Yes, same. But he’s in the US and I’m abroad
14 months for a spouse of a US citizen? Are they nuts? Are we supposed to stay apart for 2 years? Crazy

eliottreid got a reaction from tendrementchoco in 2019 J1 WAIVER TIMELINE - New Applicants
I received the approval letter but in it it was written the DOS sent a favorable recommendation when in my case it was NOT favorable. I asked my senator to email them to double check and of course they emailed her back saying it was approved in error and they are reopening the case.
I feel like this should be illegal to play with people's future and emotions like this. RIDICULOUS.

So I had gotten my ead in April 2018 and it expired April 2019 however I had filed the ead extension for 6 months and got approval so my ead was valued for six more months after the expired date so I was allowed to work up to October of this year....

I contacted them and I got this automatic response:
IMPORANT NOTICE: The J Waiver Online website is experiencing technical difficulties at present and applicants' case statuses are currently unavailable as a result. We are aware of the issue and are working with IT support to rectify the problem. Please note that this problem is not negatively impacting the processing of cases, only an applicant's ability to check the status of their case online. We appreciate your patience as we endeavor to find a solution.

@eliottreid @Coco8 @JWaiver_2019
Update. Even if my waiver case never move forward (Fulbright, NOS), my lawyer still decided to file for H-1B without waiting for the waiver answer based on the multiple stays I had made in my home country for the last six years (I did cumulate the 730 days between 2013 and 2019). I just gave my lawyer the date of my stays which corresponded to my official travel history provided by CBP. They didn’t requested any further documentation.
They filed expedite on 08/06 and my case was approved yesterday 08/07! There is all my fear of not ever going back home gone!
Good luck to all of you still waiting for approval!

Nothing. The lawyer is filling for H-1B this week without waiting for the recommendation based on the days I have spent in my home country after my J1 and during my F1. Six years went by and I have been lucky to travel back home twice a year at least during all summer and winter breaks. We'll see how things go! I'll keep you posted! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you too!

I am no expert, just regular reader in the forum. I am just saying that you should say 3-8 weeks to avoid disappointment. Some people timeline is way shorter while some have to wait alot longer.
Even your favourable response after NOS timeline was very short compared to others in this forum.
There is no set timeline with this process.

She better get the F1 visa for the school she will attend PRIOR to leaving. She can’t use F1 visa for the school she won’t attend.

eliottreid reacted to USS_Voyager in F1 approved. Changed mind about school want to attend
I’m sorry but that I think that’s just wrong. She can enter the US using the visa. The F1 visa is NOT school-specific, although it mentions the name of the school. She has to have documentations (I-20 of the new school, and financial documents,... ) and answer truthfully when asked, but yes, she can enter using the visa and the I-20 of the new school.

Hi @eliottreid! I think they are trying to evaluate if you spent a responsible time back in your home country, even if you did not go back to your home country for 2 years in a row. In my own statement, I did write that I had already spent a significant amount of days in my home country (all breaks), and that I will finish my 730 days at home this very summer. I wish you all the best! Fingers crossed!

Hi guys,
I found it tremendously helpful to browse this forum while my J1 two-year no objection waiver was pending. Thanks to everyone posting their timelines in the past. I also wanted to share my timeline quickly (TLDR: after DOS received all documents, total processing took ~8 weeks. The DOS part took ~5 weeks. The USCIS part took ~3 weeks):
Here the dates:

April, 12, 2019 Sent documents for No Objection Statement to my embassy
April, 22, 2019 Check was cashed by DOS (does not appear on tracking page yet)
May, 6, 2019 USPS tracking indicates that "No Objection Statement" is received by DOS

May, 30, 2019 Receipt of "No Objection Statement" appears on the waiver tracking website. Probably coincidence and nothing to do with my email.
No Objection Statement Received
June, 11, 2019 Status on waiver tracking website indicates "Favorable Recommendation"

June, 17, 2019 Receive reply to my email to DOS on May, 30, 2019 with an explanation for the delay (backlog) and saying that my case was forwarded to USCIS.

eliottreid got a reaction from dzmichellebkt in Algeria marriage
I'm sorry but where did you get this law?
In Algeria, this is the case only for your ex-wife not for a new wife and only for those who use the "I divorce you thrice" lol.
The only issue for men is the "waiting period" for reconciliation but once it's gone and you receive your civil divorce, it's done. It's more complicated for women of course.
