  1. Hi all,

Been away long from the forum and I just wanna share with you all my experience of GC application. My NOA is April 19, 2006 (Yep, more than a year but still no GC yet). I've done my fingerprint twice, once in May '06 and once in Sept '06. End of Sept, got a letter they moved my case to CSC. Great, I thought I will got my GC soon after that.

We moved on Feb, from MA to RI, so I applied change of adress form online. At the same month, I got another letter for fingerprint appointment. Woo hoo... third one, I think I beat everybody record in doing fingerprints (yeah, right!).

Anyway, I thought something's wrong, I made an infopass meeting, explain the situation (I've done twice fingerprint) but my mistake is I DIDN'T tell the officer that my case is moved to CSC. So, she said nothing's wrong with my record, I don't have to go for the third fingerprint. She's gonna write to the other office and try to find out what's going on and I just have to wait for the update.

Another three months... I still haven't heard anything, so I make another infopass appointment. Met with the same lady, I asked her what's going on with my case, this time I mentioned my case is moved to CSC. She checked the record in CSC area (I guess, because I couldn't see what's she's doing in her computer) and said my both of fingerprints were rejected! That's why my case is on hold for months... gosh... Everything else is okay.

She told me to get police records from every city I've been and send them all to CSC, hopefully after that there's a progress on my case.

    Now that's what I'm doing....

Did you get RFE's For each of those fingerprints???

  2. Thanks! I hope to hear soon!

    Anynews for anyone else?

I have mailed my AOS application on March 6th..It was received on March 8th. My check was cashed on the 15th...just yesterday i received my NOA. I have question in regards to Biometrics. It says that we need to bring the NOA and ID (Passport). However the name on the NOA is the married name; and on the passport it is on the maiden name..Will it sufficient??

  3. We had no problems at DMV. However, we got an ID first (because he didn't know about the regulations for driving at the time) and went back later for his DL, using his Texas ID instead of his I-94. There is nothing on the Texas DMV website that says the I-94 has to be good for a year. However, nothing on the website that someone with a K-1 visa has was listed as acceptable proof either. There is a stipulation on there that says "or other forms of ID that are up to the discretion of the office." I would try either A. going and getting an ID first, or B. just trying at a different office and see if they have a different set of procedures. Also, look at the TXDPS website for the list of acceptable forms of ID.

Just so you know, a person DOES need a SSN for a license, so you'll have to be able to provide them with proof of the actual number. Not sure if it's the same for a permit.

I also Live in San Antonio...When you went for your ID, did you use the passport and I-94??

  4. My fiancee and i got married, two weeks ago. We got our marriage license last week. We try to get her a texas Drivers learning permit. When we went to the DMV. The lady said that she is not eligible on the basis that the I-94 must be valid for a year. Since her I-94 is valid for 90 days, we must wait for her to get a green card before she can even apply for license. Is that true?? or is there a way we can go around this?? We applied for her SSN, it went well.

  6. After a long wait, my fiancee has finally arrived in SFO....She says that it was very easy. Tomorrow she is catching the domestic flight to come to me. First of all, We are planning having the registered marriage within her first week including the civil ceremony. My questions to you are: 1.) Should i wait for applying the SSN until after the civil ceremony since it is only a week away?? 2.) what forms are needed for when to apply for a driver's license?

  7. Hello...

i have looked at the identification requirements. under the category of primary identification, it says foreign passport with I-94. The secondary documents probably do not apply. The supporting documents that can be used would be Social Security card, and Marriage License. I was under the assumption that the passport is enough..Is that true??

My fiance is coming on monday under a K1 visa. how do we apply for SSN??

  8. Did you pay your own way through grad school? Ed is still in school, he won't finish until 2010, but he is over the poverty line with his fellowship money and so has evidence of income for the last year or so. I'm not too sure how grad school works in this country, but I was under the impression that quite often the school puts you through.

Actually i was in Medical School. While i was in medical school, i did not have fellowship money. For the last 5 years, I was actualy on a loan. I have applied for residency this year. I am going to be accepted in March. my salary would be enough to put me over limit.
