Hi, all,

I got my first Request for Evidence notification through email today. I'm sort of a bit surprised as I basically sent them an entire folder full of documentation and was pretty sure I'd covered all the bases, but these things happen.

I know that I've got to wait until the letter comes through to see exactly what it is, but I was wondering whether my trip to Niagara Falls last weekend might have had something to do with it. We popped across the border for an hour (walked across the Rainbow Bridge, walked halfway to the Horseshoe Falls and back again as it was so cold) and came back to the US to a bit of a strange line of questioning. I was asked whether I'd ever been arrested before or ever had my fingerprints taken except for immigration purposes (I hadn't), had to wait until he checked a bunch of things and then been asked for a fingerprint and retina scan. A little odd as I'd never had anything like that before and I've travelled to Canada multiple times, but I put it down to something akin to a random screening and to the fact I had applied for citizenship earlier that month.

Is it possible that something related to this could have been the source of the RFE? Just curious. I guess I'll know soon enough....

Mine hasn't changed yet, i get an email and text before i get the letter, and i havent received either. I also think they do the status change like right before they send the letter, and it takes about a month (from what i have seen when i looked at other people) to get your interview letter (thats what you mean right?). So you should get yours soon.

I have a question my fingerprint appointment is on 04/01/10, can I go before on that day? I think I will go on Wednesday (02/17/10) because it said, PLEASE APPEAR AT THE BELOW APPLICATION SUPPORT CENTER AT THE APPOINTED DATE AND TIME TO HAVE YOUR FINGERPRINTS TAKEN. If you are uncable to appear at this time, you may go on any FOLLOWING Wednesday at the same time noted below.

This could be a stupid question.

I am scheduled for an interview on April 12. And today I received the yellow letter from USCIS telling me that "You indicated in your application that you have been arrested. For these arrests and any other incidents in which you may have been involved, bring originals or certified copies of all arrest records and court dispositions showing how each incident was resolved"

The thing is, I have never been arrested. I had a parking ticket and a speeding ticket. And somewhere on this board, I read that I need to report those on N400 forms. So I don't have any arrest records. I can find the print outs of the checks that I used to pay for both tickets, but I could not find the original copy of these tickets. What's the best way to resolve this situation?

Besides, I thought you don't need to include any evidence for fines lower than 500 dollars. I indicated both cases that the fines were below 500 dollars.

I received the same letter today ( yellow letter ) and it said same thing as yours ,and me too i disclosed the 2 speeding ticket i got on the form . but i do have a copy of originals ticket and proof that i paid them .

I have asked a similar type question before but we are still unclear.. My Fiance (F-1 student) soon to be spouse as of March 14th, 2010 are having trouble with getting information about changing her name after we get married next Sunday (March 14th).

1.) After we are married, can we go directly to the SSN office and get her name changed? She does not have a SSN, however she does have a passport, visa, Marriage Certificate (after Sunday) and Drivers License, I-20, etc etc....

2.) Also, what do we need to get her Driver's License name changed at the DMV? Same Documents as above or do they require a SSN?

3.) Can she only obtain a SSN when filing the EAD portion of the AOS Packet? Or Will she get another type of SS card when she changes her name?

She can't get a SSN untill she get her residence approval ( Green Card).

I think that is correct, at least that is the same letter I got.

Somehow I was under the impression that it was in the NOA that you also would get your appointment date and time for the biometrics.

Maybe someone who received their fingerprint appointment already could tell us how long it usually takes between receiving the NOA and receiving the appointment letter ? It would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All- I was wondering if I am eligible from a time perspective to submit N-400 for naturalization.

Residence Since in Green card :- 5/10/2007

First Year :- 5/10/2008

Second Year :- 5/10/2009

Third Year and eligibility :- 5/10/2010

Application can be submitted (90 days prior):- 2/9/2010

Can I submit the N-400 any time from now? Is it wise to wait one or two?

I was a little nervous about the whole situation, especially since we have to move too, and i wanted to wait a couple of weeks and send the package with the new address.

if you move to anther state , you will have to wait 3 months before you can file you papers. you have to wait 3 months for you can be elegible for continues risidents.

So, I guess when we get the RFE letter in the mail and it doesn't specifically say it's a request for fingerprints, we'll drive on down for an Infopass and try to do the walk-in fingerprints at the same time. Good idear!

Don't worry it's just a biometric , most people got one and me sent my application this month too and i got email RFE. But it turn out the biometric letter as i thought before.

How do you receive a txt msg and an email. According to tracking number by USPS express, delivery was signed on Feb 11th to Lewisville TX. But no txt or email. Does this need to be specified somewhere ? How can I check what's going on. I had sent money order instead, so no check cashing confirmation either.

I don't know if you can do that before you receive your NOA . anyway when you will receive your NOA , you will go to www.uscis.gov and then click on Sign-up for Case Updates . and then you have to register you receipt number and then you can choose to receive the updates by email and sms text .

Honestly I don't think you can (at the interview that is, later I know you can). BUT it certainly can't hurt to ask.

Once you have your greencard you can apply to get a new card with the married name but it costs $300 so I would definitely ask just to be sure.

I would also, personally, complete the application forms again with your new information and take them with you to the interview. That way you simply need to hand them over if they permit it. The problem is everything in the system is already in your maiden name so they might baulk at the idea but with completed forms in the new name, what excuse do they really have? It might make your interview take a little longer while they make sure that everything else on the form is the same as the originally submitted ones.

The OTHER issue is the I-864 has your maiden name on it and might need to be updated as well... You wouldn't think that's really an issue, but they might suggest it. Just an FYI. But as I said before, can't hurt to ask

In the interview she can ask about changing her name without any problem. only one thing if her local office they do Aoth cermoney same day , she will not be able to take the oath untill the judge decide.

I am ready to send my N-400 Application based on 5 year Permanent Resident. I have a very dumb question regarding Application. Its Question # 8.

To recap.

I was married once before and now Divorced. My Ex-wife was also married once before she married me. I am now single. In Part 8G are they referring to my ex-wife's previous marriage? Also all the questions from 8B thru 8E do not apply to me right? Is there anywhere I do have to put her previous marriage info.

Also I got a traffic speeding ticket, I paid the fine which was $185.00 I did mention that on my app on Part 10 Question D 15. Is that the right place to put traffic violation.

I am sending following Docs:

Check for $675

Copy of GC.

Copy of Driver License.

Copy of Divorce Decree.

2 photos with my name and A# on the back.

Copy of my traffic ticket.

Am I missing something? Please any help will be greatly appreciated.

You have to include 5 years tax return forms.

Hello everybody, Just want ask for some info here for my friend.

She's been here in the US for almost 12 years, and she was married for 5 years. Her husband died last year March 2009. She got her greencard last December 2005. Can she apply for citizenship now? She doesn't have kids, she just had her own house.

I called 1800.... number and they couldn't find anything too with my receipt number. and then they transfer me to immigration officer . they enter my receipt and it works for them and they could find me in system and they told me they were working to shedule my fingerprint today. and then when i tried to ask why i couldn't check it online .the call end up.
