This is a question for those of you who have experience with AOS interviews.
Do we need to have wedding rings for the interview? We married in the city clerk's office last October, and we're planning on a big ceremony next year -- so we don't have the rings yet. It just occurred to me that they might care at the interview. Our current financial circumstances don't really allow us to splurge on fancy rings, but we really want nice wedding rings, and also a nice wedding (hence we're putting it off until next year). I do have an engagement ring.
Do you have any advice?
I really dont think its a big deal if you have rings or not, if you dont have the money what can you do. I havent gone to an aos interview but Im sure they want more important evidence. Some people dont even believe in the ring exchanging thing, Dont worry Im sure you will be ok

I think we might need some more information. How did she get into the US?
She was petitioned by my dad (us citizen) years back... She is not worried about herself she has no problems with anything or anyone she just wants to become a us citizen to fix her husbands papers and of course to have all the other right as a citizen.. The question is that in the application N-400 that she is filling out, it asks a lot of questions about her husband like where he lives, and if he is a citizen or resident which he is NOT, so she is scared that immigration might come get him and deport him since they know where he lives and all that..
-
My sister has been an LPR for over 5 years now and is ready to beome a citizen so she is filing the N-400, Now the question she was asking me is that on the application she has to fill out her spouses information and STATUS which he is living here with her but he is an ilegal alien. She is scared that ICE or who ever else might come and get him to deport him since they know everything about him.... I dont know what to tell her, since I know for sure she cant lie but what do you think we should do, if anyone has any comments or suggestion they will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced

Well if I was in your shoes I would just renew it, I dont think you will have a problem when coming back since it will be valid when they check it. But you will always need a passport to travel so why not just have it good and ready in case of anything. Enjoy your vacation!

Congratulations Utz119!!

OK, the story:
Rodolfo and I met in 2002 in the US, he was here illegally. In 2006 he got arrested for assault and that's when we all found out about his status. He went to ICE and was released on $6,000 bond. The judge recomended that he leave the US voluntary and he did last March.
So... I'm meeting with a lawyer soon to go over our K-1 Visa application and help us out. I am curious what some of you VJers might ask the lawyer if you were in my situation. I am compiling a BIG list of questions and things I want to go over with him. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated! Thanks
.
Basically you will have to worry about the waiver and proof of the hardship and burden you will have without him here with you. Ask him if he will be available for a waiver or if he has have any bans. I had to file a waiver myself and it was harder and more stressful than I thought it would be since I thought I was just going to get my visa when I went for my interview. But you should check out this website that helped me a lot like crazy www.immigrate2us.net there will be a lot more people going through the same thing you are, and also there is a very good attorney thats in Texas that specializes in waivers and bans that has a chat on that website every wednesday (I think) and maybe you can sonsult with him as well and see who would be better for you, since you have a little more work on your case. But Good Luck hope everything goes well!!!

I havent heard of anything like that yet.

So..My daughter and myself both had our biometrics today at the Charleston office, easy peasy!lol
Question: I recieved and RFE yesterday for the NOA from I129F(well..my lawyer recieved it..one would think she had included it when she filed..but whatever!!lol)
an RFE for I129F..would that just delay the I-485 process? or at this point will it be holding up the EAD and AP as well? I know they seperate the files..I'm just not sure at what point they seperate them..
AND..my lawyer recieved it..I didn't recieve anything yet..do you think they'll still e-mail when they resume processing?
thanks to anyone who can understand my rambling!
S
I dont think it gets delayed I received an RFE for I-864 and my case is going just like it supposed to along with the other january filers, Just make sure you answer them quick if you havent done it so. And yes you will be notified online only when they receive your RFE response.

just got AP document today.. wasnt expecting that one as i wasn't getting it to track online! and our EAD card production email has come twice so we're hoping to see that soon.. thats the one we're really concerned about, i'd like him to have a job!!
Freecake, a similar thing happened to me as well. I received the AP in the mail, but my online case for AP was not updated - it still shows as application received/pending.
My EAD status was updated properly and I did receive that in the mail. Incidentally, both the AP and EAD came on the same day for me.
I guess I am back to the forum after the K1 wait last summer.
I have the inverse situation. We filed late January, receive the 3 NOA1's early Feb and since NOTHING. Only recently I realized that my MSC number was finally responding online.
It says that our AP was approved on March 14 and sent by mail. But we haven't seen anything in the mail!! My wife has her plane ticket for April 4th (going back to Switzerland to prepare the religious wedding there for this summer) and it has been close to 2 weeks that they say the AP has been sent. Just getting a bit nervous.
Also, the AP new is the first and only piece of news we have received about our cases (AP, AOS and EAD). No appointment for the biometrics, no other notice in the mail or online. Should I worry even more??
thanks for any input...
Stephan
Well I would worry a little since you havent done your biometrics and you filed sort of when all of us january filed and most of us are halfway done with Aos. I would call that misinformation line or make an infopass appointment and maybe they can tell you if they sent out a biometrics appointment or something like that, also are you sure you are getting your mail because I dont think it takes 2 weeks to get something from them. I didnt get any notice of biometrics online only through the hard copy so dont rely on that online case status checking..

Omg I received 2 e-mails from CRIS today but only that my case was touched.. I hope I wake up tomorrow to another e-mail from them stating that card production was ordered, just like Amy and Brian. Congratulations to you Amy and Brian Great News!! All these touches make me get so excited lol

I dont think you will have any problems, as getting student assistance under the Higher Education Act is not a mean tested public benefit. As soon as I get my green card I will be applying for grants and all that through fafsa and get back to school
. You know me and you have a very similar timeline and as soon as you hear something I will be checking my e-mail every minute and if I hear something first you should check your e-mail every minute as well. Hope we hear something soon so me and my hubby can celebrate (Im already planning a celebration) I really want to get my Drivers license and work.

HOw many I-512L you guys receive in mail?
I received 2 of them

I cant believe it. Thats crazy

Hello everyone this is is my first AOS post and hope everyone is well with their journey. Here my question I have a co spon with my K1 do we each fill out the 864?
Yes you have to send an I-864 for each the petitioner and the co sponsor and send along with the supporting documents for each.. I received an RFE for not sending my petitioners affidavit of support..

Wow Converse34 those are awesome news Cobgratulations!!! Everything was Very quick

Sounds like it was a piece of cake
Congratulations!!! I know ya'll must be happy..

Do they still process ead at local office with the noa?? I really think that I will be getting green card soon
And yeah I see a lot of action on everybodies case whooo!!! I dont think that there were too many january filers, which I guess its better for us
OOps I meant that they were not too many january filers so everybody might have a speedy approval...
um...you DO know that not ALL AOS filers post on VJ, right??????????????
Yeah I know that not ALL AOS filers post on VJ (of course) but compare to the other months in here it seems like there wasn't too many filers...
-
I would definitely prefer an approval without the interview, I think its way better that way you dont have to get everything together for the interview and have that rush of whats going to happen and all that. Now I dont want to be stuck in a namecheck either, which you can get in both positions so yeah. But since the beginning of all this process I was hoping to get transfer and I did, so now I just hope for the best for me and everybody else.. Congratulations vivi and jim jim I know how you feel
and nobody knows maybe the infopass did help????

depends which name she wants to use in the future! the name youre going to use in your aos paperwork is going to be on your green card! if you need to change the name on your green card later you have to file a certain form and pay a lot of money for the change.
so deciede wisely!
So I can we go ahead and put my last name as her last now even if we haven't done any changes on her social security card. I wasn't sure when to do it because I know we got married but didn't think we could change her last name until we had her social security card changed over. So does that go for the bank account too or do you have to have an ID showing she has my last name?
When I went to open up the new joint account with husband I just showed them my marriage certificate with my passport and that was fine, til now I still havent changed my maiden name to married name at the social security office since I guess its not neccesarry I dont want to make 2 trips so I will just go change it when I receive green card that way I shoot two birds at once
And yeah it would be better to put her married name on all documents that way in my opinion it proofs its a ligitimate marriage and all that.... Good luck to you
