  1. Hi Everyone, I became a citizen about few months ago, and coming to update the SSN. Questions a) Do I get to keep the same number? (may be silly question and would think so, but being here for 10 years and suddenly changing the number seems like it'd be.. weird?) b) Can I do this process in person? I do have a passport card, but I'd prefer if it I could do it in person instead of mailing everything c) Is this the form I have to fill? https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5.pdf Thank you!!
  2. I had my interview at Newark, they did ask for State ID which I said I don't have one - and it ended there -. I took my deed and electricity bill as proof of residency. No hassle and no headaches
  3. I did yes! I followed this genius below, as I have an international trip soon
  4. I got the notice in early May. Here's the updated timeline to include that: Application date: 14th July, 2020 (NEW YORK) Move: October 2020, to NJ, transferred case - Nov, confirmation of case transfer to Newark. Bio Reuse notice: late March, 2021 Interview Notice: early May, 2021 Interview Date: 7th, July, 2021 - 01:45 pm Oath Ceremony: 7th, July, 2021 - 03:20 pm
  5. I just got back from Newark, 01:45 slot, and got same day oath! (interview was around 02:30, and oath around 03:30). Extremely pleasant people with super chill interview. overall timeline: Application date: 14th July, 2020 (NEW YORK) Move: October 2020, to NJ, transferred case - Nov, confirmation of case transfer to Newark. Bio Reuse notice: March, 2021 Interview Date: 7th, July, 2021 - 01:45 pm Oath Ceremony: 7th, July, 2021
  6. Hi Everyone, My journey has finally ended! I applied to n400 last July (NYC, 5 years rule) moved to NJ in October. Had my biometrics re-use letter in March, and just came back from the interview at Newark, where I also did the Oath shortly after. IO was super friendly and nice, and everyone there extremely helpful and welcoming. What I took with me: 5 years of tax returns Passport (expired) Select service registration Marriage certificate and divorce certificate Green card (the 10 years one) but also the expired one, and the work permit Proof of home purchase Electricity bill What she looked at: Only most recent tax return The passports Didn't care about SS, cause I'm also older than 31 Didn't care about my marriage certificate nor divorce given the 5 years rule, although she did ask my current marital status Didn't look at the bills/deed. After she asked me the questions/writing/reading, we went through all of the yes/no questions, and I was approved. She then took my green card, asked for the expired one, and if I had a work permit. All was handed over, and I got the 'you're approved' letter. Waited about an hour, and had the oath with 12 or so more people. Very painless and super easy. Now onwards to waiting 8-12 weeks for a passport, ha! Thanks everyone for all the help getting me here. You were all crucial for this success. Hope my experience helps! Best of luck
  7. Does anyone know if Newark is still doing same day oaths?
  8. Funny enough, I actually found a letter they automatically signed me up for it in 2014, with numbers and all.. I couldn't find in the system cause they didn't attach a SSN to it.. Guess I'm covered either way
  9. As always, this community is incredible. Thank you SO much!
  10. Thank you so much, Arken, for helping with my panic :). They wrote in my letter "MUST BRING", so I kinda panicked.. (maybe that's just standard?) For the test, I'm confused cause there are two versions, and I'm not sure which one to follow as I applied technically before the change went in place. Do I get to choose?
  11. Okay, upon digging more, I found out this on the selective service page. as I'm currently 33, it seems I'd be ok without the status letter?
  12. Hi Friends, First, thank you so much for all your wonderful help thus far. You've been incredible in my journey. So, I'm a NJ applicant (originally new york, moved to NJ in between) and finally got my Oath interview on the 07th of July. Everything looking good, but a few questions, as I'm panicking a) Where exactly do I go to study the latest version of the test? b) and most importantly: It asks that I bring proof of Selective Service Registration. I've been a resident since Feb 20th, 2014, and I'm currently 33 years old (born April 21st, 1988), which means I was about 25 and 10 months when I became a resident.. I don't think I ever registered. I just called the selective service registration and they couldn't find records either, but said I need an exempt letter which could take 3-4 weeks to get to me.. if that's true, I won't have this for my interview, hence my desperation. Any advice here? Online isn't finding me either and I went from being super excited to super panicked Thanks everyone!
