  1. Hi Krschweit!

At the end of my medical exam, the doctor gave me a form entitled "Vaccination Documentation Worksheet" (on it is is indeed written: give copy to applicant). There is my photo on top of the document and it has 2 pages. This is what I sent (at least..a copy!) with my application after getting married. I sent it more than a month ago and still have not received a RFE so I guess it was this document. I would therefore advise your fiancé to contact the doctor's office that he visited for his medical check-up, so they can send him a copy?

  2. Hi everone!

I'm back on this thread after a little while and just caught up the last 15-20 pages of conversation I had missed!!

Congratulations to the few of you who already got married!! <3

I'll be flying to the US in a week, this Friday is my last day of work, and my fiancé just got yesterday the keys of our new apartment!! Hard to believe this is now the time for the big change!! Very excited!

I was checking on the next paperwork and wanted to double check with you:

    - I understood by reading some of you that you can apply for your Social Security card even before getting married? So they just need the K1 visa and I-94 when you go apply for it at the SS office?

    - I plan on taking my fiancé's last name after getting married. So I guess I'll have to fill in all of the next paperwork (I-485, I-131, I-765) with my new name (and the marriage certificate will be a proof of my new name, as the name on my passport will be different) Has anyone already done this?

    - and finally, just to make sure: in order to get married you simply need to: fill in an "application for marriage license" at least 72 hours before the wedding date (can be in a different city than the city where you'll get married). The both of us need to be present to fill in the marriage licence application and simply bring an ID, and the license will be issued on that same day. In case I forgot something don't hesitate to add anything to this ;)

    Thank you!

  3. Hello! For those of you who have gone through the K1 visa process, I received my case # from NVC today (our application shipped out last Tuesday), and when I checked CEAC earlier, it says our case is listed as "Ready." Does that mean the embassy has received it? And is there anything we can or need to do before we receive packet 3 / 4? I've seen in the forums that some of the other countries can book their medical and interview as soon as they get their case #, but I wasn't sure if France allows you to do that or you just have to wait.

    Thanks very much!

    Hello!

Now, you just need to wait to receive the e-mail from the Paris Embassy. Got to be patient for just a few more days and you're almost done :P ! :) In that e-mail they will give you all of the instructions in order to get an appointment and prepare your documents.

  4. Sooooo....I just got off the phone with NVC, and the young man told me my case was in administrative processing. I asked him why and he said that every case that comes through NVC goes through AP. But I'm confused, doesn't that mean they hold your case longer? In which case, everyone's petitions would be held up!

This is what they told me the day I called, but it was sent the day after! :)

  5. HI everyone! I was wondering what the recent wait time between NOA2 and the interview is for the K1 Visa at the Paris embassy? My fiance will most likely be coming to work at the winery I currently work at once he arrives, we get married, and we file for AOS/his work permit is approved (he had come to the US to work at this winery two harvests in a row on a J1 visa-- that's how we met!). My company is hoping to get a rough estimate of what his start date would be. Our NOA1 date is 3/17, so if all goes well, we're hoping to receive an NOA2 by the end of May.

    Merci beaucoup!

    Hi Dhluong !

Between our NOA2 (March 22) and the day when the Consulate in Paris received our documents (April 22), it took 1 month.

Now, I kind of understood that I now have to wait about 10 days to receive my Packet 3, then I should get my interview about a month after that.

If anyone has any more information to share I'd be interested to know too! :)

  6. People like to know it so they can track the progress of their case once again.

Certain countries also need to know this number to book their medical, such as the UK. (Technically not to book...)

If people are trying to shorten the length of time it takes, and this applies to their country, that will be why they are trying to get the number earlier, or to track it.

For some Embassy getting the case number from NVC helps in keeping their case moving. Otherwise you nay not hear from them for months or not at all. Most have the problem because of the mail service for their country. Check your Embassy's website for additional information.

Pefect, thanks a lot for the clarification!

  7. The only way you will have your case number is wait till they mail your NOA2 which sometimes takes 30-45 days. If you want it sooner then call but don't waste your time because your case won't arrive at NVC for 10 business days. Hence the reason everyone says wait 10 business days before calling. No website will have your case number.

    Thank you Greenbaum!

    I still have a question...

Is the reason why we need to know our case number because we need to provide this number while filling in the forms for the Consulate? or is it for another reason?

I follow the blog of a girl who asked the NVC for her case number only after receiving the letter from her Consulate. Is there a reason for which we should get our NVC number before receiving the mail from the Consulate?

To what I understand, it would simply let us have an idea of the time by which we'll get our file sent to our Consulate...but if I'm missing anything i'd be interested to know!! Thank you :)

  8. Hello everyone!

This is my first post on this forum so I am taking the opportunity to thank all of you for the great information I have been able to find so far! This has been really helpful!

I woke up this morning to some good news: I just received a notification e-mail for my NOA2!!

I have read that most of you call the NVC after 10 business days. However, are we all really supposed to call? Don't they provide our case number by sending us a mail or can't we check it on a specific website? Don't wanna be a pain in the neck for them.

    Thanks a lot!
