We have very similar timelines, PD is a month behind yours. I singed up for this facebook group for Texas AOS filers https://www.facebook.com/groups/1217794938343963/?ref=bookmarks. Just saw today, someone with K-1 from Dallas with PD in July 2017 got their interview notice today. Dallas is moving. You should expect yours any day now.

Thank you for the news. What can you tell me about the Facebook Group? I don't see much content on there

  2. Hello,

I filed our AOS for my wife with a K-1 entry and it was received June 12 of 2017. We got a NOA1

We got the EAD in 5 months but nothing so far with the AOS.

When I look at the VJ timeline, it still seems far less than a year just for an interview.

The status on USCIS website says, "At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information for your case. Please contact the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283 for additional information"

It has said this for several months now where before it just said the application was received in June.

When we call, they just say everything is fine and we need to wait.

It feels like they lost our (removed). Has anyone else experienced this status and long wait time?

Maybe I should try for an InfoPass appointment?

This is not true. The spouse changing their last name can choose what they want their last name to be. It really doesn't matter what it is. I was able to choose my husband's first name as my last name when I applied for the marriage license. It was no issue at all.

And OP, you should use her married name now. Whatever you put down on your marriage license to be her new legal name. Just make sure to include her maiden name on the application where it says other names used.

Whatever you put down on your marriage license to be her new legal name

A marriage license may not have the new married name. Some states put the old name. Not desired new name.

  4. Not sure if this old post will get a response. Having investigated this same issue over and over again everywhere, the information is still conflicting. But in this thread, the last two posts seemed to have summed it up best for me....

So, given the last two responses I want to ask this....So then if my wife wanted to be called Mickey Mouse...I could put that on the i-485? Sure it could be rejected for foolishness, but let's forget about that. Sounds like I put whatever name I want regardless of all past legal documented names.

  5. to think that filing the K1 application to the USCIS was the easy part. It's very straight forward, you get a list of things you need and you send it to one place. Everything you need to do in the Fiances country is confusing as edited out by VJ Moderation. I think we understand most of what we need but I have some questions.

These are really directed at fellow Russian K1 filers since some of this can be different from one country to the next

    1. I understand the interview and Dr. Appointment must take place in Moscow. There is information on the Moscow embassy page suggesting we set up an appointment about 2 weeks before the interview. I'm assuming they mean setting up the appointment, not have the appointment 2 weeks ahead of the interview?

    https://moscow.usembassy.gov/iv-medinfo.html

Ambiguity is the highest skill of our government.

    2. As a follow up question, it says the result will not be available for about 5 business days. Are we required to have the results in hand before the interview or can she go the Dr. Appointment, then the interview the next day? Then leave. The results are then sent to the consulate and they will approve it a few days later? Or does my fiance actually have to loiter around Moscow for 5 days waiting for the results, then go to the interview? which sounds stupid...

I've read some people go to the interview, pass the interview and are approved immediately. Does this mean they already had an approved Dr. visit? so they had to have at least 5 business days of separation?!

    3. Good god, where do I pay for the FEE for the DS-160 application!?

Can I pay for it online somewhere, through MY bank or she must pay it at her local bank only?

Are there any other stupid roadblocks I should be aware of?

  6. so as other people have reported before, I just lost my job of 7 years on Wednesday.

However, Two days before I was let go, I got an employment letter with all the required information. Plus I'm getting severance through the beginning of January, I can show 300K dollars in assets and real estate value.

Should I turn in my sponsor form as if I'm still employed? Do they call employers and check?

I don't want to ask my parents to sponsor. They are retired.

The interview is in Moscow. We haven't set it up yet but I assume it will be later this month or December.

  7. Thank you for your reply. Yes I know about the K2s but my question is more about the interview and processing fee. Since she is American, she should not have to be present at the interview, nor should I have to pay a processing fee for her. But she is listed under the fees section anyway. I'm thinking this is a mistake. I could be jumping the gun here and I may not get charged for her but I found it unusual that she was on the fees page.

  8. When I filled out the K1 application, i put down my fiances daughter who was born in the US. She has a SSN and American Passport. Her mother is Russian.

My case has moved on to the NVC phase. When I looked at the Processing fees, her daughters name is on there for me to select. I can't select and therefore pay them yet, I guess it's too early to do so? They just received the paperwork today.

Anyway, would her daughter need to go to the interview? I understand K-2 applicants need to go but I did not file a K2 since she is american, She is 6 years old. My fiance had her in the US obviously.

I didn't think I needed to fill out the K2 nor would I have to send the daughter to Moscow as part of the interview.

  9. It looks like I'm way behind on joining this thread. I filed Sept. 12 and Got my NOA2 on Oct 18. I'm waiting for my NVC notification.

I'm curious why I didn't get a phone message on NOA2 when I got one for NOA1. I'm thinking I wont get one from the NVC either.

I hope I don't get just an email from them and it ends up in my spam folder.

I'm still a little confused on what I should be doing proactively now waiting for the NVC. I guess pay some fees and start preparing financial documents. Some of which I can't do until I get my case number....still waiting.
