From my understanding, the xray and bloodwork tests (two separate locations) need to be done prior to the medical exam, so that the results can be included by the doctor in your sealed medical packet. My fiance was advised to do his xray and bloodwork tests day 1, his medical exam day 2, and the interview day 3, so that's exactly what we've scheduled. The bloodwork results only take a few hours, so I don't know why you wouldn't be able to do the xray, bloodwork, and medical exam in the same day if you choose a medical appointment for later in the day, though. The last available interview is 10:45am, so I'm not sure you'd be able to fit everything into one day.
My fiance is from Provence, so we had to book an AirBnB for him for the 3 days (it's a 7.5 hour drive each way), but there are several rooms for rent for about ~$40 a night, which seemed pretty reasonable compared to the hotels in the city. Perhaps that could be an option for your fiance, rather than endure the drive?
Just so you know, when we were booking his medical exams and lab work, one of the doctors is on holidays for the second half of August, and the other doctor is on holidays most of August, so just be weary of that when you're picking your interview appointment. I believe one of the labs is also shut down part of August. They sure don't make it easy for us, do they?!
Glad you were able to get the fee portion done and over with! Good luck to you both!
Thank you for clearing that up for me, when it comes to the medical exam it's all a big scramble to me. If possible, I think we will try and score for the X-ray's and medical in the same day and then the interview the next day.
I have also considered AirBnB for while we are in Paris, but I have yet to look at the pricing (knowing Paris, I figured it'd be a bit on the expensive side) but $40/night is not bad at all. Hey, two days in Paris would be a nice mini vacation for us and give me a chance to sight see lol.
Are you serious? Why must they be so difficult? haha. I suppose he should go ahead and contact them about his medical then, and possibly I should go ahead and buy my plane ticket and prepare to accompany him? I definitely want to be there with him during the entire process. Medical, and all. Everything moves so fast!
Does the Embassy give you options on who does your X-Ray's or is it whoever you choose? and how do I decipher who to go to for the X-ray? because I know they give you two different doctors for the medical but they don't mention the X-ray's.

Have you figured out which doctor your fiancé may be going to for the medical ?
Logically I think it sounds possible to have the Interview and the medical on the same day. However an Xray and a few more test will have to be done outside the doctor office which means it may be longer , having the interview on the same day could be totally possible.
I ain't at this step yet but from what I understand ( Correct me if I'm wrong
) but the beneficiary contact the appropriate doctor for his medical ( Via phone or email ) and then when it comes to the interview using ais.usvisa.com to make the appointment. So for both the medical and interview you are not contacting the same persons or website, I guess you can make it.
Someone who filled back in 2013 advised us to have the medical and interview very close so the beneficiary don't have to go back twice.
As the K1 flowcharts stated that "Some embassies require the medical the same day as the interview. Most require the interview to be done ahead of time and have the results sent to the embassy directly from the doctor." Hope it can help
Yes, we were thinking Dr. Francis Slattery as there is only two doctors to chose from in Paris. I thought the X-ray was included in the medical though. Do you know if it would be possible for him to get the X-ray done in his hometown to avoid traveling multiple times to Paris? I believe our only option is to have the medical and interview on the same day as I had mentioned it is a bit of a commute to Paris from home. (Praying it's possible!). In the email I received from the Embassy, they did not state anything about it being mandatory for it to follow on the same day, but it does state that it must be before the interview (of course). I suppose now that I have the appointment website figured out I should go ahead and get the fiance to schedule his medical exam. Thanks for the info!

Sorry Kjfray, I'm the petitioner, so I was only on the phone with my fiance as he was going through all these online forms but I myself did not fill them out. From what I recall, though, that was the step he was on when he had to figure out how to pay the fee (we couldn't get any of our CC's to work so he had to wire the money instead-- he said he had this issue both times that he applied for his J1 visa as well), so that's what made it stand out in my memory. I'll ask him for you, but since it's a bit late over there and he has to get up early for his medical tomorrow, I'm not sure how quickly I can get you an answer. Perhaps someone else who recently just went through the packet 3 ordeal could help? Or I would try messaging another French couple that just completed the process.
Ah... After 5 days of confusion, I finally figured out where I went wrong. So the link that Embassy sent me to create an account on the USVisa website requires me to open an account under a "DS-260" number instead of DS-160 so under that column on the website I was entering my DS-160 number (stupid, right?) It just came to mind about how I never filled out a DS-260
So I researched it and created a new account under a different set of instructions/options and behold the right form appeared + the column for a DS-160 (not DS-260) after creating the new account, the payment page came up (Thank God) but still no appointments available, so now my options are to wait for an appointment to become available and then it will allow me to pay. Here is what the page looks like now:
Now, I'm just thinking about all those potential open interview dates I could have had lol.

I am also the petitioner and I have been doing all the forms and paperwork for my fiance. I've just figured since it states on the CEAC website that we don't have to pay anything until in person, so I haven't bothered researching that step. I appreciate all of your help and advice! It's just a tease! I'm at the final step and I'm ready to schedule an interview but the website won't allow it.
Also, do you know if it is possible for my fiance to have the medical appointment the same day as the interview? He lives 3 1/2 hours away from Paris, so it would be a bit of a hassle for him to have to go there twice.
Wishing your fiance luck for his medical and interview!

Hi
Have you tried looking at dates further into the future? For example September or even October?
I booked my appointment for the 21st July on the 1st but there was only one appointment available that day and the rest of July and most of August was already fully booked. It may be that your Consulate is particularly busy at the moment and there may be a longer wait time than you anticipated.
Let us know how you get on.
I have scrolled through all the way until 2020, and there is nothing available. I don't understand how everyone is able to book appointments but I haven't been for since the 21st.. It's frustrating to say the least.

We paid when scheduling the interview (Step 3 on the email instructions) at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-fr/iv . It's also where you register the French address that you want them to send back the passport with approved visa inside. I believe you have to print a confirmation from this page to prove that you completed both the payment and the address registration when attending the interview.
Hope that helps! Good luck! Any more available interview appointments popping up?
Hm.. Step 3 on our email is about the medical examination, which also he has yet to sign up for. I'm still confused. I signed up for the website, I completed the courier part and then the next step is scheduling an interview. (where still to this day, the calendar is completely grayed out) I will attach a picture of what it looks like along with the calendar. I don't have any options to pay either.
its because you did not receive packet 3 yet..... once u get this packet 3 then you will be abble to pay the fee online
I thought the email the embassy sent me was packet 3? If not, what is packet 3? Because the email I received jumps right to scheduling an interview, and that's the final process..

Hi! My fiancé and I are applying for a K1 and on the 21st the embassy in Paris emailed me (the petitioner) a step by step guide of what to do next (we've already been approved and been through the NVC) it states several different steps and what to bring to the interview and one of the last steps state
"each beneficiary must pay the related fees, select an appointment (from 8.30am to 10.45am) on any available Wednesday morning, then register a French mailing address by visiting the outsourcing company which manages the Courier Service via Google Chrome at www.usvisa-info.com"
So I've done that and when I try and select a date on the calendar on the website, all the dates are grayed out and unavailable to select. Is there a reason for this? Am I missing something? I have been checking hourly every day since the 21st and it's still grayed out, it's leaving me rather frustrated.
I have attached a picture of the calendar to show what it looks like. -
Which payment are you talking about exactly? Because when I tried signing into the CEAC website to pay our fees it statesWe didn't fill out a DS-2001 or send anything back to them, either. We just gathered everything that was on the email (identical to yours), filled out the DS-160, and wired the money in order to schedule the interview.
Did you have issues using a credit card to pay? We tried both his French cc's, as well as my American one, and neither went through, so we ended up having to wire the money and then waiting a few days for it to clear before we were able to schedule the interview.
"The National Visa Center has forwarded your file to the US Embassy/Consulate where you are applying for an immigrant visa. Any other required fees must now be paid directly at the Embassy or Consulate at the time of your interview."
And it won't let me pay anything. I've been very confused on the payment aspect because I never had the notion to pay any fee, and when it was finally time to pay it was already too late and apparently I need to pay in person at the embassy. What exactly did you pay and how did you do it?

My fiance and I had just finished the exact same step yesterday and when he logged in this morning (well, 2am for me here in California, 11am for him in France), there was only one appointment available, and it was for this Wednesday, July 27th. So he's pretty much had to drop everything and scramble to book his medical, flight to Paris, etc, in hopes that 1.5 days for the medical prior to the interview will be enough.
It is weird though, that that was the only available appointment. And everything else is unavailable for the entire month of August. Perhaps if you keep logging back in, more time slots will open up?
Also, did you have to fill out the DS-2001 form (Notification of Applicant Readiness)? Because in the checklist the Embassy sent me that was not a requirement listed, and I have seen a lot of people have had to do this, nor did I have to send anything back to them, it was pretty straight forward.
I've attached two pictures showing what I was emailed from them. Thanks!

Really? I'm hoping for an August date, that's when I plan on flying to France and attend the interview with my fiancé. I hope dates starting opening, I know I've been checking the calaneder on the website every second of the day!My fiance and I had just finished the exact same step yesterday and when he logged in this morning (well, 2am for me here in California, 11am for him in France), there was only one appointment available, and it was for this Wednesday, July 27th. Hi.
I just checked online on the CEAC page and typed in my case number and our case now says "your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. consular section" what exactly does this mean? Is there a step I need to take now or am I waiting on the U.S consulate? If so, what exactly am I waiting for? (This is the consulate in Paris, France). Thanks.

Hi!
So I got word that my application had been sent out to my fiancé's local embassy (Paris) for further processing. I would like to accompany my fiancé during his interview but I'm not exactly sure when I should plan on flying out. It's been nearly three days (7/11/16) since I heard last that our application was being sent and I'm not exactly sure of what time frame I have, that being said when should I start preparing to fly out? We also plan on leaving immediately after we receive the K1 visa and I'm not exactly sure how long the process will take and how long it will be after until we receive our visa.
Not expecting exact dates, rough estimates are appreciated; I am new to this!

Right now I'm just referring to the 90 days that my fiancé will be here. Unless they require proof of support for a possible green card also during the interview?I-134 is not legally enforceable and it only covers the 90 days. Now if OP has to use a joint sponsor during AOS, that's a different story. Right now they are going for getting a K-1.
-
But what if I'm not living with the co sponsor? Because I do in fact live alone. Also, what would this co sponsor need to provide me with to prove my fiancé's financial support? The co-sponsor will use their income or assets to prove the financial support for the immigrant. Basically, instead of you proving income (or assets) the co-sponsor would prove to be within the needed guidelines, and provide all supporting documentation. Perhaps, you could ask a family member or friend to help with this. Just remember whoever the co-sponsor is, they're ultimately financially responsible for the immigrant to not become a burden on the government.
-
Joint sponsor? How does that work?Use a joint sponsor. For K-1, you need the I-134.
I-864 is for later, you use it for AOS.

I tried that link and it doesn't necessarily tell me anything? It's just stating how to apply for a nonimmigrant visa. Here is a little bedtime reading: https://fr.usembassy.gov/visas/nonimmigrant-visas/ for what is needed, what's next and how to pay etc. for all things USE France

Hi guys,
I'm starting to gather the information needed in preparation for my fiancé's interview, and I've come across a bit of a dilemma. For the Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) I cannot provide proof of financial support because I am a server at a restaurant and I almost always don't claim all of my tips, therefore on pay stubs it does not provide the actual amount I indeed make per pay period and my hourly pay is only $2.13, which is always taxed out completely come pay period. Also, I have only been employed with this company since last December, due to visiting my fiancé in his home country, and all of my previous jobs were also serving jobs and my W2's are not above 125% of the poverty line. Our application has just got sent out today from the NVC for the Embassy to collect, and like everyone else I don't want to wait longer than I have to. Thus being, what are my options?
-
Hi everyone,
okay, so I just called the NVC after 6 weeks of waiting for the case number and they had finally received my case (two days ago actually) and provided me with that. I checked online at my case, which stated it was still at the NVC, I checked back two hours later and it's in transit to the embassy (In Paris), I tried paying the remaining fees online which I was unable to do so because it states I have to pay everything remaining at the interview in person, I called the NVC to clarify this and it is so. So now, what are the steps I need to take? I have of course looked into the necessary next steps but from what I've read it's unclear. How long am I looking to wait for the application to reach the embassy and what exactly do I need to do while I wait for it and so on? Also, I'm the petitioner and I reside in the U.S., whereas my fiancé lives in France. (The beneficiary) if it makes any difference.
Thanks.

Got it! Thanks for clearing that up.Yes, confusing, but routed means (initially) sent to. It was never at the Texas Service Center. The lockbox is just a facility that receives the applications and forwards them. The TSC was veeery backlogged a year ago, so they stopped sending petitions there completely.
I hope so! I just don't know how strict they are with detailed information. Anyways, thank you!You are overthinking it! What you sent is plenty to get you through the petition phase. Later, the embassy in France, with local knowledge, will have no issues understanding that you flew into Belgium.
-
You describe your meeting in person, which is the requirement. I've seen posters here who didn't even describe their first in person meeting (they picked their lengthier visit or something like that), and where fine.
Even if you got an RFE, you wouldn't be doomed!
Another thing, maybe you could help shed some light on?
I did provide proof of us meeting in person (photos, passport stamps, plane tickets, receipts) but there is a bit of a problem with that because my fiancé resides in France, but the closest airport to him is in Belgium, for that we would commute via train. So whenever I would visit him, we would meet in the Belgium airport, then take a train back to France. So my boarding passes, boarding pass receipts, and passport stamps say Belgium, instead of France. And I don't have any proof that I went to France, because the train tickets were thrown away a while back. The only things I do have is grocery receipts and things of that nature, which I didn't provide. Maybe, I'm overthinking this entire process but seeing the RFE rate lately really makes me nervous. Any insight is appreciated regardless!
-
Oh, btw, for accuracy of your timeline... You have a WAC.... number, right? Then your case wasn't transferred from Texas to California, but routed directly to California. Many people confuse the lockbox in Texas with the service center, but they are not the same :-) No cases have been routed to TSC the last year.
Oh, really? Because when I received my NOA1 it stated "Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS California Service Center for processing" so I figured that meant they processed it in Texas and were backed up, sending it to California? It confuses me.

Well, I hope this is the case. You're correct, not necessarily doomed, but just lengthening an already tedious (potentially frustrating) process. Crossing my fingers!
