I am a UK citizen, married to an American. I went through the K1 Visa process and obtained my conditional 2-year green card in January of this year. My question isn't about my status as an American, but rather for my wife. Does anyone have any information on how we go about getting her an English passport? Both of us want dual citizenship.

We are in the same situation as you - I will hold dual citizenship as do our children but unfortunately, our understanding of the situation is that my husband cannot become a UK citizen unless we return to the UK and he goes through a similar residency period and we show intent to stay and settle in the UK - there is no automatic citizenship just because you are married We have not looked into any further than that - maybe someone else will be able to tell you more.) We have two children - one was born in the UK so is automatically a UK citizen through me - our son was born here - and we had to register him with the British embassy in Washington DC , they thne issue a Birth Cert. and he can go on and get his passport with that Sorry not to be more help but we hit a brick wall with exactly the same issue!!
