  1. My husband will be having his interview December 21, the last full weekend before Christmas. I went ahead and bought his ticket for the 25th i know that i should wait on till i get the visa, but it the tickets are very expensive from Jamaica $700+ after the 25th.

My question is can he show the CO officer at the kingston embassy his ticket (after he gets approved) and ask them if he can pick it up friday the 23rd, because DHL in jamaica will not be working the 26th or the 27th.

    Answers??????

You should not have bought the ticket yet. They tell you not to purchase any tickets until you have the actual visa in hand. It can take up to 2 weeks to get the visa.

My case was 1 week in supervisor review. I kept calling them once a week. Stay on top of them but be nice when you speak to them even though you may be frustrated.

Do not be discouraged if they say the supervisor review does take 4-6 weeks. Mine or anyone else has not taken that long. Just be patient and keep calling.

    GOD BLESS>

I call them once a day. I will continue being patient until our time comes. Thank you for the information.

  3. Good Friday Ya'll,

Here is an update on the email I received from NVC advising "your case is complete but additional information is requested" I called them on Wednesday and the agent advised there is nothing to send it. The agent advised that my wife needs to have the police certificate with her at the interview, and that is all. She again advised me to NOT send it to NVC but have my wife have it with her at the time of the interview.

WHEW, not papers to send :)

I asked if there is an interview date yet, she said "you are in queue but no date yet"

Today, 11/04/2016, I received another email from NVC advising that they have received and reviewed all paperwork and at this time they are communicating with the US Embassy for an interview date. They mentioned something about Priority Date but I was advised that Priority Date does not affect US Citizens applying for spouses. I REALLY believed that this email today would have the Interview Date but it did not.

Anyone have any idea as to when may that one arrive ;) ?

In the end, we are in queue for the interview but no date given yet. I HOPE TO GOD it comes soon :)

Thank you all for sticking with me through this.

Any comments, suggestions, and PRAYERS are welcomed.

    GOD BLESS

Wow this is excellent news! and I know you cannot wait to get your actual interview date. It all depends on the embassy, hopefully you will have an interview date this coming week! When was your case completed?

  4. Hi everyone

After a long wait at USCIS, we are finally at NVC stage. DS261 has been reviewed and AOS paid. Now waiting for IV fee to unlock. As I have read we can start compiling our documents and submit the AOS and IV package to NVC even before we pay the IV fee or complete the DS260. I'm confused about the Document Cover Sheet and am hoping for some clarification from experienced VJers.

    1) can I print and use the Document Cover Sheet from the NVC welcome email or do I need to wait for hard copy welcome letter in the mail? I've called NVC twice and gotten two different answers.

    2) How many of the Document Cover Sheets do I use? 1 for both packages or do I print two and use 1 per package? AOS + IV

    Thanks for any help

  5. National Visa Center Offers Insight Into Recent Delays in Case Processing

The National Visa Center (NVC) has offered some insight into the reasons for the recent delays we have seen in the time it takes to process an immigrant visa case through the NVC.

    • Over the past year, the NVC was inundated with immigrant visa cases from USCIS, as USCIS shifted its workload to focus on the backlog of stand-alone I-130 cases.
    • The NVC used to receive approximately 8,000 cases per week. As USCIS continued to dig out of its backlog, the NVC began receiving around 25,000 cases per week.
    • The NVC is now receiving a large increase in non-current cases as well.
    • Over the past several months, much of the backlog was at the front end of the process – case creation. The case creation process was at 45 days over the summer. It is now at 12 days.
    • At present, delays continue at the document review stage (55 days, down from 60 days). Staff are cross-trained and resources have been reallocated to document review to bring the backlog down.
    • The NVC is hiring additional staff and looking at its internal processes and will continue to work on improvements.

Without a doubt, we could add to this list the fact that the monumental forward movement of the EB-3 category for the Philippines has significantly increased the number of cases the NVC is receiving.

Hopefully the efforts the NVC has made toward reducing the delays will allow us to get back to the reasonable processing times we have seen in the past.
