Elena went to DHL to get the return envelope as required by the embassy before the interview. She is coming here with her two sons. One is 20 the other is 6. DHL informed her and made her pay for three packages. One for each visa application. Does this sound right to anybody? Since this is all one family I would have thought that only one package would be required. Two at the most if a separate one for the 20 year old. But the 6 year old is in his mothers passport.
Any information would be helpful.
I told her to check with the embassy tomorrow and if only one is required she should return to DHL for a refund of the other two.
Thanks

Many Congratulations! I am happy for you!
My Elena has just finished her medical today and the interview is Friday. I hope everything goes well for us too.

Well, she boarded the train today for Moscow. Her interview is on the 16th. It seems we are on the final run for the completion of the K-1. I don't imagine I will get much sleep Thursday night as I await the news from the interview

Wondering if anyone has had an interview in Moscow lately and knows the cost of DHL from the Embassy to Yoshkar-Ola. Cheboksary or Kazan prices would give me a good idea too.
Thanks

oh my. I got 2 round trip tickets, for me and my son, from Wichita to Hong Kong for $1857 in march. Check United if they fly there.

Hi All,
I am looking for people who have married and Russian woman and used the apartments of Moscow Rick and http://www.enjoymoscow.com/. My Elena is going to Moscow in Feb. for her vias interview but she is scared of being ripped off.
It seems all the hotels in our price range are booked up now for the dates we need.
I would like to make contact with a Russian woman who has used the services who would also be willing to phone my lady in Yoshkar-Ola and speak with her concerning it.
Any positive help would be nice.
Thanks

Ok, so now I'm just getting pissed off. Our packet was supposedly sent from the Moscow Embassy on December 18th. But It's a no show. We are assembling all the papers listed on the web site and here without the packet. We even have an appointment date as listed from the webs site. The Embassy has not answered my e-mails and all I want to know is what time the appointment is? Is that too much to ask.
I'm not really looking for answers now. I'm just blowing off steam. I filled out the electronic papers on site for my fiance and all others that I could. Sent them all out last week via DHL ($90.00) she got them today. I am really grateful for this web site and all the help and things I've learned here. Thanks VJ and everyone thats been helpful.

You might want to think about going ahead with the police report even though you don't have the packet. Sometimes they take a while to come through. The rest of the stuff you probably have some time with. Make sure too that you get the right kind of police report. There are two kinds.
Thats good information.
What is the difference between the two and which one should she get?

According to the Moscow Embassy web site. The DS156 must be filled out online and in English using English characters. The instructions we very specific. It did however say that the DS-157k must be filled out in Russian.
When our packet didn't arrive from the embassy I e-mailed them to find out why. The mail is slow in Russia right now because of the holidays. But they went on to tell me that all the instructions and papers are on the web site and to follow those instructions.
So which is is guys?
Here is the text from the embassy web site:

Hi all
This is my first time posting.
My fiancee's interview is on Feb 8. The embassy got her info on Dec 8, or so. She hasn't
recieved anything from the embassy yet. Is this normal?? There is just over 1 month
till her intreview, so I think something is wrong but wanted to check with you guys here
first.
thanks
-Scott
I'm in the same situation Scott. The embassy told me the papers were sent to her on the 18th of December but she hasn't received them either. Her interview is on the 18th of February. She called the post office and they told her the holiday mail is really slow right now. The good news is that you can go to the embassy web site and all of the information is there. Forms she needs and police reports, medical exam locations and phone numbers. I filled out the DS 156 myself on line and am probably going to DHL everything this week that is need from my side. But my lady wants to wait for the papers to arrive before she works on her side and were kinda fighting about it. Anyway, go check out the embassy and get started without the packet.
Regards,
John

Our papers were mailed from the embassy in Moscow on the 18th of December but she has not yet received them due to all the holiday mail. Kind of pisses me off.
But I know we don't really have to have them to get things started.
I am looking for information concerning her obtaining the police reports for her and her 19 year old son. What are the procedures and how does she get this police report.
She also has a 6 year old son. Does she need to get a police report for him? I thought I read somewhere that it was required only for persons over 16 years old. But I can't find that information again.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Are the interview dates listed on the Embassy's website for certain?
My case was forwarded to the Embassy a couple weeks ago and today they posted our interview date.
Will this be the same date that will be mailed to my fiance after they receive our documents?
Thanks for your help!
d
Please update your time lines. I too am in the Russian Embassy and it would be nice to follow your progression.

Paul,
Look for a round-trip ticket rather than one-way. Taht should ease the pain.
Good luck!
If you read the post you will notice I said I adjusted the stay time. Thinking about it this would imply that I am talking about a round trip ticket which I am... So yes I am familar with the fact that one ways are more expensive than round trip but thanks for trying to help anyway.
Try this guy, He is a broker that specializes in discount fares. He got me a great round trip fare last year
