ZoeUK1989 got a reaction from Orangesapples in Withdrawal of GC application
Just to clarify because there seems to be a lot of confusion on who is the petitioner and who was the beneficiary of the K1 to the GC.
My name is Zoe and I am from the UK. My wife is the USC and we are in a same sex relationship which is probably why people are getting a little confused when I say Wife because the automatic thought in peoples heads in the partner to the wife is usually a man, the Husband. So just to throw a little spanner in the works we are Mrs and Mrs
Me, Zoe, filed the AOS. I signed it. My wife is the USC and signed the I-864. I will write the letter to withdraw it my I-485, I just don't know where to put that it was filed because I thought everyone sent it to the same place (that Chicago lockbox or wherever it was) Its, been 16 months since I filed and I have been through a lot since filing anything including the K1 so I can't remember.
When I contacted them to tell them they hadn't sent me a receipt for the I-485 they told me they didn't keep those records longer than 6 months and I would need to contact the office where I filed, which was where I thought I was asking.
I get so confused because of the terminology they use, Is the place I filed the same place as where It should be being processed?
When it comes to sending them a copy of my I-797c for my I-485 application then they have no chance of getting that from me because they didn't send me one and no matter how hard I tried to get one, they wouldn't give me one. so its tough luck really.
This process has been a pain in the a** start to now for me but I still want to withdraw my application in the correct way, even if they haven't done everything by the book for me and my wife.

ZoeUK1989 got a reaction from trudi in Passport help
Your answer is so helpful, thank you so much!
I am hesitant to send my off just yet as I am at the stage of no man's land. I am waiting for an interview and my luck is that I would mail my passport and then find out I have an interview and the required passport would be elsewhere lol.
I managed to do all the immigration myself and yet I panic at the thought of doing my passport myself for the first time haha.
Thanks again for your response

ZoeUK1989 got a reaction from rachied26 in My medical experience at London Knightsbridge
Hey everyone,
I just thought I would write a little post about my experience of my medical at London Knightsbridge today...
So, I got there the night before around 9:30pm and stayed in a travel lodge just off Oxford Street, parking just to the rear of the building which was nice, supposed to be £42 for 24 hours but if you mention the car when you check in they will give you a token to put in the machine after your ticket and it gives you a discount (mine came to £21 to park for 24 hours, bargain!)
We took a stroll down when we got there to make sure we knew exactly where we were going in the morning (I say we as my lovely friend drove me down there).
Found it really easily and head back to the travel lodge for the night.
We started walking down there at 8 o'clock as my appointment was at 9:30 in the morning which gave us time to grab a drink at EAT and take a steady walk to the doctors. I didn't get a picture I'm sorry but I can tell you it's almost at the end of the road with about 4 or 5 steps leading up to it and there is a doctors space on the road outside. It has flat 4 on the buzzer, I pushed the button and they let me straight in even though I was a little early.
When entering the staff on the front desk were lovely! She said that I couldn't see the doctor straight away as I was early but they could start by taking my paperwork.
The documents I took were as follows:
1. Passport
2. 4 x passport photos (i just used US size but I believe it can be either at this stage)
3. Medical questionaire
4. Vaccine records from doctors
5. Police certificate
6. Letter from embassy confirming case number and visa type
7. medical summary from doctor
I am not sure they used the summary but it does request it on the booking confirmation from knightsbridge. It also doesn't mention the letter from embassy on most of the sites of things to take but please do not forget this. I don't think they will do it without it.
I actually put the original of everything and also a photocopy. The copies are not necessary as they will just copy it themselves however I would recommend doing the copies, not only does this save time but it actually makes you look well prepared and let's face it, what person in any of this process won't like you coming prepared?
While she was looking through my paperwork and sorting it we had a nice little chat about life in London and a joke about the fact that they could tell I wasn't from London and I wasn't used to the way of life there. She handed me everything back and thanked me for making her job easier with making the copies and then handed me a questionaire along with a urine sample cup, told me to go to the waiting room and fill in the questionaire and do the urine sample (they require this for every single medical they do for K1 so please don't think you are exempt because you say you have never done drugs or had a STD, it's standard practice). The questionaire is pretty must the same as the first one they give you but in a little more detail and asks you a couple of extra questions like do you smoke? Current or former? To which I'm a former and it felt good writing that for the first time on a form
I completed the form and did the urine sample to which I could only manage half a cup and put it into the red sealed bag and handed it into the reception desk.
I didn't have time to go back and sit down as by the time I had done this the man had asked me to follow him to have my chest x ray.
Also a very nice gentleman, he kindly advised me to remove my necklace and my t-shirt and my bra and gave me a stunning blue gown. Had me stand in a really funny position which was only uncomfortable on my throat as I don't have a defined chin to rest on the bar.
He asked me to breathe in and hold it to which he said cool you're done and told me to put my bra back on and the gown but not my t-shirt. I then got to see the image on the screen on my lungs for the first time ever. I said I wish I knew what a good set of lungs looked like so I knew that the x ray was okay to which he replied it's looks pretty good to me (he is not able to tell you so please don't take it as it's okay as it's not him that makes the call).
He then took me the female waiting room as he called it and said someone will be with me shortly to do the physical and wished me luck with my future. Truly made me feel comfortable and less anxious about how I would be treated.
I sat in the waiting room for a very short time when the female doctor came to the door and walked me to the room. She asked to put my stuff on one chair and then sit on the one next to the desk just like you do it your doctors surgery. She went through some more questions which seemed they were exactly the same as what was on the questionaire but maybe asked in a slightly different way. I kept eye contact and stayed confident. I think they are designed to read your body languge as well as read your form.
So these are the things they checked...
1. Eye test (read letters on the wall)
2. Checked my ears and mouth
3. Temperature
4. Felt around my neck and collar bone (i believe this was for things like swollen glands or abnormal lumps that shouldn't be there
5. Felt my stomach (liver also)
6. Checked for pulse or something like that on the top on your feet
7. Listened to breathing using stethoscope (surprisingly warm!)
8. Checked my genitalia for abnormalities or signs of STD
9. Checked blood pressure
10. Took blood sample
Again she was really friendly and told me some things about her and made me feel really comfortable. I know a lot of people worry about the looking at the downstairs part... trust me when I say You will never find someone that is more resistant than me to have someone look there but it really wasn't that bad. She had me pull my underwear down and looked and said great your good to get dressed.
She said that everything looked great to her and couldn't see any problem and sent me back to the main waiting room.
I waited again to see the nurse about vaccines which she told me I was missing 2 that I genuinely thought I didn't need again but apparently I do. I opted to have them done at my doctors surgery and that was it i was done.
BE WARNED UK ONLY HAS TWO TETANUS SHOTS BUT APPARENTLY THE US REQUIRE IT TO BE WITHIN TEN YEARS. DON'T BE FOOLED WHEN YOU HAD IT 10 YEARS AGO AND THE DOCTOR SAYS THE BOOSTER LASTS FOR LIFE... THE US WILL NOT ACCEPT IF OUT OF THE 10 YEARS!
So... she gave me a letter with required vaccines and sent me on my way to pay my final bill. £290 lighter and I was given what looks like another form of vaccines records. I was done!
I was out by 10:30 so only an hour!
I was advised that if I didn't hear off them within 5 days then no news is good news! I wished them all a good day and left.
All in all an experience I will never forget because I got myself so worried about it and it really was not that bad at all.
So far I am all good for my interview in a couple of weeks time
I hope this helps anyone wanting to know the process for the London medical and if you have any questions I will be sure to answer them

ZoeUK1989 got a reaction from MAYNYCFiler2017 in Birth cert help
Hey im from the UK and came to the US on the K1. I have filed for the AOS which got sent back because i forgot to sign it like a fool.
Either way i have now received a letter saying my birth certificate wasn't sufficient. I didn't even send them a copy it was my original. Why would this not be the right thing? It's government issued on their special paper and everything. What more can I do because i know they wont look at it again and admit they have made a mistake.
I've had it up to my eyeballs with this process and i need something to go right for me.
Has anyone else had the same experience or do I need to put it down to human error that they wont admit to and will expect me to fix their mistake?
I could do without the ####### to be honest. I have had it real tough since the day i arrived, so much so that i would use it as my sob story if i was going on Americas got talent.
Please help a very frustrated prisioner of the US immigration

ZoeUK1989 got a reaction from TiogaTiago in I-134 Question 38 - Contributions
It asks if you intend to make specific contributions and if you tick yes then state in the bottom on part 7 what contributions you intend to make.
If it was me I would have asked the same question but if no one answered I would tick yes to make sure they read part 7 and then I would still write NA K1 visa or whatever it is that people were advising you should write on the previous form. Others may just say no. Because you don't intend to only make specific contributions but support them entirely.
That is confusing now isn't it because they used to be lots of answers on what to write but now there isn't.
hmmmm...
Sorry I can't advise you completely but maybe someone else will now come back and say what they would do

ZoeUK1989 got a reaction from TheSkywalkers in need ur opinion
I agree with what Penguin says about its just the official documents that will need to be translated however I am not sure that the CO will understand your local language as aren't they Americans that move to different countries? The only reason I say this is because the woman who interviewed me in the UK said that they move them around every so often and she was in Brazil next so I am just not so sure that they know every language of every country they get sent to

Good Look for Saturday,
let us know how you get on, I have only driven through Arizona but hoping to visit the individual states and explore in more detail once I get over.
Talking about small towns we have less than 3k in the dale and heavy traffic basically means we have sheep loose on the road.

ZoeUK1989 got a reaction from Love & PEACE in K1 visa for asylum seeker in Ireland
I really wish I could help you and advise but unfortunately I know nothing about how it works with his case still pending and your situation.
I would definitely consult with someone who is experienced in this or has dealt with the same situation previously. I am unsure as to whether you could marry and file for a different visa. I don't know how he entered the country and whether he has his passport... I just have no idea I'm sorry.
I do wish you all the best for your future and I hope that your journey is as smooth as it can possibly be so you can be together when you go back to the US.
Best of luck to you both

ZoeUK1989 got a reaction from Diane and Chris in Savings as income requirement
Yep, Blue_angel is correct.
If you have an income from retirement you do not require as much in your savings but if you have no income at all and there is only you and your fiance (no dependants) you are looking at needing over $100,000 in savings.
If you have an income then you take that from the poverty guide line amount and work out what your shortfall is. The amount required in savings must be 5 x that of your short fall so if you were getting $18000 say for arguments sake your short fall is $2,025. You would need to have just over $10,000 in savings.
I am not sure if the poverty guidelines have changed so excuse me if those numbers are slightly different now, I am just going on what is was at the time we filed.
Best of luck

If you could please update your profile from K1 to Adjustment of Status under visa type this would help ensure your posts go to the right forum.
What marriage evidence do you have? Insurance policy beneficiary, joint bank account statements, joint credit card statments, wedding photos, Living Wills, etc.
-
ZoeUK1989 reacted to blue_angel_29 in Savings as income requirement
Do you get any kind of income?
If no income at all, it will be 5 times the 125% poverty line.
If some income, the difference of income and poverty line times 5.

ZoeUK1989 reacted to f f in I-864 2016 tax return?
2016 taxes are not due till April 15 so you are good to submit tax year 2015 until april 14 but if your interview is after April 15 then you will need to bring a copy of your 2016 taxes.

ZoeUK1989 reacted to Valabum in Profanity in proof of ongoing relationship?
Are you a US/UK couple?
I (US) provided three photos, a copy of my plane tickets and receipts of things I bought in the U.K. while I was there with my initial petition. My fiancé did not supply anything extra during the interview and we were fine. No chat logs whatsoever!
If your relationship seems rather easy to file (for instance, you've been together a while already, no police record, no medial issues, no children immigrating as well, etc) I'd suggest you just save the paper!

I think this is not a drugs test but a test for Gonorrhoea... They may also test for other things at the same time using this sample but I think this is what it is actually for
-
ZoeUK1989 got a reaction from vocal in New medical exam requirement
Same as Missushabes says... there is nowhere it officially says this test is only for Gonorrhoea...
Some places used to only do a urine sample if someone in the medical admitted to any form of drug use or alcohol abuse.
Try not to worry about what it is for too much, the medical is scary and stressful as it is. You really don't want to be getting yourself worked up or worried about that.

Yep, it's for everyone and the hospital where I did mine told me the new fee was just added last October 5, 2016. The usual 550AEDirhams went up to 975AEDirhams because of the cost for Gonorrhea test. And that's vaccines excluded. I paid close to 400AEDirhams more for the vaccines so in dollars it was about $380 for the medical. Twas more than 50% of the original fee that's been added. Everything's gone up now but we can only do as we're told.

Married within 90 days, not 3 months. So keep an extra eye on the dates if you plan on getting married on the last day before the i-94 expires.
