You need a ROE for this too don't you?
-
My mom is really getting on my back about this.
I know within Manitoba at least, if you aaply, you can get a 3-month out of province coverage when you move for healthcare, although it doesn't really cover that much.
I have NO idea where to look in the US as far as health plans go. Rob isn't working right now, so neither of us would have any coverage.
Can anyone suggest a kinad cheap insurance provider that can cover us til we get a job?
Orrr would a few months of travel insurance work as a temporary fix?
-
I read the EI post up above there, but the old forum says its offline and I can't access it. Done some reading online too.
Can someone just.. clarify the process for me? I had no idea I could even think about applying for EI when I move.
I'm done work on the 15th of December, moving sometime in January is my best guess.

Yeah I'd bet a large percentage of americans don't know the answers to a majority of that...

Mine got sent to junk mail in hotmail--which is ok because I can still find them in there.

My Great Dane puppy was born last week actually lol.
Bit of a dillemma, the dog we wanted might be deaf, so right now we're holding on to two of them; if the female isn't deaf, we will take her. If she is, we take a little male. I'm good with dogs, but I don't think I have the experience to train a deaf dog unfortunately
So name wise, if it's a:
Female = Cheza
Male = Yasha

I can't stand having wet hair on my neck after getting out of the shower

My mom's advice to me was "try before you buy."
I was one of those "ooooh so bad kids" who was sexually active from a young age. I'm 22 now. No unplanned pregnancies, no STDs., 6 years of birthcontrol.
Trust me, they're gonna do it anyway, and nothing you can say will ever stop them if they want to. Instead of going around saying "sex before marriage is wrong" ( I agree, what century are you from?) my mom allowed herself to be someone I could ask questions and get the best advice possible from, and didn't have to sneak around.
Neither she nor I regret any of those decisions. I think she is a fantastic parent.

That's what Rob and I will be doing.
We want a big wedding later on down the road

Hahaha..
It's been snowing here for two days straight and the city just keeps on functioning.
Living in Canada makes you prepared for the worst
-
Yeah I always thought it was a little odd that although each major city has a consulate, they basically do nothing except provide support to Americans in distress. Not that it's a bad thing, I just theink they could maybe do a little more to help out
-
Sorry this kind of makes me laugh.
It isn't like it's a hard thing to do or takes days and days to gather paperwork for...
It would be worth it even if it was just "suggested".
Also, it's in the instructions for the 129F, and the guides here on VJ.
Good luck

I was one of those.
Got a touch the day my cheque was cashed, and a touch the day after NOA2 when my petition was presumably sent to NVC.
On the other hand, some people get dozens. They really aren't that important.

From the Vancouver Consulate website:K3 Visas
To qualify for a K3 visa, the alien must be married to a U.S. Citizen who has filed an I-130 petition for an immigrant visa (IR1) on behalf of the alien. The U.S. Citizen spouse must also file an I-129F petition with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) to initiate overseas processing of a K3. The I-129F must be filed in the United States. Download the I-129F and obtain mailing addresses. Information on who qualifies for K3/K4 processing.
K3 visas must be issued in the country where the marriage took place, if the marriage occurred outside of the United States. If married in the U.S., the alien spouse must apply in his/her country of nationality or permanent residence. Unmarried children (under 21 years of age) of qualified K3 applicants, qualify for K4 issuance. The U.S. Consulate cannot answer questions regarding the K3/K4 visa process. All required information is available at the websites listed above. When the Consulate receives an approved K petition, we will contact the applicant via mail with instructions on how to proceed.
Do not come to the office, please follow the instructions mailed to you. Case specific questions must be directed to vancouverK@state.gov.
Immigrant Visas
The U.S. Consulate in Vancouver no longer processes immigrant visa cases. All immigrant visa cases in Canada are handled by the U.S. Consulate in Montreal. If an immigrant visa application has been filed on your behalf and you have a specific inquiry, please call the National Visa Center at area code (603) 334-0700. We regret that the Consulate does not have the resources to accept inquiries on immigrant visa matters. If you are seeking general information regarding the immigrant visa process, you may phone the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) from within the United States at their toll free number by calling 1 (800) 375-5283. Or, if you wish to address your questions to our visa information 900 number, from within Canada, please dial 1 (900) 451-2778. From within the United States, the number is 1 (900) 443-3131 (per minute toll charges.)

I always took it to mean that only Montreal does K-3s. I'd do some phone calling to verify things.
Aha, that's where I remember reading it from.
Yeah, wherever there's information as conflicting as this I think you would be best off to call

I just sent in packet 3 yesterday. Emailed them today asking if they got it and whether my requested date was open.. haven't heard back yet though.
I'm already getting nervous
-
I stand corrected.
What am I thinking about then...
DCF maybe?
-
Yeah I realize how fortunate I am being able to go through Vancouver. I couldn't imagine having to wait in Montreal
-
Whoa I'm late on this one.
Congratulations!
-
EDIT: WAIT, WHOA. I just realized you are going for a K3. I believe Montreal is the only embassy that does K3s in Canada. If that's the case, no transferring for you! Sorry Charlie!
Good catch Cass, I didn't notice that either.
I believe she is correct about that unfortunately.
-
Yeah excuse my vulgarity but I woulda been right F##### if I hadn't found this site
-
People who have waited longer generally get more "congrats" than others as well.
For example the one member who just got approved after something like 370 days.
I agree with the recognition factor as well
-
I'm not a transferee.. but if I recall correctly, you have to have an address in the Vancouver coverage area in order to transfer.
Whether it's your address or not... I would think it would have to at least be family. Basically, somewhere you could feasably be living.

Rob's looking for a place now. If he can't find something suitable we will stay at his parents til we can.
The address on all the forms is theirs anyway, I think we'll just keep having the mail sent to them regardless to avoid any confusion with address changes.
