  1. I just received my 2-year conditional green card. All the docs (passport, green card, SSN card, driving license) are under my maiden name. We wanted to change my name after we were married but do not want any complications due to that, thus we file everything with my maiden name.

Now both my husband and I want to change my name but we are not sure how it will impact the lifting of condition in 2 years time. This is our plan:

    1. Go to court and get my name changed

    2. Get my name changed for my SSN card, driving license, etc

    3. File for removing of condition with my new name

    Any advise would be appreciated.

    Thanks

u don't have to go to court or anything to change ur name

my wife she had to change her name to mine.

all who's u need ur marriage certificate. just bring ur marriage certificate to driver license agence and show them ur marriage certificate and they will change it for u and same for ssc

    i hope if that help.

The lady told me, the maximum time to receive probably would be 3 weeks. She even asked me if i wanted to be in my married surname as it is in my EAD card, and i said yes!!I am getting so bored of waiting...i really wanna start applying for a job..NOW!!lol

My fellow vj family, what could be the reason of the delay?hayyyy...

    Mrs. Sally Simpson

    hello

it's same problem happened to me . when i applied for SSC . they say i should receive it in next 2 weeks . and it has been over month and still didn't receive it. i have been go every week and they say still in process . and in 1 day , one lady she was kind and she check about it . and then she found it lost there. and then she told me she will send it to me to home . and in next day i receive it.

my advice is go every week and tell them to look for ur ssc.

  6. SS didn't issue my wife a SSN because they said we never went to the USCIS office in Seattle to 'Change' her status after we married. Though, I already filed the I-485 and my wife's biometric appt. is tomorrow...Are we suppose to go to the office and 'Change' our status before we file the I-485? SS also said we needed to get a new I-94 from immigration before she could issue us a card, supposedly that's the purpose of 'Changing' status.

    no , SSA RIGHT

u must to have EAD card or stamp in your passport for they can issue to u your SSN . doesn't matter u r got married or not.

if u have EAD card or stamp in your passport be sure they will issue to you your SSN.

  7. HI to everybody!

i will share my story and i need everyone opinion and advices

i applied AOS in local office in Oklahoma city on program( D.O.R.A).

I had my interview done at same day and i approved .

i had wait 1 month and i didn't received anything .i made infopass to local office and they give us my receipt number MSC.....

and when i went to home i checked online i found that message:

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice returned as undeliverable.

On March 12, 2007, the post office returned our last written notice on this case as undeliverable. This can have serious effects on the processing of this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update the mailing address so this notice can be re-sent.

i called this number several times and they said they did service request and must wait 30 to 45 for send me it back . i had wait 1 month and i called again and they said they will do anther service request and must i wait 30 days again. i get upset and i made infopass to local office . we found one woman very kind . she checked and she found same message . and she said me wait ,and she went to check intoside and she comes back and told me my case was almost will denied and she gave me that letter which was returned as undeliverable and it was my biometric . and she said me must i come on Wednesday for do my fingerprint. i went on Wednesday to local office and my allthing was good and my fingerprint done. i was very lucky to made infopass to local office .before my case denied.

i checked online about my case i found it touched but still same message .... ??????????????

    did anyone know about that??????????????/

    thanks.

  8. We had several NOA's and other things returned to USCIS as undeliverable even though we had our names on the inside of the mailbox.

We made an infopass appointment and the woman was so nice that she had Missouri fax everything we were missing and also had them re send it to us and it arrived about 3 days later.

    Good luck!

    thank u sara and hicham

i made infopass on next Friday and i will see what they will tell me.

    thanks.

  9. Forget calling the 0800 as it is a waste of time..... make an infopass appointment at your local office and request that the returned mail be resent.... they may be able to tell you what the mail was....

As others have said make sure your names are on your mailbox inside or out as long as it can be seen by your mail person....

    Kez

    thank u

just i called again now and they said they don't know what that letter was because my papers in national benefits center.

i have appointment in local office on Friday and i will see what they will tell.

    thanks.

  10. Speak with your mail carrier in person and explain your situation. Be polite and courteous. Do the same with your post master. They will tell you exactly what you need to do. I had one returned early on due to my box being full ( I was away for a week).

So I'm wondering, when you say you have your name in your mailbox, what exactly does that mean? Do you like fill out a little card that has your name on it and just leave it sitting inside there? Or tape it to the side on the inside? Or what?

Put the name outside on the mailbox.

    hi

i had put my name outside mailbox and into side . the problem is to late now.because the post office returned my letter back to USCIS .

  11. Maybe you need to make an infopass appointment so you can ask about your case. It depends on what the problem is though to be able to tell if they can help you at an infopass appointment. For my husband, infopass appointments have worked great rather than emailing or calling.

    Sarah

    thanks
