The visas do work.  My wife joined me in New York last night.  POE was easy.  They asked her a couple of questions.  Where is your husband?  She said outside waiting for me.   She said he was joking but he did ask her if she had another husband in Vietnam.  
So all, please be prepared for a couple of questions from the immigration people.   Otherwise, entry was no problem.  

I am now experiencing what we are all here for:   My wife has started the long 20 hour journey to the United States with her visa affixed to her passport and sealed brown envelope in hand.
She has completed her first flight and is about to board the second flight which is about 16 hours long.  POE should be in about 17 hours.   I have taken these long flights alone many times.  Going to visit her was always very happy.  The return flight back to the U.S. alone was long and sad.   After today we no longer have to travel alone.   She texted me before after her first flight, "we are a team".

Keep calling because I think it's more I'm taking at least 500$ Just to be safe 

The medical are walk ins for both the places I called which are Consultorious De Visa and Servicios Medicos Consulares, they rushed me off the phone too but that a little more just in case on the websites they should have the prices I believe and don't forget to schedule her fingerprint appointment too 

My interview date is August 22nd! Just called NVC. @Mun95 they said I should get the letter by next week, so you will probably get yours next week also. Goodluck to the ones that haven't been scheduled yet, it's coming.

Wow NVC is getting faster. I was told I would receive my p4 next week and I got it today.

Received my P4 this morning, at like 2:30am lol. My interview is August 30
