full of fire-ants.  I would then stand there and mildly observe (aloud), "See what just a taste of what you put us all through is like?"  I would surely be joined by at least half a dozen other petitioners of my era.  See the first 8 pages or so of:

Typically, it's been recommended here to wait 2 years.
That can be very satisfying.  We ought to make USCIS pay us back for all of our trauma, so how about using the papers for a weenie-roast, or fireplace kindling?

Janet3's advice is excellent.  If you do a timeline, even more detail will help.  If I remember, dealing with the Vietnam consulate necessitated an exhaustive, almost microscopic account from start to finish.  There has to be a sample or an outline somewhere in that forum.  Pursue WhatsApp and scroll through or search the Vietnam forum.

Have you contacted Whatsapp? They may be able to give you more than the online history. If they can't give you more history, I would definitely follow T bones advice. Record your history....here is how I would record it (give me some grace...it's been years now)
Met Mr Wonderful July 3, 2016 via the website international cupid.
Spoke to Mr Wonderful via Skype and Whatsapp (and his family) for 9 months.
Met Mr Wonderful in person in Germany December 27, 2016. We stayed with friends of his in Germany.
We traveled from Germany to Prague on December 30, 2016 where he met my sister. We stayed in Prague for three days.
I traveled to Algeria on March 16, 2017 and stayed with Mr Wonderful and his family.
I traveled to Algeria on October 18, 2017 and stayed with Mr Wonderful and his family.
    Add pictures and receipts.
It worked for us in a fairly difficult embassy.

This will be the sticking point in regard to most if not all financial accounts.  The immigrant can sometimes be added without an SSN once he/she is in the U.S., but this stage would be after your current hurdle.

This is a guess, but I suspect that the Sri Lankan consulate isn't one of the busiest.  Your case is probably in a consular officer's short stack of 221g cases.

It will take a couple of days for the Congressional office to be able to act.  You'll be asked to sign a form that gives the office permission to help with your issue.  If you look today and happen to find that form on your Congressman's website, see if you can complete it in advance.  Before submitting it, I suggest phoning the office on Monday to speak directly with the immigration liaison, and mentioning at that time that you've completed the form and can e-mail it right away.

Does the consulate understand that WhatsApp call-logs are stored for only 3 months?  Maybe the Congressman's office can make that point.  If all else fails, try contacting WhatsApp to see if someone can help to recover records that cover a longer period (keep asking for a supervisor).

Is there anything at all that could cause someone to suspect that this is not a bona fide relationship?  Have you sent piles and piles of money to your wife or her family, for instance?

If not, it sounds to me that the consulate is intentionally throwing roadblocks in front of a straightforward case.  Unless you hear specifics from the consulate, you'll have to rely on advice and information from this site and from your Congressman's office.  I've been in your position, sadly.

Give us consistent updates, and we'll all put our heads together regarding how to proceed.

I'm not sure that it's the same consular administration, but someone else had an absolutely terrible time with your consulate.

It's interesting that they would phone you.  I had not heard of this as a typical procedure.

You might not have done any of this yet (most couples with one USC spouse and one overseas spouse probably would not), but have you (the USC) drafted or executed any estate documents -- a will, a power of attorney, or similar -- naming her?  That's all that I can think of.

Have you involved your Congressman's immigration liaison by having him/her inquire about your case status?

Just wanted to add to this from the perspective of someone currently going through the IVF process (I'm 37).

Realistically, it's likely going to be difficult for your partner to naturally conceive at 43. I don't want to make you feel negative, but when you have a limited window, it's important to be realistic. I'm currently going through IVF due to infertility, as are 3 of my friends, who are aged 40, 41 and 41.

@Jeanne Adil made an excellent point re the risk of giving birth to a child as an unwed mother - so it definitely sounds like you should prioritize marrying first of all, before anything else.

I would then recommend starting IVF in Iran. By all means, try naturally first of all if you want - but I can't express this enough - don't waste a lot of time on this. At 43, your partner's chance of naturally just conceiving is less than 5% - and that doesn't even factor in the increased chance of miscarriages (unfortunately, I also speak from experience of miscarriages too).

I've just checked the prices of IVF in Iran and they are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than in the US. To put things in perspective, the cost of one IVF cycle at the hospital/clinic I use costs around $30,000, once you factor in all the meds, appointments, procedures, etc.

So, financially, it's probably better to do IVF in Iran. You could also then get married, apply for the CR1 and then do the IVF process whilst you're waiting for the CR1 to come through. You don't need to be present for the IVF process, except for giving a sample at the clinic - which can then be frozen for when it's needed.

I know this isn't the information you've asked for - but I think it's really important that you both have this info, if you're not already aware.

Hello what a great idea to have a child with the one you love but however its not going to make a difference as far as the process it's the core evidence itself yes having a Birth Certificate as part of your evidence is a strong piece of evidence but shouldn't be thought of as a guaranteed approval .I have  a friend who petition his fiancee from the Philippines she became pregnant and they had no issues then on the other hand I know people who are married with multiple children and get denied CR1  . See the comparison, as compiled by our fine member Crazy Cat:
    K-1
        More expensive than CR-1
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 6-8 months)
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 6-8 months)
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.
A K-1 might be a better choice when 18-21 year old children are immigrating also
In some situations, marriage can affect certain Home country benefits, making a K-1 a better choice
A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire
        CR-1
        Less expensive than K-1
No Adjustment of Status (I-485, I-131, I-765) required.
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.
Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.

My MIL is the worse of the two. She does this passive aggressive junk and she will do it to the kids. Well my younger two are not her favourite as they have sass and aren't afraid to use it.  MIL likes to say if I said one word to my kids they would listen they wouldn't disobey me and all this #######. Well my husband turned out to be one of her kids and seems to think she has lost her marbles.
Oh how cool. Good luck, my daughter had a chameleon. Now he have snakes, tortoises and lizards.

So I complained about my Roborok vacuum on Amazon review. I have had it almost a year and well I didn't like it as much as their other version. I got a email from Roborok and they wanted some video's and pictures. They asked a lot of questions and then offered to fix it. They sent me a postage paid shipping label and I shipped it off. I didn't expect too much out of it. Just simple we fixed it here you go.

Yesterday I found a box outside. Brought it is and it felt like my vacuum. I opened it up and saw the box. I'm thinking hmm they put it in a new box, no way did they send me a new one. Open it up and yes it is a totally new vacuum. I charged it up and now it's running through the house and so much more quiet. I can actually walk away from it and not hear it in another room.  I'm impress with this and will see more when it is done cleaning if it picks up and holds the dirt better.
