JFox762 got a reaction from Locito in Recommended documents to bring to I751 Interview?
One of the listed requirements is "Lease or Mortgage contracts showing joint occupancy oof your communal residence"
My house is paid off. The only loan I ever had on this house was a home equity loan that I entered into, two years before my wife arrived (Since paid off) We don't have any joint mortgage/HELOC accounts for the house.

We do have joint bank accounts, I have her as a beneficiary for dental on my employer's dental insurance. She has a separate healthcare plan, but bills to our joint address.

I have several bills that have our mailing address, and she also has paycheck stubs with her mailing address... But recently she stopped working because I got a new job that pays better and overlaps with her previous job's hours (and she needed to be at home to take care of our toddler)
We've also had a kid together, and have birth certificate for the boy.
We have Income Tax returns etc.
We have a lot of photos of us together.
We also may be able to provide medical bills that show us both as parents.

Any other recommendations on what to bring?

Does NVC work around the clock? Or do they only work part of the day?

The reason I want to know, is so I know how often to check the CEAC site. Basically I check it several times a day... and I figure I might just stop checking after a certain time if they close.

Our NVC Documents have been sent to RapidVisa. I went with RapidVisa just because it gives me peace of mind, that whatever gets sent to the government is proof-read.

We are now waiting on what to do next.

JFox762 got a reaction from Cyberfx1024 in Wife's Birth Certificate has a "Red ribbon", cant scan it properly
My wife's Birth Certificate has a "Red Ribbon" on it, and it prevents her from scanning the birth certificate. I have no idea what this ribbon is for. I told her to rip the stupid ribbon off, but she told me she can't do that.

How do I get her birth certificate scanned for the NVC!? The way she sent it, the top left corner is folded over... which I know the NVC won't accept it in such a state.

My wife can go to a "Certifying Acceptance Agent" in Thailand, where they verify her ID on the spot. Then they take the W7 Application and 1040.  It can ONLY be done at "CERTIFYING Acceptance Agents" and not just "Acceptance Agents" . As soon as the tax forms are accepted... I'm sure my wife can get a receipt from their office showing that the tax forms were submitted. So I guess I can include that in with 1040 scanned images, that I submit to the NVC site. That way they know it was submitted to the an overseas Acceptance Agent.

Actually the CPA was not aware of Certifying Acceptance Agents, and also thought my wife would have to fork over her Passport for a while. But I learned (either on here, or through some googling, don''t remember where) about the Certifying Acceptance Agents that allows you to keep your passport. My wife kind of needs that, considering she is as an OFW in Thailand.

Just now while typing this response, I got a call from my Supervisor letting me know I'm good for tomorrow. *YES!!!*  I can go to my CPA tomorrow and get this taken care of.

My employer never told me that they offered health insurance until it was too late in 2017. When I was hired on with them, they didn't tell me about any health plans... or really any benefits that they offered.

I didn't vote for this BS. Why should I be penalized simply because I couldn't afford to throw half my income away on Health Insurance, and don't want to use public benefits?
Besides, I'm willing to pay the stupid fee... but why do they have to make the process to pay the fee so damn complicated!? Why can't they provide AMPLE instructions in the 1040 instructions manual!? It doesn't even give you any guidance on what to do if you just didn't have health insurance and can't file for an exemption. It only instructs you on how to file for a stupid exemption!

JFox762 got a reaction from randomstairs in Question about DACA Amnesty
Ok, I don't want this to devolve into a political debate, because I know darn well there are passionate opinions on all sides.

I am currently petitioning for my wife. I know that with all immigration debate going on in Congress/Senate, that there is a possibility that DACA amnesty/path to citizenship might be on the table. I am not going to say whether I am for, nor against it. My question is, how will this affect those of us who are already petitioning for someone (like Spouses/Fiance, etc)? If millions of people are given amnesty, and path to citizenship... isn't this going involve a sudden rush of Dreamers to submit petitions or waivers or whatever with USCIS? Wouldn't such an amnesty bill create a huge instantaneous increase in the workload for an already strained USCIS... which would result in even longer processing times for the rest of us?

I know this is a very selfish question to ask.... but I just want to know if such an amnesty bill would have any effect on processing times.... because honestly they are already really bad. =(

Ok now I'm going to hide in my bomb shelter, since I know that inspite of my attempts to be as gentle with this topic as I can... I'm sure SOMEONE will hate on me.
