Another quick question!
I noticed a lot of people processed in Montreal. Is that the consulate of choice in Canada?
Thanks!
The consulate you are processed through is dependent upon where in Canada you are residing. If you are more Eastern then you would likely end up in Montreal...more western then you will end up in Vancouver...you dont get a choice unfortunatly.

Got a bit of goodnews...my fiance just got a call from out lawyer and our RFE just arrived at her office..he is going there tomorrow morning to fill it out and send it back. So those who were tranfered from NCS to CSC this is a good sign..I am sure you will get your RFE Today or by Friday...goodluck! Hopefully this will be a smoother journey from now on....(fingers crossed)

I think CSC is starting to work and move on the cases transfered from Nebraska. My fiance got 2 emails from CSC saying they sent out the RFE on June 23,2006 so it should be there at anytime now..things are looking up for the march apps!!!!

This is really frustrating...we had everything in there on march 9/06 and got noa1 date march 24/06....then they tranfer a whole stack of us to california from Nebraska..and word was going around that Nebraska was not handling these visas anymore..and now I read people who have got there NOA1 far later than us getting their RFEs and the kicker some are coming from Nebraska....what the? This is completely ridiculous how they are processing these...I just want things to start moving again! ahhhhh!

So I just found this forum today and yeah I sent my petition in March 3rd got first notice this month that it was in CA now and I called USCIS and spoke with a real pleasant lady (Sarcasm to the fullest here). I guess when it only takes a high school education to get your job of phone monkey, we shouldnt expect they might want to be helpful and polite. Anyway couldnt get any info out of her other than the fact she is a raging B$*%@...so I took my own route and found you all....which I have a question...my fiance is supposed to go to the USA and visit but we are worried she will be blocked from the USA does anyone know the answer if she will or not?
I have wondered about that whole crossing the border during the process situation myself .My fiance was told by our lawyer that I was not allowed to enter the US until our process was complete. Is that true? Cause reading through a lot of the threads I see people saying they have since tried to enter and have had few problems. Just curious.

To add to the confusion. My fiance called CSC on Monday and asked them that very question, whether or not we were put the bottom of the list since we were transfer or would we still go by our NOA1 date. Their answer was there usual aloofness...they are not put the bottom but they are not exactly at the top either...so basically I think what they were trying to say was they are going through the CSC and the NCS are thrown in the mix...so it should be by NOA1. Hard to say. They certainly arent the most forthcoming with their information.

Hang in there, and remember, you are a man, who tends to often think in facts and very logic based patterns, you are dealing with a woman who tends to often think first with emotion, and here the greatest emotion is the seperation from the person she loves....
Or it could just be that this whole process is overwhelming for her..and what is the point of going over it point by point everytime you talk to eachother...it wont change the fact that this is a waiting game. Once things start moving again she will take more interest I am sure. If you get caught up in the facts you loose sight of why you are doing all this....just my opinion. Maybe you should try being a bit more sensative about the whole thing. I am sure she feels as though her life is in limbo much like the rest of us...waiting to hear when you got the okay to move your life and start over, and when you will be together again.

My fiance and I are in the midst of all this caos ourselved. Ironically our lawyer after we paid her retainer fee advised us that we should have just had me move to the US then get married and do the paper work. BUT the problem with that way is not only is it technically illegal..but the US government can really tie things up on you for a couple of years. Which means you cant work or anything that time. Which is why we have opted to go the K1 route. Initially all signs said start to finish 6 month..but with current delays in the processing centres this is not as accurate. My fiance actually called the service centre today and they were not really giving us any information..truth be told I dont think they really know. Also we were told that I had to be in Canada at the time we filed the application. Once the ball is rolling I am not allowed to enter the US until the process is over. But where you are a teacher you might want to look at going over on a special trade visa to teach..from there see the legistics of getting married and changing your visa status..I dont know much about this route..but I have heard of cases like that. With the K1 visa you will eventually have to have a medical done here in Canada by a USCIS specified doc, and then you have to do an interview in either Vancouver or Montreal depending on which area of the country you are in. So you would have to have to be in the country. It does take a bit of time, but if you can hang on its better this way in the long term. Once you are approved you have 6 months to enter the US and 90 days upon entering the US to get married. Goodtimes...

Oh dear! I didn't realize that. I just thought they wanted how we met and where (I included that we met online as well but also included the weeks we spent together). I figured they read so many that they wanted just a short and simple answer ("Just the facts, Ma'am." as my dad always likes to quote from Dragnet).
Did everyone else add about how they decided to get married and love stuff? I did put about 12 pictures in the packet and put the best one on top (the one everyone looks at and says, "wow, you two are really in love").
In our letter of intent our lawyer had us talk about how we met with dates if possible. It also mentioned the dates that we saw eachother and in what city. We made a small mention of possible plans for the type of wedding we were hoping to have. We were also advised to have the letters notorized. For evidence we used a few pictures spanning our relationship, and a few emails, phone bills, tickets, passports just to back up the letter. Not sure if this is mandatory or not but we each got a letter from a family member saying that they met us and knew of our engagement and intent to marry. Try to include the dates here as well...just enough to show a good span of the relationship....

I was just checking my copy of the I129f and the A# appears to be in a section for the USIS. Then you will each have forms to sign and send back. Your alien fiancee is the beneficiary. the person applying on their behalf is the petitioner from what I can see done here...hope this helps you out a bit...before you send it all in make sure you get lots of evidence of your relationship to go with it. At the advice of our lawyer we sent as much as we could get together...letters from family members stating they know of our relationship...and pictures of us as a couple plane tickets, stubs, telephone bills, emails, card, announcements..anything you can think of. It sounds overwhelming but once you get started not so bad.

Okay so I have been reading all this great information and stuff. But here is my question and it might sound a bit stupid but here goes. I keep seeing people saying their cases have been touched. Where are you finding this. We mailed our forms on March 7, received the NOA1 March 24,2006 then we had our case moved like most people from NSC, to CSC and when I got on line to check out status we got something saying that we will get notice when approved. But nothing out being touched, and there are people saying they have been touched and they filed later than us. Equiring minds want to know. Thanks for your help. :energetic:

My finacee and I originally had filed our papers in the Nebraska Office and then he got 3 duplicate emails telling him they transfered our papers to California. We have since heard that there is a new proposed I129F form as of March 26,2006, and they are deciding whether or not to prorate this to those who filed as of March 4,2006. Apparently it involves more of a Criminal background check. So basically from what we understand it they have our paper work and are holding onto it until further notice. Which means we wait...again...who knows how long a delay this could cause now. If anyone has more information please share! Thanks.
