Sudhir - Same here. Well, It has been over two years now. We got engaged in May 2004 and then we got married in October 2004 ( there goes the secret i was gonna tell you KP) but since those idiots wouldn't register my marriage in India I wasn't able to apply for K-3 or CR-1.. but anyways i m happy hes coming.
AWESOME!!!! Balle! Balle!I think we should have a BIG party in Atlanta around thanksgiving...
What say? eh?
KP
Thats wonderful. so, when is she flying now. im sure u can't wait to see her right?

KP- i just spoke to my fiance about it.. he said she needs to have one of the agent involved in this. and then they will make sure that its done before the interview.
I agree with Delhiguy and Timesnap.and If you need anything, you or your wife can always call my fiance since he got his clearance from chandigarh as well. and He is good at arguing with those bast--ds.
Delhiguy is right kpathak.
My husband went to gaziabad passport office and was turned down becuase his pasport was 5 years old and they said they dont have rcords and it will take them a month to conduct new verification. He got hold of an agent yesterday and it took 1500-2000 rupees plus whole day of standing in sun to get it done. The agent got it done..Someone there said that officers at passport office will not even take money directly from applicants for fear of being caught they will only deal with agents ..may be she can contact some agent there to get it done....I hope it gets resolved for you Let me know if you need to talk to my husband ...

KP- you don't submit your passport... they will put some kinda bar on the back of the passport which will allow her to enter the building.
Folks,THe packet 4 checklist has everything which you need to provide to the case officer (and need to submit to the VFS office before the interview). Does that include:
1. Passport
2. Evidence of ongoing relationship
Seems that these 2 items would need to be hand-carried, right? I mean, can you even get inside the embassy for the interview without your passport?
Thanks,
KP

Congratulations !!! 6 months is a long time. I would have gone mad if i haven't had my approval letter in 6 months..... Im glad CSC is getting back on track day by day.
After some ridiculous waiting and transferring and IMBRA business, we were finally approved after nearly 6 months.thanks for the support.

well, If i were you, i would email the embassy itself and ask this question...
someone please hop in !!!!!!!
I have asked this question in another topic, but no one from India answered, and the discussion on that topic has gone to the extent to state that it looks like India consulates dont approve of such cases, which is giving me the jeebees so here goes:My fiancee (USC) is a B-school student and can't show income at all, for previous years either. The option we are going with is taking my uncle (godfather, not really related) as a co-sponsor, he lives far off on the West Coast as compared to my fiancee who lives on East Coast. But he is a respected B-school dean and has ample income as well.
If we show him only as a sponsor would there be issues? Has anyone faced this or gone to the embassy with just a co-sponsor?
I am really getting worreid since someone has mentioned on the other topic that Indian consulates might not sanction such cases, even though we can show anybody else as a co-sponsor, because there have been cases of fraudelent co-sponsors since the I-134 is unenforcable.

Well, whenever I called the NVC .. they told me that they don't hold the K1 petitions there for long. Its like soon they receive it .. they assign a case number and send it to the embassy.
I'm in the same boat. But a bit longer. Approved July 25. 1 month 4 days since approval. WTH is going on at NVC. I tried calling my embassy but they couldnt help me since I dont have the GUZ#. Calling NVC doesnt really help because they will tell me again and again that I should wait 90 days. And if it dont come in 90 days call them again and they will figure out whats going on. Pffft. All I want to know where exactly is my K1. Lost or sitting on some fat slobs desk.. -

my husband and i were just there about a week ago and they are really very very nice, so i am sure you will have no problem!!!! good luck

http://www.***removed***/immigration/birth-certificate.html
well i got a letter from the us consualte that they need my BC. i had explained them before that i cant get it since it was never registered. how can i provide if i dont have one thing. what do you think would they deny my visa for the fault or mistake which was never done by me?
Im sorry to hear of your troubles,
i remember reading somewhere, in the case of no birth certificate, to send in a record of schooling, or enrollment? Sorry I cant be of more help , but might be something for you to look into...
what do you think if i register my birth now and get a certificate?

Timesnap --- the draft would do. my fiance just went to the bank and got a draft for 4800
I am confused about the fees at interview. It looks like only 4800 rupees or $100 in shape of bank draft or USD or traveller's check is required for each applicant. Could anybody please cnfirm. ? I probably need $100 for K3 and $100 fo K4....Right ? -
they put a temp. stamp on the passport which is good for year.. while you are waiting for the GC to arrive in the mail.
Silly question, but being from canada, my wife has never needed a passport to come visit me in michigan. However, is the visa after the interview simply a stamp in your passport, or is it a full blown green card, no passport neccissary? -
There are times you can't get thru the fone... you can email them and ask ... and they do reply back. They do take 2-3 days to reply back... but THEY DO.
How long does it take to receive an e-mail from NVC saying our case was sent to consulate after we are approved?
We were approved on August 12 and my fiance didn't get anything from NVC.
He has been calling NVC every night and it is always busy?
Is this normal? I think it is taking so long!
You don't ever get an e-mail from NVC. They'll only send you a letter after having mailed the case out to the consulate. Like I said before, you have to call NVC and give them your NOA1 date. You can call either early in the morning or late at night so you don't get a busy signal.
Also, it may take some time for the service center to send out cases to NVC and it may take some time for NVC to forward them to the consulates/embassies. I believe the mail things out in batches.
Baruti, You can call the NVC and get the new case number.
Could someone please advise, once the NOA2 is received, will there be any updates to the NOA1 case #? Can we still check the status of the case online? I heard there will be a new case number assigned at NVC. How do we get that number? Thanks in advance!
Monica

Redtapeknot,
Yeah, If you have a photocopy of your NOA'2....That will do. Well, thats what they need. They don't ask you to send the original anyways. unless It is needed.
I'm in a situation similar to this -- my fiance *swears* they took his NOA2 off him at the embassy (London), even though I've never heard of such a thing happening. We have submitted a photocopy of the NOA2 -- is there any posibility that, if it's required for the interveiw, a photocopy would be acceptable? -
YEAH I USED TO SAMETHING AS MELO DOES.... WRITE MY NVC CASE NUMBER AS A SUBJECT... SO THEY KNOW WHAT CASE THEY NEED TO WORK ON..... GOOD LUCK CHRISTINA... HOPEFULLY, EVERYTHING WORKS OUT
New Delhi is different -- if you send them an email with a subject line other than "Request for Specific Information" and you will get a standard "out of office" response stating that all informatin is available on the website and that if you need specific information, then send them an email with the subject line" Rquest for Specific Information".
KP
I always place the NVC case no. as the subject when writing to the Embassy.
I have always got a response from them.

In June 2006
Well, my fiance recently went to the embassy ... and had no problems.
-
Ha ! KP, You always after me, aren't ya?? well, let me clarify something here.... He doesn't have a computer at his place... and he hardly goes to any cafe... the only time he visits cafe when I tell him to. and even he does monitor it.... wouldn't hurt me. cuz i am a straight forward gurl... jo hai woh hai.... jo dil mein hai woh mein bas bol deti hoon. then i don't see who i m talking to. Even his dad agrees with me there.
Delhiguy -- likewise -- I developed a love-handle too and went under some critical scruitiny recently.Regarding the women attacking -- note that this is a forum, I am just anonymous, I ran run AND hide and can use this as an excuse to go hide my head in the wife's "aanchal" crying and complaining about the agressive cruel USC desi women and "honey, that's why I married you" I'll figure some way to turn that attack to my advantage.
Danger? Ha! I laugh in the face of danger (Simba, from Lion King)
This is turning into an off-topic thread. I'll quit :-)
KP
KP,
Worth the try Now I am waiting for those women to pounce on you, to say that ok - so once the woman is won over no mroe gifts and wooing..... Best of luck fighting them off
Actually, between the two visits my fiancee had to India, I had gained some pounds, and guess who is on a strict diet plan now I love my sweets and this yearning for them is killing me, I ahve had to cut down to just eating a few pounds rather than the many pounds I used to gobble down earlier
-
Melo -- When was that????
Well. I had gone to the Embassy with some papers they asked for - they refused to accept them. Said they must be handed over to the VFS. This is my experience... but if what they say on the Embassy site is what you have said, then really I guess it is up to you. I can only tell you what my experience was. -
Chris,
What KP said is correct. You must pay the courier fee at the VFS. But other documents can be presented at the Interview.
Melo -- actually it is "highly recommended" to submit the papers at the VFS office (as per New Delhi website). Check out http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/packet4k3info.htmlI quote "If you wish, you may submit your documents at the Embassy on the day of interview but YOU MUST pay the courier charges at a VFS office before the date of interview. You are strongly urged to submit your documents to a VFS office at the same time you pay the courier fee."
Can't recommend what to do, but here are the facts.
KP
You are required to submit documents to VFS... they will not accept it at the Embassy.

Delhiguy,
Well, If she is a US born, she will not have the naturalization certificate.... in that case, passport copies will do.
But, if she's not.. then yes, they mite ask for the certificate.... To clarify all this mess you can always email the embassy at ivnd@state.gov and they will tell you what is needed and what is not.
In my opinion, it shouldn't be problem as long as she can prove that she is a US citizen.
Good luck on your journey.

Shalz -- can you ask your fiance the name of the agent he used? Also where did he find this agent? My wife was saying that there is a building next to the passport building full of these agents.
KP- I just called my fiance/husband and asked him whether he had used the agent... and HE SAID "NO". but yeah its the building next to the passport office. where she can go and speak to an agent.
Timesnap -- Rs 4K? Wow -- pretty steep for India, eh?
Whoa ! my fiance only spent 300.
