Ok, so today in the mail my husband got a notice for a biometrics appointment. We filed for his AOS about a year ago and he had a biometrics march of last year.
So I checked the case status and it says the petition was approved 3 days ago...
So what I'm wondering is why would he have to get a second biometrics? Especially since the petition was approved 3 days later...
Is this normal? Or do u think they accidentally mailed the appointment notice instead of an approval notice?
And another thing...we mailed in an AR-11 back in november when we moved...but this appointment notice that we just received has our old address on it even though we received a receipt saying they received it and changed our address back in november.
So any suggestions on all this? I mean he is going to call tomorrow...but I am afraid they won't tell us anything...and I'm also afraid they are going to maintain that we did not send the change of address and we'll be screwed because it's been like 3 months.

ok well thanks guys...I just wanted to see if it was normal to still be waiting...i don't really mind the wait i guess, I just get a little worried that's all!!

Hi...we filed our aos at the end of Feb. 2008, on March 20th they transferred our case to the California Service Center. I'm starting to get a little concerned...it's been quite a while and we haven't heard a thing...anyone else in this situation? Is it normal to be waiting this long?? I'm just looking for a little advice here...so anything would be helpful. thanks!

we got a receipt notice for the I-131 dated february 22. But when I try checking the case status on uscis website it is not showing up. I just called and tried to check the status that way and I get same thing. It's like the case number is not even in their system even though we received our receipt. Has anybody else had this problem? Any suggestions on what I can do?

I filed our taxes recently. All I put down was her SSN. She didn't have any income from the states, so no W2 and therefore no income (even tho she worked as a nurse overseas.) No need for the statement. I claimed her as a dependant similar to how you would claim a new baby. Just go to a tax office that will back you up if you are audited. I wouldn't worry about any income that he had BEFORE he had a SSN. According to the government, you don't exist until you have a SSN anyway.
Since I have income and he does not does that automatically make him a dependent? I'm so sorry, I'm awful with this stuff.

All you need is the TaxId if you don't you hav an SSN.
Regarding WW Income, it is only for USC unless he's claiming deductions on the foreign loans.
He has a SSN, so does that mean that we do not need to include the statement even though he is a non resident alien and we are filing jointly? And he does not have to do anything with the income he made in Canada at the beginning of 2007?
-
My husband and I just got back from doing our taxes. He does not have his greencard yet so from my understanding we needed a statement agreeing for him to file as a resident for tax purposes. My tax lady said this statement is not necessary though but Im thinking she iis wrong. So can someone tell me if I'm right here? And also, he's to claim world wide income?? Is this just what he may have made in the U.S. or also what he made back in Canada last year??
Sorry I'm not so good with the tax stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Do I need to submit evidence such as joint bank accounts and lease agreements with AOS paperwork, or will they need that evidence later? Just want to be sure!! Thanks!!

so if I change online do I still need to send the AR-11?
should I send it anyways and also call them to see if its in there?
and also when do they transfer cases?
Im moving on the 11th and wonder if it will be sent out yet to an office..
so will they transfer from Baltimore to Dallas?
I don't know the answers to all your questions but if you change your address online then you do not need to mail them the AR-11 too. I wouldn't bother calling them to make sure they changed it because when I did they said they had no way to check that.

This is what it says on the USCIS website:
U.S. Citizens who do not have an application or petition pending with USCIS are only legally required to notify USCIS of a change of address if they have previously submitted a Form I-864 on behalf of someone who has become a permanent resident. If you have previously submitted a Form I-864 for someone who immigrated to the U.S., you must complete a Form I-865 within ten days of the completion of your move.
I know they do word things really weird but the only way I can interpret this is that I do not have to fill it out since we have not sent them the I-864 yet. I guess I will just try calling them today, not that I expect any kind of answer. And then I'll just send them the I-865 anyway.
-
Just making sure I understand this. I haven't done my I864 yet, so do i still need to fill out the I865?? I mean I was the sponser for his I134 though. Anyone know??
-
I didn't know this. It's been 2 months since I moved, do u think sending it in late will cause problems?

My husband filled out and mailed AR-11 about 2 months ago. I called USCIS 2 weeks ago to verify that they had received it and they told me that they have no way to check on that. She just told me that we should receive a written notice in about 45 days and that if we do not receive it soon we could either go online and change it or mail them another form. We just went on the USCIS website to do that but it says that if you change your address online then you should not mail them the AR-11. So my question is do I change it online or keep waiting for the written notice?? I just don't want us to get screwed cuz they don't know what they're doing.

I-693 full medical or I-693A supplement? As long as medical is less than a year before filing the I-485, you should be fine.
Anyway: you send in the sealed envelope, this proves to USCIS that it has not been tampered with,
Sorry I didn't specify, It is the I693A supplement. I guess I"m just worried they may not receive the AOS paperwork and have it put into their system in time, and by then it'd be past the year mark and he'd have to get another medical exam.
-
I just picked up my husbands I693 form from the civil surgeon. They have both the orginal form and a copy in a sealed envelope, do they actually need to be sealed? Or can I just take the form out and send with everything else?
Also, I will be mailing the AOS paperwork out tomorrow, and it'll be a year since his medical exam on January 16th. Are we cutting this too close?

Awesome!! Thanks!!!

I understand that if my husband had his medical less than a year ago all we need to submit is the vaccination supplement. But I just want to clarify that we just have to file before that year is up correct? I guess what i'm trying to ask is if our interview comes up and its been over a year since his medical are they going to expect another medical exam, or are we safe as long as we have filed before the year is up. Hope I made myself clear enough!!

How long does it usually take for Montreal to get the visa to you? We had our interview on Mon. June 18th and all went well!! But my fiance still hasn't gotten the visa in the mail. Of course he hasn't really been home a lot but if they stopped by to deliver it I'm sure they would leave a note. It's probably too soon to worry right?
-
What exactly is this and will we need it for filing AOS?
-
My fiance just got his passport renewed and his interview is monday. So the forms he filled out for packet 3 and sent to Montreal have a different passport number and expiration date on them since he now has a new one. Is this going to be a problem or will we just be able to change the number on the forms??

Ok, first, on my !-134 question seven it says i have on deposit in savings banks in the U.S. This is savings accounts only, not including checking accounts, correct??
Next. I'll be going to the interview with my fiance, i do not have a passport yet, I know i can drive into Canada with just a birth certificate and drivers license but what about getting into the embassy??
Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I had to ask!!
visas are issued in the passports, you'd need to obtain one :/ i've heard them described as stamps/stickers. they go right in the passports themselves.
Well Im the USC....I just didn't know if i actually needed one to get into the embassy because i'm going to the interview with my fiance.

If you want to make your trip to the passport office less painful, fill out your application online and print it out. If you walk in with a online-prepared package and all of your supporting documentation/guaranteed photos, they will rush you to the head of the line and you won't have to brave the long line ups, which can be a problem in some areas still. When I went at the end of January, there was still a six hour wait, but I was rushed through two different stop points, and I was in and out of there in ten minutes, head still spinning.
Doing it online is less of a pain, too, because it sorts through the not applicable questions for you.
Can I get a website for the application?? It's for my fiance and he might know where to find it but just in case....

I have all my paperwork in a 13 pocket accordion folder I purchased at Staples. It's loaded with original documents along with a 2 copies of everything we sent. I have the complete packet 3 copied also in there. You might say I am just leery of Montreal and the whole USCIS process There is also the engagement receipt, pics of us , airline boarding passes emails, cards we exchanged phone bills, calling cards (evidence of our ongoing relationship) along with restaurant, theatre receipts and other events we attended while I was visiting Lorry
Will they allow me through security with this accordion folder? It has a clear plastic front but the back flap is a solid tan color. I hope it won't be a problem, as it would be difficult keeping everything orderly in a plastic bag
That's pretty much what I'm bringing in too so hopefully it'll work.
husband still waiting for greencard after approval...
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas
Posted
His AOS was approved on Feb. 10th with no interview...welcome letter was received in the mail shortly after but still no greencard. When he calls USCIS they give him basically no useful information. We did move back in November but filled out an AR-11 then and when he calls the number they stay that they have the correct adrress...so my question is what should we do from here? I'm worried that it got lost in the mail or something...should he call and see if he can have another card issued or is that even possible? Any suggestions? thanks
