  1. Well, For K-1 Visa, You don't have to wait for an EAD Authorization. You can just go to a SSA office and apply for a SSN.

I've been seeing alot of confused posts lately where people have been saying you need EAD authorization BEFORE you can attempt to apply for a SSN.

I was under the impression (going by a k-1) you go...get married, apply for SSN, recieve, apply for AOS + EAD/+ AP too.

Or am I getting confused with a social security card and a social security number? Can somebody explain to me please?

  2. They do look delicious.

go to this web site www.tarladalal.com and search for ppl's contibuted recipes.. you will find them all.

Where did you get the picture from? let me know that as well... will try to let you know the names of those... one of them looks like "Baklava" but I could be wrong. anyways good luck in finding recipes :P

  3. I don't know If this would help or not.

But When I applied for N-400, got the biometric appointment letter for dated August 26th 2005, and I knew I wasn't gonna be in the country. I had called USCIS and I was told to reschedule by writting them a letter and explaning why wouldn't I be able to go. And, then, I called one of the Immigration lawyer and got the same answer..... After getting all negative answers I thot of asking someone who had filed AOS prior to that date and had gotton a biometric appt letter stating to appear there for fingerprints taken. He said I could just go there and have my fingerprints taken. They don't really care when you go as long as you have the appt letter... So, If I were you... I would just go in there and tell them to take your fingerprints....(It woudn't harm you in anyway), If not, make an infopass appointment and try to get a new appt letter.

Hope It helped a bit. :P

  4. Gurdip,

I would stick with the K-1 rather than going for DCF. Because, You are not even sure about the time frame nor whether they will do the DCF for sure.

I even recommended this to my cousin, who did not listen to me, and now He will have to file K-3, which takes longer than K-1.

Now, you will have to make a choice what you wanna do.

Hopefully u make the right choice and everything goes well for you and your fiancee.

  5. why don't you call them first and ask how much its gonna cost ya !!! cuz some civil surgeon's would just rip-u-off... and i m not joking. I had called few myself..... everyone charges different. The cheapest one i found, would do it in $110.

Good to know that Pras will NOT need a new examination (she had one completed in Dec 2005, and we have an exam appointment for 9/15).

I'm going to print out the page to take with me to the Dr., and then do vaccinations-only.

(dunno exactly how much that will run).

  6. I got the same answer from them...but I was expecting this answer from them, as my fiance, now husband had entered the country on the 2nd of this month. So, It takes them about 10-12 days to input all the information in their systems.....

Yes, they usually say 4-6 weeks just to cover their selves...It normally takes 15-20 business days. One of my family friend had applied for his wife, she got hers in no later than 15 days.

Hi all, my sister went for her husbands SS# today..and they took all info from her and gave her a paper sayng that they will have to verify the info with the USCIS.

and it will take 4-6 weeks..

Is there anything she can do on her part now..go back to SS office and talk to them about how K1 visa holders can get SS# etc..

    Please help
