Actually, the “why” is incredibly relevant now.  I respect if you don’t want to disclose on VisaJourney, but you’ll definitely need to provide the reason to your attorney (please don’t attempt this on your own).

I’m not sure what other advice anyone can give you here, with the limited info you did provide, aside from to seek legal counsel immediately.

No point in questioning semantics as this happens frequently.

We get that you’re upset, but everyone has been through ups and downs with USCIS in our journeys to reunite with loved ones.

The best thing you can can do is focus on the positive:  they kept his passport, which is a very good sign that AP isn’t expected to be overly long.  I would suggest allowing 10 business days to lapse, and if no update, send an email.

I was approved on the spot, and told I would have visa in hand 7 days later.  I didn’t.  It still was in process, so I emailed the embassy, and later that day it was issued and mailed back to me.

At the end of the day, they system is run by humans and errors and oversights occur.  It sounds like the CO perhaps didn’t realize he would need your fiance’s CV to get final sign off.

Try not to worry too much during the process as it will drive you bananas.

My wife took her naturalization test yesterday morning...December 8. She passed her test and was given the option to participate in the oath ceremony later in the afternoon. She is officially an American citizen! It was exciting day even though no family members were allowed to witness the oath ceremony. We sincerely thank all forum members for their advice and support during this journey! We wish all those still waiting the best of luck!
    Respectfully,

    Update:
We received an RFE and so I finally put together the response packet. I mailed it yesterday via USPS Express and got delivery confirmation this morning.

To my UPMOST surprise, moments ago, I got an email notification that the case was updated. Went online to USCIS case status and sure enough the case was updated to reflect, "Response To USCIS' Request For Evidence Was Received".

Given all the backlog, I wasn't expecting a same-day as packet received case status update but I sure am glad! [Crossing our fingers now for an approval!]

Seriously?   What a way to start a relationship with the mother of your fiance/spouse!!!!  Any joint sponsor should be aware of everything involved in their obligations as well as the situation..

Had a combo interview on this week. My i751/ N400 was approved and i had Oath same day. Officer was very professional. He told me that he has never seen people from my country before here in USCIS. Well, in Iceland it is only 350000 people, so that is very likely. Lol ok, i am finally DONE. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!
    Roc - 21,5 months.
    N400 - almost 10 months.

choose the outside normal processing.  They usually estimate 1-2 weeks for an update, but at least it means someone will look into it.

You’re likely to get a canned response, but it’s worth a shot.

I take back my fire and brimstone. We were approved this morning and status changed to New Card is Being Produced, WAC case number. Good luck to everyone else in their journey, trust there will be light at the end of the tunnel! 🙏

I had my interview this morning (it was a combined 751/400).

The 751 one part started okay.  He asked basic questions of me and of my husband to confirm the info on our application.  Then he was like “let’s see your updated documents”.  Cool.  I handed him updated banking statements for checking, saving, and a credit card.  He went through each one and made sure all the months were there.

I showed the originals for our car titles.  I have updated car and health insurance documents.

And I gave an updated IRS tax transcript and certified copy of the state return.  I did NOT have the most recent ones (2019) because I thought I could obtain both federal and state through online portals.  I was wrong, and while I did send paper requests, I didn’t receive them back in time.  He did NOT like this, and it was an uncomfortable 2 minutes while I was shaking and holding back tears and my husband was rubbing my leg trying to soothe me.  So my advice, if you don’t have the official documents, bring something, anything, that shows you filed. I’m so mad at myself for not even printing out the return and w2’s.

Anyway, after that, it was a few more questions about why we don’t have utility bills together (I mean, I cannot get Verizon or the electric company to add a second name), about trips out of the country, and our family visiting schedule, and then that was that.

At the end he approved the filing, so I’m chalking his attitude up to the fact that that’s his job is to press and see how people react.

Also got approved for my n400, and due to covid, they did a same day oath ceremony.  Told me it would be “30 minutes” and it was 3 hours, but hey, I’M DONE!!

My interview was this morning at 7:45.  VERY quick (less than 10 minutes for the n400 part).  Then told they do same day oaths because of covid so we (it was a 751/400 combo) would need to go sit in the lobby, and that it would take “about 30 minutes”.  So, 3 hours later the supervisor finally came down, and just did a group oath with the 6 or 7 of us who were waiting.
