They don’t have to be certified.  We used ours directly from turbo tax and uploaded as a pdf.

Our application right now is estimated at 10 months.

The NOA came the same day with the biometrics letter the second day.  After that it’ll be a while before you get an interview scheduled from what I’m seeing.

    Hey Everyone!

It's been a while but it's finally time for an update on the case.....

Application was approved yesterday for the husband!  No interview, notified card is being produced, and located at the Vermont Center.

    File Date: 9/14/2018
    Approved: 9/18/2019

Took a year but now it's finally time to move my butt over to an N-400 thread.  Time to get that application sorted.

    It's been fun!

I’m an attorney and work on many immigration cases.  Last week I set up a call with a tier two officer to ask about a client’s green card.  We got lucky and the call back was made from someone in the National service department - not east or west, can’t remember the name (they’re able to clear. a lot of red tape when you want to put in a service request since all requests go to them in the end).

We got to talking about the process of removal of conditions and my husband as we passed the time waiting for him to do something and we talked about a few things.

Right now he confirmed Vermont is faster than California with I-751.

We also talked about filing your naturalization papers while you have a pending I-751.  He confirmed that your naturalization paperwork won’t be approved until the I-751 is completed.  He also said that it takes longer to process both applications when they’re both pending because you’ll have two different offices fighting for your hard file which then causes the file to be shipped between one office and another,

Mind you this is one viewpoint but he did raise an interesting point.

In the end I think it’s luck and who is ultimately reviewing your file.

I am curious to to see whether or not they interview us this time around, his green card was approved without one.

Yeah, it depends, everyone has their opinions on what you should an shouldn't do.

USCIS unfortunately doesn't know its left from its right so you'll hear one thing from one officer and another from a completely different person.  So you never know who to believe lol.

A lot of the cases I handle are I-212 and I-601s, along with I-485 and I-130s.  So when you're at that point, a lot has gone wrong before we can even apply for a green card for our clients.

In the end there's no rush for naturalization since the green card will be valid for 10 years.

I'd recommend the lawyer as well, my office has many immigration clients.

Waivers can be tricky only because you want to present your case in the best light.  There's the way USCIS sees the facts on paper and what actually happened from your prospective.

I wouldn't lose hope though, we've dealt with some really difficult cases in our office and they were granted waivers and the situations were more convoluted then this so stay positive

Further update, husband just informed me the reissued NOA arrived today on 10/22

So until or if we receive an RFE or an interview notice, we're officially checked out of process for at least a year.

See you guys on the other side and good luck to all!

If you don’t have a receipt number when you call the main line - click to get status and click that you don’t have a receipt number.  Eventually you’ll get a tier 1 agent that will help you once you explain what you’re calling about.  They’ll ask for your A number among other questions to verify your identity.

This is more up to date in terms of status.  But it still takes a week or so for the case to appear online with a status even when an NOA is issued.

If there's one thing USCIS teaches us, it is patience lol
